Friends and allies of Baroness Thatcher expressed ‘surprise and disappointment’ last night as it emerged President Obama is not planning to send any serving member of his administration to her funeral. Whitehall sources have revealed that the U.S. delegation at tomorrow’s service in St Paul’s Cathedral will be led by two Reagan era secretaries of state: James Baker and George Shultz. Though President Obama himself had not been expected to attend, there had been speculation that he would be represented either by Vice President Joe Biden or wife Michelle. The Queen’s decision to attend
The farther Obama and his sycophants remain away from anything representing English and American tradition, the better. It proves the utter contempt he has of both countries´ history. Obama isn´t worthy to be near such greatness as Thatcher showed the world. The bust of Churchill must be smiling now.
Extremely bad form. It is obvious Obama and no-one in his administration comprehend protocol. I am shocked that the United States of America would behave this way. Unfortunately what he does and doesn´t do reflects on us. Disgusting.
Obama got his fanny kissed all over socialized Europe, his butt boys arranged--bought--him a shiny new peace prize, then, Dang!! He heard the Brits were not going to make him a knight. Well, he showed them! Sulk. Pout.
Obama´s response to this situation underscores the enormous changes that our society will have to endure to restore any sense of correctness and dignity to our way of life. If we ever expect to regain the respect of the real world, the task at hand seems almost incomprehensible. God help us!
Maybe it´s all those years of Monty Python that have twisted my sense of humor. But in my mind I picture Obama and Moochelle, at the funeral next to Lady Thatchers coffin. When all of a sudden the lid opens and Lady Thatcher sits up, flips Obama the bird and yells "Marxist I have seen your future, and you will not win!".

Have you considered the Brits sent the message to Obe and company STAY AWAY we can´t deal with your 200 SS agents and stop the funeral procession so they could drive through? Plus they can´t hold back the service to long enough to bullet proof the church windows and hotel rooms. Remember when Obe demanded the palace windows in his 3rd floor suit had to be replaced with bullet proofing for a one night stay?

Of course he did. If he returned Winston Churchill´s bust to them the moment he set foot in our White House, he´s certainly not going to soil his reputation crossing the pond for them. He has an immature point to prove about anti-colonialism.
That´s about the only thing he has had an original thought on. Everything else was programmed by the marxist radicals &/or written and directed by Val Jar.
As usual, he thinks it´s all about him. Our government should be represented officially at the funeral. As much as I despise this administration, they are the current US government. I continue to wonder how many more times he will embarrass us on the world stage. I hope the Brits return the snub someday.
It would be impossible for anyone in the classless Obama administration to sit there while Margaret Thatcher was being praised. Progressives are all about being snide and snarky, and from day one have showed themselves to be ignorant of decorum and protocol. Baroness Thatcher deserves better representation and she will get it from James Baker and George Shultz.
He must sit around strategizing about how to be the anti-president because he does it so consistently and so well. I quit being surprised after his first bow-from-the-waist to a foreign potentate. But I still despise him for his hatred of America.
Sending O to represent Ronald Reagan´s America would be like sending Kim Kardashian to represent Audrey Hepburn; a grotesque and ludicrous incongruity. The America Baroness Thatcher loved, and to which she was a friend and essential ally barely exists anymore.

We do not even have an Ambassador to UK and are represented by Charge d´affaires. Obama has referred to the Falklands as Malvinas-giving support for fellow socialist Kirchner. One of Thatchers greatest achievements was keeping the Falklands British. Our fake POTUS would have been among the " enemy". Perhaps he was afraid of being exposed as the fraud he is? Perhaps he knew about the Boston bombing beforehand and wanted to be here to exploit it?
tacky to the max - and it is embarrassing that this behavior is on display internationally. surely he could have sent someone appropriate as his representative as he is president of all the people - not just liberal dems. playing politics at time of death is really a new low. it will boomerang sooner or later
Think how far back you would have to go to find a dem admin with class, integrity and dignity to send someone to pay America´s respect. Obama(no), Clinton(no), Cater(no), Johnson(no), Kennedy(no), Truman(finally). It´s a sad state of affairs to see such trash occupying the highest levels of the dem party for so long.
Frankly, it´s a huge relief -- if Skippy or Mrs. Skippy attended, they´d be making the occasion all about them. As for Biden, now we don´t have to worry about his embarrassing our country with one of his flaky remarks.
Rest in peace, Lady Thatcher. You served your country, and the world, superbly.
BHO, Mooch, and Bird Brain have individually and collectively been "on the dole" grifters all their lives. Thatcher would have known them for what they are. And besides, Moochelle would have shown up looking like a drag queen. (My apologoes to drag queens).
As a contrast, you may recal that last month the press reported that the US was planning to send an official delegation to the Chavez funeral. As it turned out none was sent because they were discouraged from attending.
Lady Thatcher never wavered in her support for the principles which secure liberty, the very freedom which the USA stands for. It is thus no wonder the militant lefties of this world still revile both Thatcher and Pres. Reagan, for when the Berlin Wall came down & the USSR fell flat, these magnificent champions for freedom proved that statist/socialist tyranny CAN be defeated and those enslaved by it CAN be set free.
For the leadership of any current free country on the planet not to honor so great a champion of freedom as Margaret Thatcher brings disgrace upon that country and is a petty betrayal of Liberty.
0bama & his harpy gaggle of radical dem socialist politicos have no shame.
Rudy Giulliani said it best, "Weddings are optional, funerals are mandatory..." This is a grave insult to Lady Thatcher. The beautiful tribute she played to her friend President Ronald Reagan at his funeral should have been returned by the present American President. Sad...
Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) said he prayed Sarah Palin does not get involved in a GOP Senate primary fight in South Carolina. But the Arizona senator said he does not expect her to target the primary fight with his friend, Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.). “Oh, I pray she wouldn’t do that,” McCain told The New York Times in a wide-ranging interview. “And you know, I find it hard to believe that she would.” Palin, McCain’s vice presidential running mate in 2008, has hinted about targeting South Carolina and a number of other states housing GOP incumbents up for reelection. During the interview, he continued
In a meeting with “eight moms from around America,” according to a White House pool report, President Obama encouraged the mothers to sing the praises of Obamacare while they’re out shopping at grocery stores. Obama, speaking to the moms in the Oval Office, acknowledged that there have been problems with the roll-out of his signature health legislation, but insisted that a solid P.R. campaign will rescue Obamacare. When people “hear about preventive care, the more they hear about no lifetime limits,” Obama said. “The more information they get, the more satisfied they’re going to be.” And moms can play a
Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted announced Wednesday that his office found 17 non-citizens illegally cast ballots in the 2012 presidential election -- and has referred the case for possible prosecution. The alleged crime would be a notable case of voter fraud in a key swing state. By law, only American citizens are allowed the privilege of casting ballots for the nation´s leaders. Ohio officials say that did not stop some from getting around the system. "I have a responsibility to uphold election law, and under both federal and state law you must be a citizen to vote," said Husted, a Republican who
President Barack Obama has struggled to sell his health care law this fall — and until now, he’s largely been without his top seller: first lady Michelle Obama. The first lady has done little to promote the Affordable Care Act in recent months, marking a shift from her usual role as the president’s middle class messenger — a move that allowed her to sidestep the political battles over the law, and questions about the administration’s trustworthiness. Now, with HealthCare.gov’s glitches mostly fixed, and pressure mounting for the administration to boost enrollment numbers — and the president’s approval ratings continuing to slump —
In Lawrence v. Texas, the U.S. Supreme Court, reversing its own then-recent holding in Bowers v. v. Hardwick, ruled that laws against homosexual sodomy are unconstitutional–even though the Constitution says nothing about sex, let alone sodomy–on the ground that the right of privacy (also never mentioned in the Constitution) protects all consensual, private sexual contact between adults. Lawrence immediately was seen as a milestone in the campaign for gay marriage. Some conservatives noted that the Court’s rationale would protect polygamy, too, but they were denounced as killjoys. Lawyers noticed, however. Soon after Lawrence, several lawsuits were commenced in federal courts
President Obama has responded to the ObamaCare debacle by bringing in Beltway liberal mastermind John Podesta as a senior West Wing hand, and he promptly announced his arrival by likening House Republicans to "a cult worthy of Jonestown" in an interview with Politico. The states running their own insurance exchanges are exacting more accountability for their ObamaCare failures. Enrollment and technical dysfunctions and security breaches akin to the 36 federal exchanges continue to beset Minnesota´s operation, called MNsure. On Tuesday, April Todd-Malmlov, the exchange´s executive director since 2011, resigned under political duress. The state´s problems are severe—4,478 have selected a plan so
A&E has placed Duck Dynasty patriarch Phil Robertson on indefinite hiatus following anti-gay remarks he made in a recent profile in GQ. "We are extremely disappointed to have read Phil Robertson’s comments in GQ, which are based on his own personal beliefs and are not reflected in the series Duck Dynasty," A&E said in a statement. "His personal views in no way reflect those of A+E Networks, who have always been strong supporters and champions of the LGBT community. The network has placed Phil under hiatus from filming indefinitely." The news comes after Robertson compared homosexuality to bestiality in an interview
Homeland Insecurity: The post-9/11 Capitol is like Fort Knox. Yet earlier this month, a convicted terrorist still under house arrest waltzed through that security rampart. Who´s minding the fort? A group lobbying to restore the Muslim Brotherhood to power in Cairo held a Dec. 5 briefing in the high-security Cannon Office Building on Capitol Hill. The event, sponsored by the Egypt Freedom Foundation, featured speakers critical of the ouster of Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi. The foundation, which according to the Investigative Project on Terrorism was incorporated in Washington on Oct. 1, recently helped organize another event at Georgetown University that featured a member
Freedom: It´s bad enough that the president´s health insurance takeover costs more, breaks his pledge of letting you keep your plan and diminishes choice. It actually restricts your travels too. ´We have never had to put a wall up to keep our people in." Those words from President John F. Kennedy in June 1963, standing at the Berlin Wall, neatly illustrated the moral superiority of the free West over the Soviet bloc. But Americans are now about to find themselves grappling with their own bureaucratic Berlin Wall. The American Thinker´s Stella Paul has exposed the virtually unnoticed fact that within the ObamaCare
Conservative legal activist Larry Klayman got into an argument on CNN with host Don Lemon and legal analyst Jeffrey Toobin when he was brought on to discuss his victory this week in a lawsuit challenging NSA surveillance, resulting in Lemon cutting him off the screen and Klayman comparing Lemon to disgraced former MSNBC host Martin Bashir. Klayman’s appearance Tuesday night on CNN was preceded by a profile of him that included a quotation from a former George W. Bush staffer saying his lawsuits were about “fighting for himself and his own, in my opinion, delusions of grandeur.” When Klayman was brought into
Nine out of 10 Americans do Christmas and three-quarters believe in the biblical account of Jesus‘ birth — but only a little more than half actually regard the holiday primarily as a religious celebration. More than one-third say it’s more a cultural holiday, a new poll from Pew Research’s Religion & Public Life Policy found. The poll also found that generational differences in how Christmas is celebrated abound. Younger adults generally see the holiday through less religious lens than older Americans. And those under the age of 30 are far less likely to attend a religious service as part of the holiday
The National Journal’s Major Garrett is out with a new report detailing how House GOP leadership plans to push an immigration bill that would grant amnesty to America’s at least 11 million illegal aliens in 2014, a bill that would move after GOP primary season and have House Budget Committee chairman Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI) leading the way. “Boehner has to wait for the bulk of primary season to pass (May or June) before serious immigration work can begin,” Garrett wrote. By then, much of the legislation can be written and the calendar cleared for action in the summer. The House GOP
President Barack Obama sent Russia a clear message about its treatment of gays and lesbians with who he is — and isn’t — sending to represent the United States at the Sochi Olympics. Billie Jean King will be one of two openly gay athletes in the U.S. delegation for the opening and closing ceremonies, Obama announced Tuesday. For the first time since 2000, however, the U.S. will not send a president, former president, first lady or vice president to the Games. Russia has come under fierce criticism for passing national laws banning “gay propaganda.” Though the White House did not specifically address
A&E broke its silence on Duck Dynasty star Phil Robertson’s anti-gay comments late Wednesday. The cable network announced Robertson is off the hit show for the time being. The network issued the following statement to EW: “We are extremely disappointed to have read Phil Robertson’s comments in GQ, which are based on his own personal beliefs and are not reflected in the series Duck Dynasty. His personal views in no way reflect those of A+E Networks, who have always been strong supporters and champions of the LGBT community. The network has placed Phil under hiatus from filming indefinitely.”
The gay and lesbian rights group GLAAD is slamming ´Duck Dynasty´ patriarch Phil Robertson for comments he made about homosexuality to GQ magazine, and challenging the show´s network, A&E, to take action against its most popular star. In a wide-ranging interview, Robertson shared his thoughts on homosexuality and religion. After stating in very graphic terms his preference for heterosexual sex over homosexual sex, Robertson launched into more thoughts about homosexuality and sinning. “Everything is blurred on what’s right and what’s wrong... Sin becomes fine,” he said.
Yes, she really said it. On CNN’s Piers Morgan Live Tuesday, in a brief discussion about President Obama, Barbara Walters actually said, “We thought that he was going to be - I shouldn´t say this at Christmastime, but - the next messiah” (video follows with transcript and commentary): PIERS MORGAN, HOST: You have interviewed every president of my lifetime. Why is Obama facing so much opposition now? Why is he struggling so much to really fulfill the great flame of ambition and excitement that he was elected on originally in 2009?
Reportage of last week´s Nelson Mandela funeral reveals clearly enough that President Obama has reached the point in his tenure where everything ceases to go right -- when even the most serious and determined efforts deteriorate into a hash, or worse, a joke. This happens to everyone in public life eventually, politicians above all. The original attraction wears thin, flaws appear more prominently, styles and opinions change. There is little the individual can do to avoid this.(snip)The Mandela funeral shows that Obama is deep into this phase of his career, and has landed on his head.
Everyone is doing thoughtful year-end pieces on President Obama. Writers and reporters agree he’s had his worst year ever. I infer from most of their essays an unstated but broadly held sense of foreboding: There’s no particular reason to believe next year will be better, and in fact signs and indications point to continued trouble. I would add that in recent weeks I have begun to worry about the basic competency of the administration, its ability to perform the most fundamental duties of executive management. One reason I worry is that I frequently speak with people who interact with the White
London – Large tapestry portraits of President Barack Obama were unveiled for guests at the U.S. Embassy in London over the weekend. The recently-installed, large-scale tapestry portraits were created by National Medal of Arts winner and renowned American painter, photographer Chuck Close. Close created the portraits by compiling and interweaving Polaroids of the president from an hour-long photo shoot done the summer before, the Washington Post reports. The portraits are nearly 8 feet tall and more than 6 feet wide, with the final piece looking like photos but feeling like textiles. Close used one photo of Obama smiling and another
John Podesta was just named as a new senior-level adviser to President Obama last week, but he´s already ruffling Republican feathers. In a profile published late Tuesday night by Politico Magazine, Podesta is quoted comparing Republicans to the infamous cult led by Jim Jones, who was responsible for the 1978 cyanide poisoning of more than 900 of his followers in Guyana. "They need to focus on executive action given that they are facing a second term against a cult worthy of Jonestown in charge of one of the houses of Congress," said Podesta of what Obama´s White House team faces.
On Monday, Variety reported that Fox News had once again dominated all comers I the annual ratings, not merely blowing out CNN, MSNBC and HLN, but drawing more viewers than the combined averages of the three other networks. Fox News averaged 1.774 million viewers in primetime; the other three averaged a combined 1.626 million viewers in primetime. Fox finished sixth among all basic cable companies. The addition of Megyn Kelly to primetime has been a boon for Roger Ailes and company, with Kelly up 23% in total viewers in the timeslot. No wonder CNN, which is struggling to outpace Headline
The U.S. Army War College, which molds future field generals, has begun discussing whether it should remove its portraits of Confederate generals — including those of Robert E. Lee and Thomas “Stonewall” Jackson. Nestled in rural Pennsylvania on the 500-acre Carlisle Barracks, the war college is conducting an inventory of all its paintings and photographs with an eye for rehanging them in historical themes to tell a particular Army story. During the inventory, an unidentified official — not the commandant, Maj. Gen. Anthony A. Cucolo III — asked the administration why the college honors two generals who fought against the United States,
Hours after we reported that Duck Dynasty star Phil Robertson dropped some illogical “logic” on homosexuality during his GQ interview, his home network A&E decided to indefinitely suspend him from the show. While Robertson’s comments were hilariously ignorant, they were predictable — especially given his family’s socially-conservative, Bible-loving image. Suspending the lead character for his wholly predictable comments is not only an overreaction but a gross misstep. To recap: The Duck Commander patriarch remarked to the men’s magazine that homosexuality is on par with bestiality, and used fifth-grade “logic” to imply that homosexual men should give up their ways of choosing a
Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) took some shots at his fellow Republicans during Tuesday’s Senate debate over the proposed bipartisan budget deal put together by Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI) and Sen. Patty Murray (D-WA). Joining the more moderate wing of the Republican Party, McCain declared his strong support for the deal and accused any members of the GOP who plan to vote against it of lacking “intellectual integrity.” McCain said he was supporting the bill for two reasons: One, to prevent the possibility of another government shutdown, and two, to alleviate the “devastating impact of sequestration on our military.” “The American people steadfastly
