Is media bias to blame for lack of Gosnell coverage? Or something far more banal? The trial of Philadelphia doctor Kermit Gosnell would seem to have all the elements of a spectacular news story: shocking allegations, horrifying visuals, sympathetic victims. Yet until late last week, much of the national media was silent as testimony about Gosnell’s alleged “house of horrors” abortion clinic rolled out. Much of the media attention outside Philadelphia, in fact, centered on how little media attention the story was receiving outside Philadelphia.
Comments: WaPo found some column space in the Style section for a piece that basically points a finger at conservative news outlets for lack of coverage. Remember the days when newspapers were looking for scoops?
First the MSM cover-up. Then the MSM lies about the cover-up. This must be Ayers and Rev. Wright, no wait, it´s Obama´s birth certificate, no wait, it´s Fast and Furious, no wait, it´s Benghazi, no wait, it´s the Gosnell trial.
The libtard drive-by media won´t print any stories on Gosnell because it definitely goes against their crusade of infanticide. When Barry´s Death Panels kick in for senior citizens, they´ll ignore those stories too because it goes against their crusade of eugenics.
There is no doubt whatsoever that the media are 97% liberal, enthusiastically support abortion, and are totally ideologocally driven. Conservatives have known this for a very long time. What is really banal here is their phony shock at the accusations.
It´s even worse for the WaPo and the NYC papers as "news" that happens in Philadelphia is generally considered "regional news" since the cities are so close together and easily reached via train.
Hitler would be astonished at how willingly our "free press" tows the leftist line...I mean it´s not even propaganda by "nationalizing" the media...they have literally "nationalized" themselves...there´s not even a use for PBS. It´s completely irrelevant.
Gosnell is obviously black and, by his practice of killing babies (both unborn and unborn, is obviously politically a far left liberal. MSM views him as "one of theirs" and would never participate in exposing him. So they cover for him by ignoring the trial. To do otherwise might hurt their "womens´ choice" agenda.
I was watching MSNBC´s Morning Joe this morning looking for any coverage on this trial. Joe did three segments on the Gosnell trail and encouraging people to read the grand jury report!!!!!!! He interviewed a local reporter and a pro choice ex-governor who served during that time period, and said the laws in place were adequate but there was not enough oversight. He gave details. He compared it to New Town. Joe compared this 30 week baby that was killed, to his own son who was a premature child born in an earlier week of development. It was a beautiful sight to see. A friend had alerted Joe Scarborough to the case.
Good point, #23. The National Socialists were ardent animal rights advocates. Of course, they were a little easy on euthenasia, genocide, tyranny and all that humanity stuff. But, hey, nobody´s perfect.
The Enemedia serves the Left wing extremists/Democrats. They are trying to destroy the moral basis of Christian civilization. Affirmative action, Gay marriage, women´s rights, it is all part of the same effort.
FTA: Moreover, some commentators have pointed out, greater media attention to the trial might help, rather than hurt, abortion rights advocates. They say the graphic testimony about illegal late-term abortions, unlicensed staff and shockingly unsanitary procedures and conditions at Gosnell’s Women’s Medical Society clinic strengthens the case for keeping abortion safe, legal and affordable
Its not safe, women are dying and/or being rushed to ERs. It isn´t legal to kill a baby born alive. And it certainly isn´t affordable to undergo an abortion that delivers a baby that was poisoned in-utero.
"Bias" is a soft, useless word. Saying the media suffers bias misses the point entirely. Protecting Gosnell is just one of thousands of protectorate mafia media events. Most media is controlled by new world order dominating forces. Elegant Diane Sawyer isn´t free to say whatever good thoughts may remain in her pre-brainwashed mind. There are rules in this unionized mafia, rules you do not break. Never discuss the birth certificate issue, never discuss the beautifully established American culture of private gun ownership, never discuss the arming of schools, never discuss fast & furious, our government giving guns to Mexican drug cartels, never discuss Holder supported vote fraud, never discuss tossing UN out of New York, never discuss chaos in gun controlled cities versus relative safety of gun carry cities, of all mind altering products, never discuss no withdrawal goodness of the natural plant, cannabis, never show 24/7 fiat dollar printing, never show disaster that is forced medicine obamaskare. There are endless, prohibited topics on brainwash media/press. Our saving grace is this right here, internet, New Media (and new world order/UN is trying to close this down, too). Not covering Gosnell´s accused crimes is just one of many censorings by statist powers. It ain’t bias. What remains, of all of TV´s lovely and charming Diane Sawyers, is robot power controlled, just like Mr Soetero.
I suspect this clinic and the one in Delaware are the tip of the iceberg when it comes to unsanitary conditions. Why? Because abortionist tend to be at the bottom of the barrel in terms of medical prestige and there are darn few negative consequences for sloppiness. The inspectors are afraid to complain too loudly and the customers who are injured or who get infected are not likely to sue.
This is ironic because when abortion was illegal those physicians who would preform one sub rosa had to be gosh darn careful to get everything perfect. If they didn´t they could lose their license and go to jail.
Did we say the commie/fascist media was "biased"??? Why you use the word "bias" describing today´s American mainstream media? Use the right words - it is leftist propaganda machine who works hand in hand with leftist anti-capitalist, anti-freedom government! And think where it gets its financing from: all the newspapers (they give them practically for free to us), local TV, Google, Facebook... Of course from the leftist government who, by the way owns the banking in the country!
Gosnell was cutting off the hands and feet of babies and keeping them as souvenirs. The Washington Post doesn´t care.
Gosnell was delivering babies alive, then holding them aloft and cutting their necks. The Washington Post doesn´t care.
Gosnell was offering superior treatment and facilities to white women while black women were shunted off to filthy, bloody, unsterile rooms with cat feces on the floor. The Washington Post doesn´t care.
Why doesn´t the Washington Post care?
Because reporting on this would harm the Left´s political narrative.
Similarly, the Washington Post refuses to report on Barack Obama´s arming of Mexican drug cartels because stories about "Operation Fast & Furious" harm the Left´s political narrative. So what, if three hundred Mexican citizens have been murdered thanks to Barack Obama and Eric Holder? The Washington Post doesn´t care.
This is the same newspaper which wrote an editorial explaining why they WEREN´T going to cover the New Black Panther voter intimidation scandal, "despite thousands of phone calls and e-mails expressing intense reader interest."
These people aren´t journalists. They´re cheerleaders for the CommieCrat Party, and telling the TRUTH is the LEAST of their concerns.
This was allowed to happen all these 30 years because of Affirmative Action. AA´s are allowed to do much outside the norm because no one has the bells to report on it as they could be called ´raaaaacist´ and also because this was done mostly on poor black women. I scanned the Grand Jury Report and I´ll tell you, this whole this makes me sick to my stomach. Those poor ladies who had to go through this. The black community needs to do something about the young men (or just men) who plant the seed and leave somone else to take care of the problem. And then to top it off, we see the picture of the EMPTY benches in the courtroom where reporters should be sitting to get information to report on this atrocity. Dear Lord, where are we?
When you acknowledge some seven bloody murders or so, then a logical conclusion would lead to 38 million more. Folks meet your everyday liberal... a mass murderer. Another description would be killings for convenience.
Do you really wonder why the MSM ignored this story. Because these can´t be swept under the rug.
As the President continues to sink in the polls, his advisors apparently think it´s wise for him and his wife to seek refuge amongst their closest supporters in the media. On Wednesday, Al Sharpton announced via Instagram that Michelle Obama will be his radio guest Thursday on his National Action Network: As Mediaite pointed out, it´s not clear whether or not parts or all of this interview will be aired on Sharpton´s show on MSNBC. However, given recent calls for Sharpton and/or his MSNBC producer to be fired as a result of deceptive edits of a Fox News video clip
In a move sure to spark consternation inside the White House, Rep. Phil Gingrey (R-GA) sent a letter Tuesday to embattled Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Kathleen Sebelius requesting she produce a list of the one-on-one meetings she and President Barack Obama allege to have held in the over three-and-a-half years leading up to Obamacare’s calamitous rollout—meetings that do not appear on the White House´s own official calendar. “I have been greatly concerned over the lack of transparency and disregard for straight answers,” says Gingrey in his letter to Sebelius. “The Government Accountability Institute reported this
Amityville, New York -- Law enforcement sources tell Eyewitness News, a 20-year-old Long Island man is under arrest and is expect to be charged with up to 7 counts of ´knockout´ assaults that date back to April of 2013. Darryl Mitchell of Amityville is expected to be charged in the assaults of residents, at least two of them elderly in the Babylon to Amityville area. Darryl Jones says it came out of nowhere. A single, roundhouse punch to the face that left him stunned. And a gash above his eye that took seven stitches to close. "It I wasn't strong enough, I probably would've passed out," Jones said.
After months of consideration, Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., is moving closer to filing a lawsuit in federal court against National Security Agency surveillance programs. A senior Paul staffer says U.S. District Court Judge Richard Leon´s Monday decision that NSA opponents have standing to sue over the bulk collection of phone records makes Paul "much more likely" to file his own lawsuit. The senior staffer, who spoke with U.S. News on background, says hundreds of thousands of people volunteered online as possible plaintiffs after Paul first floated the idea of a class-action lawsuit in June. The senator has not firmly decided to
During a White House meeting called to brief America´s largest tech companies today about government overreach in electronic surveillance, President Barack Obama changed the subject – angering some meeting participants by shifting gears to address the failed launch of healthcare.gov. ´That wasn´t what we came for,´ a vice-president of a company whose CEO attended told MailOnline. ´We really didn´t care for a PR pitch about how the administration is trying to salvage its internal health care tech nightmare.´ One executive said that meeting participants were dead-set against straying from the principal focus of the meeting – the uncomfortable and legally
Yet another federal jurist has determined the White House unlawfully infringed on religious freedom with its blinkered insistence that Obamacare health insurance policies must be identical, no matter what. Brooklyn Federal Judge Brian Cogan rebuked the administration for ordering two New York Catholic high schools — Cardinal Spellman in the Bronx and Monsignor Farrell on Staten Island — to provide contraception and sterilization coverage to employees. Standing for American tradition, Cogan also neatly exposed as a sham the Obama administration’s scheme to pretend the government was not compelling faith-based organizations, such as the high schools, to violate their core beliefs. Obama
ALEPPO, Syria, Dec. 16 -- Both sides accused each other of slaughter as an opposition group said Syrian troops bombed Aleppo and the government said Islamic rebels executed civilians. Syrian military officials said more than 80 civilians in Adra were executed by Islamic rebels and other civilians were kidnapped for use as human shields, RT reported Monday. Government forces were conducting a large-scale operation against Jabhat al-Nusra and Liwa Al-Islam fighters, who recently captured the town. Syria´s official news agency said about 1,000 militants were Adra when government-backed forces entered the town Friday. The opposition group Local Coordination Committees said
Eight Democrats have proposed a bill that would take the death penalty off the table for a variety of serious federal crimes, including espionage, treason and assassinating federal politicians. The Federal Death Penalty Abolition Act. (HR 3741) would "end the death penalty for assassination or kidnapping that results in the death of the president or vice president, and also ends it for the murder of a member of Congress." The list goes on: "using a weapon of mass destruction, or murder done via torture, child abuse, war crimes, aircraft hijackings, sexual abuse, bank robberies or the willful wrecking of a
The Pentagon spent more than $300 million on a battlefield blimp that didn’t work, finally canceling the project earlier this year at a near-total loss of the taxpayer money invested in the project, according to Sen. Tom Coburn’s latest report on government waste. The 2013 installment of Mr. Coburn’s Wastebook suggests that despite recent belt-tightening, the administration has still found new ways to squander money: • $15,000 to collect thousands of gallons of human urine and test it as a hay field fertilizer. • $5 million for new hand-blown crystal stemware, paid by the State Department, just days before the
With all the resources available to Google, you would imagine that the executives and boffins who labour there enjoy an idyllic life. But it turns out that they too suffer from back pain. Neuromuscular pain in the back and neck is the single largest reason for medical treatment at the Californian group. Back pain has become the scourge of the modern office worker. A 2004 study found that Americans spent $90bn a year on it. And the conventional medical cure frequently offers little relief: a review found that up to 50 per cent of patients who had disc surgery felt
In a carefully reasoned opinion issued today, federal district judge Brian M. Cogan of the Eastern District of New York ruled that various Catholic nonprofit institutions that were the supposed beneficiaries of the Obama administration’s phony accommodation on the HHS contraception mandate are entitled to permanent injunctive relief against enforcement of the HHS mandate. (The case is styled Roman Catholic Archdiocese of New York v. Sebelius.) This is the second merits ruling holding that the accommodation doesn’t satisfy the federal Religious Freedom Restoration Act. No court, so far as I’m aware, has ruled the other way. As I noted a
Attorneys for the American Civil Liberties Union appeared in U.S. District Court Friday to argue for a preliminary injunction that would halt the National Security Agency´s collection of all Americans´ phone records. Judge William Pauley did not set a time frame for when he might announce his decision – but as he reviews the case, NSA opponents may have cause for optimism. ACLU legal fellow Brett Max Kaufman, one of the attorneys in court for the hearing, said Pauley seemed skeptical of the government´s reliance on the Supreme Court´s 1979 Smith v. Maryland decision. The landmark ruling found a criminal
President Barack Obama sent Russia a clear message about its treatment of gays and lesbians with who he is — and isn’t — sending to represent the United States at the Sochi Olympics. Billie Jean King will be one of two openly gay athletes in the U.S. delegation for the opening and closing ceremonies, Obama announced Tuesday. For the first time since 2000, however, the U.S. will not send a president, former president, first lady or vice president to the Games. Russia has come under fierce criticism for passing national laws banning “gay propaganda.” Though the White House did not specifically address
The gay and lesbian rights group GLAAD is slamming ´Duck Dynasty´ patriarch Phil Robertson for comments he made about homosexuality to GQ magazine, and challenging the show´s network, A&E, to take action against its most popular star. In a wide-ranging interview, Robertson shared his thoughts on homosexuality and religion. After stating in very graphic terms his preference for heterosexual sex over homosexual sex, Robertson launched into more thoughts about homosexuality and sinning. “Everything is blurred on what’s right and what’s wrong... Sin becomes fine,” he said.
Yes, she really said it. On CNN’s Piers Morgan Live Tuesday, in a brief discussion about President Obama, Barbara Walters actually said, “We thought that he was going to be - I shouldn´t say this at Christmastime, but - the next messiah” (video follows with transcript and commentary): PIERS MORGAN, HOST: You have interviewed every president of my lifetime. Why is Obama facing so much opposition now? Why is he struggling so much to really fulfill the great flame of ambition and excitement that he was elected on originally in 2009?
Reportage of last week´s Nelson Mandela funeral reveals clearly enough that President Obama has reached the point in his tenure where everything ceases to go right -- when even the most serious and determined efforts deteriorate into a hash, or worse, a joke. This happens to everyone in public life eventually, politicians above all. The original attraction wears thin, flaws appear more prominently, styles and opinions change. There is little the individual can do to avoid this.(snip)The Mandela funeral shows that Obama is deep into this phase of his career, and has landed on his head.
Michelle Obama has once again stepped out in her $6,800 J Mendel jacket, despite fielding a backlash last time she wore the pricey garment. [Snip] But the last time she wore the embellished garment, in July 2012 at a Buckingham Palace reception in London, political commentators took issue with the fact that she had spent so much on fashion while so many in the U.S. are suffering financially. A post on the Gateway Pundit blog remarked that the design ´cost more than the average American family makes in a month ($4,284)´. ´She does this as Americans continue to suffer through a
Everyone is doing thoughtful year-end pieces on President Obama. Writers and reporters agree he’s had his worst year ever. I infer from most of their essays an unstated but broadly held sense of foreboding: There’s no particular reason to believe next year will be better, and in fact signs and indications point to continued trouble. I would add that in recent weeks I have begun to worry about the basic competency of the administration, its ability to perform the most fundamental duties of executive management. One reason I worry is that I frequently speak with people who interact with the White
London – Large tapestry portraits of President Barack Obama were unveiled for guests at the U.S. Embassy in London over the weekend. The recently-installed, large-scale tapestry portraits were created by National Medal of Arts winner and renowned American painter, photographer Chuck Close. Close created the portraits by compiling and interweaving Polaroids of the president from an hour-long photo shoot done the summer before, the Washington Post reports. The portraits are nearly 8 feet tall and more than 6 feet wide, with the final piece looking like photos but feeling like textiles. Close used one photo of Obama smiling and another
John Podesta was just named as a new senior-level adviser to President Obama last week, but he´s already ruffling Republican feathers. In a profile published late Tuesday night by Politico Magazine, Podesta is quoted comparing Republicans to the infamous cult led by Jim Jones, who was responsible for the 1978 cyanide poisoning of more than 900 of his followers in Guyana. "They need to focus on executive action given that they are facing a second term against a cult worthy of Jonestown in charge of one of the houses of Congress," said Podesta of what Obama´s White House team faces.
On Monday, Variety reported that Fox News had once again dominated all comers I the annual ratings, not merely blowing out CNN, MSNBC and HLN, but drawing more viewers than the combined averages of the three other networks. Fox News averaged 1.774 million viewers in primetime; the other three averaged a combined 1.626 million viewers in primetime. Fox finished sixth among all basic cable companies. The addition of Megyn Kelly to primetime has been a boon for Roger Ailes and company, with Kelly up 23% in total viewers in the timeslot. No wonder CNN, which is struggling to outpace Headline
The U.S. Army War College, which molds future field generals, has begun discussing whether it should remove its portraits of Confederate generals — including those of Robert E. Lee and Thomas “Stonewall” Jackson. Nestled in rural Pennsylvania on the 500-acre Carlisle Barracks, the war college is conducting an inventory of all its paintings and photographs with an eye for rehanging them in historical themes to tell a particular Army story. During the inventory, an unidentified official — not the commandant, Maj. Gen. Anthony A. Cucolo III — asked the administration why the college honors two generals who fought against the United States,
Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) took some shots at his fellow Republicans during Tuesday’s Senate debate over the proposed bipartisan budget deal put together by Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI) and Sen. Patty Murray (D-WA). Joining the more moderate wing of the Republican Party, McCain declared his strong support for the deal and accused any members of the GOP who plan to vote against it of lacking “intellectual integrity.” McCain said he was supporting the bill for two reasons: One, to prevent the possibility of another government shutdown, and two, to alleviate the “devastating impact of sequestration on our military.” “The American people steadfastly
Valerie Jarrett denied being a “shadow chief of staff” to President Obama on Wednesday, insisting she never talks about work during her private time with the president and first lady. “I´m not the shadow chief of staff. I have very specific responsibilities,” Jarrett, a senior adviser to the president and a longtime family friend of the Obamas, said at a Politico breakfast. [WATCH VIDEO] Jarrett said that “people sometimes presume because I am a friend of the president and first lady” that she´s able to exert influence when the Obamas retire from the office to their residence. “There is this
