Immigration hearing postponed to
give Senators time to read bill

Daily Caller, by Alex Pappas

Original Article

Posted By:KarenJ1, 4/15/2013 1:19:52 PM

A spokesman for Florida Sen. Marco Rubio says a hearing scheduled Wednesday in the Senate on the comprehensive immigration reform effort being pushed by the the Republican and seven other senators will be postponed until the end of the week. “BREAKING: Lots of concern there wouldn’t be enough time to read bill before Wednesday’s Judiciary hearing, so hearing’s been moved to Friday,” Rubio spokesman Alex Conant wrote on Twitter. A text of the massive bill, which was crafted without public scrutiny by a bipartisan group of senators popularly called the ”Gang of Eight,” has not yet been released.

Comments:
What great news. And I´m sure all of them will read all 1,500 pages, or whatever the number now is. s/o It should be a crime to pass a bill without reading it! I would like to know what little Marxist staffer wrote the bill like what was done on 0bamacare.

Regular order. There is no "crisis" here. The illegals who have been here for decades can deal with the status quo a few weeks or months longer. We owe them - nothing.

Time to read the bill? Something unique in the recent history of the Senate. Assuming they actually read the bill in the time allowed.

On Sunday, I suugested a week´s delay to Senator MConnell.

I also think, as I mentioned in a post yesterday, that Congresspersons should be required, before voting, to file an affidavit, under penalty of perjury, stating that they have read the legislation in question and understand it.

I´ve said it before, and I´ll say it again, they are all committing identity theft if they have worked in the U.S. Lets say it loud, identity theft is a crime! Lets ask everyone if they want their identity used by the "undocumented worker"? Send them all back, or put them in jail. They have a choice to leave before getting arrested. Criminals are not wanted here. At least that is my opinion.

So the senators will be given an extra few days to read the bill. When do we whose inalienable rights are threatened by it get a chance to read it? Zippy is bad enough but now these congress cretins are acting like the politburo. They pass these huge bills so fast that no regular citizen has a chance to influence his representatives. Pelosi´s comment about having to pass the bill so we can see what´s in it doesn´t look so stupid now, rather it has become standard operating procedure (see immigration reform). When the citizen is has no chance to make his voice heard by his representatives, we no longer have a Republic but straight up tyranny.

It is truly amazing that we should be surprised to learn that a massive bill will be read (well, will supposedly be read).

I´d propose that all bills be read in both houses of congress and that attendance be mandatory for a mojority of members before a vote can be taken. An immediated result would be shorter bills.

President Obama’s job approval rating hits a record low this week, as a majority of Americans say his administration has mostly failed at growing the economy, creating jobs, improving health care and the country’s image. That’s according to a Fox News poll released Wednesday. For the first time in a Fox News poll, fewer than four voters in ten -- 38 percent -- approve of President Obama’s job performance. Fifty-four percent disapprove. Before now Obama’s worst job rating was 40-55 percent in November 2013. Last month 42 percent approved and 53 percent disapproved (February 2014). Obama budget would hike duck

Hunters beware: President Obama´s budget released Tuesday would hike duck stamp fees by $140 million over the next decade. Federal duck stamps are issued by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and required for anyone older than 16 who wants to hunt migratory waterfowl. A new $15 stamp must be purchased each year. Among the myriad of increases in taxes and fees in Obama´s fiscal 2015 budget request, the proposal seeks to raise an additional $14 million a year from hunters. The White House Office of Management and Budget projected that this would raise $140 million from 2015 to 2024. The additional federal

The moral righteousness of resistance to Sen. Joe McCarthy (R-WI) and his House Un-American Activities Committee remains vibrant in the imaginations of modern progressives. McCarthy’s myopic campaign to expose communists in high-profile areas of American life was opposed by liberal dissenters who viewed his investigation as an infringement on their rights of free association, speech, and even thought. The modern progressive movement admires their predecessors’ stand against McCarthy so deeply that references to that inauspicious period of American history are regularly deployed in liberal publications and media outlets. Those noble principles apparently go right out the window when Democrats face what increasingly
