Here is something I don’t understand: liberals are often revealed as vile, vulgar hatemongers–not all of them, of course, but far too many–yet they never seem to pay a penalty at the polls. Why is that? Margaret Thatcher’s death has been the latest occasion for the Left to show its true stripes. All across the U.K., there have been demonstrations–vulgar at best, and violent at worst. In Bristol, lefties celebrating a Thatcher “death street party” started fires, destroyed property and battled police: This evening in Trafalgar Square, liberals have turned out for a long-planned celebration of Thatcher’s death:
Libtards have infested themselves everywhere and use their hate mongering, racial baiting and outright lies as influence for the low information voter who wants more and more freebies off the worker backs.
Because the Left has owned the vocabulary for decades: a homeless man is an ´´urban outdoorsman´´; change of seasons is now ´´climate change´´; entitlements are ´´rights´´; Caucasians have become ´´racists´´; Christians are ´´intolerant homophobes´´; and babies are ´´fetuses´´ (see also: ´´choice´´.)
Like Occupy Wall Streeters and embassay protesters these people are mindless flash mobbers with no clear idea why they assemble. Just the thought of hating something draws them out. We all know it´s a mental illness.
When I was a young woman in the late 60´s early 70´s, I worked in Boston. Up until then, most of my info about the hippies was from the tv/newspaper and I thought little of them. But taking a lunch break in Boston, I frequently encountered these people on my walks around the city. First the stench, then you heard the chants or they actually tried to engage you in dialogue. You realized they were filthy, hateful, stupid people who littered our sidewalks and interfered with people working hard trying to earn a living. The dregs of society. Now they teach in our schools.
Another amazing thing about this topic is how liberals don´t see that their ugliness and hate will ultimately turn back on them. They are useful and part of the "in group" one minute and the next minute expendable because of a new random hatred. The value in this mindset is merely momentary and subject to the next perceived slight.
The left couldn´t exist without a cartoon image of their opponents...us. They only act the way they do as a response to how awful we are. As Tammy Bruce says, not only are they not smarter than us, there´s something wrong with them.
Yes, #6. Also, the average left-leaning Lo Fo individual has been taught to always hold something or someone else accountable for the bad decisions an individual may make. It´s the victim thing. There always has to be a victim. Why dont more people reject the left-leaning way? Look at the big picture. The schools have become liberal indoctrination centers. This has fostered an indoctrinating msm and gummint. Now the real answer. More people will repel the letie way, but only after their lives go through some serious hardship - no money, no job, no food, no energy, no communications. Once they realise they have been reduced to walking vegetables, they will wake up. Too many things about the left have become inbred. The repulsion of the left will have to begin at the pre-school age and carry forward through a generation. Indeed, belief by the Creator has been replaced by belief and obeyance to the State.
#9 - you got that right! The Left has been dumbing down a generation (or two) of kids in our schools by wielding steady pressure with the battle axe of White guilt while promoting and hansomly rewarding victimhood in a Politically Correct, feel-good campaign to fundamentally transform this country. Now with their Hood Ornament in the White House our economy has been wound down to the point where almost half is now made up of unemployed, barely aware, dope-smoking, self-absorbed, media-influenced, celebrity-obsessed, Food-Stamp wielding, Escalade driving, Kool-Aid drinking, government-dependent, entitlement rich, busted-azz, free-loading, Lo Fo Obamaphone zombies while enlisting the help of the ignorant, gullible, White guilt-ridden, Birkenstock-wearing, bottled-water-drinking, Politically Correct, Xanax-disabled, Valium-dependent, spineless Socialist Liberal lemmings and the two times stupid Obama-voting Honey Boo Boo union slugs who are simply out for their own! Much of our society has left worshipping God and the Golden Rule in the dust, something the Left adores because they want to be god!
Agree with #9 and #10 above. While we were busy raising families, working, and living our lives the left was hard at work taking over academia and spreading their immoral, hateful, intolerant message through every school and university in the country. Now we are facing the results.
Poster #2 reminds me of how long they have controlled the language to further their goals. When I was a child, we called people who didn´t work, were not responsible, and consequently ended up living in the streets "bums" or "vagrants". Almost all people living under these conditions do so by choice and are either alcoholics or druggies (usually both).
They were shunned by moral society. Changing the language to "homeless" was one small part of the quite successful drive to normalize and reward deviant and irresponsible behavior. Now we have millions of people living like leaches off the toil of others and treated sympathetically (somehow) as innocent victims.
More people aren´t repelled by the left because people who are seeking answers like the smell of a winner, and the left has been much more bold and fearless at their game than has the right. The right is cowed, the left is rampant today.
Across a crowded room -- one can spot the libturds quickly. They talk to loudly -- spout their ideology forcefully -- refuse to allow YOUR point of view -- and dismiss your credibility, i.e. they think they are better educated.....
I simply let them rant and smile and shake my head....
I understand, more than ever, how Communist parties outside the USSR changed their line to follow the latest word from Moscow AND how Germanns in their millions, presumably rational, cheered for the Fuhrer almost to the end.
To the authors question, why do the rest of us tolerate the childish tantrums of the left - they are vicious and dangerous and we must try to protect ourselves as best we can when they are in control. To the other question why is the left so vicious and dangerous? They are grown up children who have never experienced that they do not control their parents yet the parents love them and care for them. Hitler was a prime example of this. The first time he didn´t get his way was when he lost the second world war! Leftists security lies in controlling first their parents and later the government as their source of life. Anything they perceive as a threat to that they will fight with single minded passion.
It´s pretty simple. The Left is envious of the Right. That´s why you see all of the vitriol from the Left. They seem steeped in schadenfreude towards the success of anyone on the right. Fortunately for them, anger turns into passion come election time and we get what we get. Hard to say if the Right will ever get enough people out to vote again. I fear we´re destined to become a nation of takers until the givers are out of cash.
#20 the proper response to your nephew is to say "Really????? You are SO smart. Do you think we should send ALL the conservatives who vote for him to some kind of prison so they can´t bother us?" Make him defend himself.
It´s mainly anger that drives these miscreants- free floating anger at their own lives, missed opportunities, hateful parents, futureless future. Bleakness is theirs. Acting out is their safety valve; having others do the same thing is a comfort to them. We will always have people like this amongst us.
It´s an interesting question, and the earlier posts contain a good deal of truth. I´d say there are four main reasons why they don´t suffer at the polls for their antics:
- the cultural and moral deterioration in our society. My guess is that for an increasing percentage of the population Democrat lies, anger and vulgarity reflect the way they deal with problems and disputes in their own lives. They see nothing exceptional in the Dem´s conduct. It´s another manifestation of the "new normal".
- The Dems are the party of the freebie, and people will tolerate and rationalize much if they´re convinced there is something in it for them. As we all know, "Ask not what your country can do for you..." would never resonate today.
- Friendly media, which never fail to frame issues to the libtards´ advantage and provide them with an uncritical megaphone.
- Weak and inconsistent GOP opposition. People will believe whatever is drummed into their heads most often, and the Dems have been able to badly tarnish the GOP brand. Plenty of people who don´t feel comfortable with the Dems vote for them anyway because, as far as they´re concerned, ANYTHING is better than a Republican.
Visiting England back in 2006 it was amazing to me that everyone I talked to (and I wasn´t selecting friends that thought like me) thought conservative ideas should rule...but they were first in line to get their welfare/retirement etc. checks.
Not surprising, the whole country was a collection of Takers!
The Left continues to draw the middle because the Left "pays" for that privilege through government largess.
The Right obsesses about the low-end, street level manifestation of that largess, but we never address the enormous role Government asserts over the high-functioning, suburban Middle and the Middle Class. They´re not going to bite the hand that feeds them or threatens them with the soft-fascism of government over-regulation.
The most common manifestation I see for this is the comment I so often read here, "I´m too busy earning a living to get active in politics." The Left never has that problem because the Left makes it´s living from Big Government. They don´t need to be productive citizens. They get a pass on economic and moral accountability at all levels because they make their living in the realm of the only institution that never has to account for itself morally or fiscally -- Big Government.
I have become convinced that the primary mission statement of every Constitutional Conservative´s must be -- Defund the Government. A massive reduction in federal spending is the only solution to the imbalance of political power and return to moral and economic sanity.
You think that the reaction in the UK to Lady Thatcher´s death is bad, just wait until Dick Cheney dies. I´m telling you, we haven´t seen anything yet when it comes to bad, rotten behavior from the left.
I can´t speak for the Brits, but in America it´s another "frog in boiling water" moment. If we start at a baseline of 1945, and assume the Soviets really did have a plan to undermine our society from within, I´d say they succeeded beyond their wildest dreams. 1963 was a pivotal year for them, as was 1969 and 2008. In 2013 we find ourselves a completely alien society from our baseline. It´s been a hockey stick since 1969 and we are nowhere near the apex. We have an unabashed Communist Club in Congress, Communists in our Grade Schools and Universities, Communists in our Union Movements and a Radical Communist in the White House. Combine a feckless Republican opposition and a dumbed-down citizenry, it´s not a pretty picture. The water is roiling... soon to be at full boil.
It´s not evident to John Hinderaker because he is not a Believer.
Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator--who is forever praised. Amen. Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones. In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion. Furthermore, since they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, he gave them over to a depraved mind, to do what ought not to be done. They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips, slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents; they are senseless, faithless, heartless, ruthless.
There are too many shiftless, whiny liberal "victims." This past election showed us that the lazy excuse-makers outnumber the productive taxpayers. When there are more of them than there are of us, fear sets in. Imagine a flash mob times a million. That´s what it will be like if you take away what the non-productive majority feel they are entitled to.
The feeling that the troublemakers can get away with anything started when police stopped shooting looters during riots and national disasters.
What 28 says is as perfectly true as can be stated.
We conservatives are busy being responsible while the Left is growing because of the attraction not working & not worrying has for a growing dependent population. I got on our local school board to try to take on the Leftist vermin, but until there´s a majority of conservatives on these boards, the battle is impossible to win because of the tremendous momentum of government largesse. We´re tilting at wind mills as it were.
People are repelled by them. Do we ever see any of this represented, fairly, in the media? Nope. Lefties will go anywhere to shut you up, too. Vulgarity. Anger. Filth. In the end, tho, all they do is parrot their party line so if you hang in there, they quickly lose the ability to ´discuss´ anything and resort to name calling. That´s when you know you´ve won.
I´ve been thinking about this quite a bit recently. I think #32 has the answer. Three times it says God "gave them over"--to sexual impurity, to shameful lusts and to a depraved mind. It says their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. That is, they had been able to see what was right and wrong, but they became blind.
If you can´t see that the left is doing repellent things, you won´t be repelled by them. Unfortunately that describes more and more people in America today.
Because writers like Hinderaker write 2" deep stories like this, with headlines like this, and conclude "I don´t get it" -- so that everyone else can take the bait and fill in the blanks for what Hinderaker really, really knows. Write a better researched stoy, Mr. Jornalist. Perhaps if the people helping the Left overhthrow the country, too dumb to know the old boss from the new boss, were shown that they have a hand in treason and ruining the character of their brothers and sisters, maybe the Left would stop repelling. Not all repulsive people are evil. They do it for attention. Not all Evil people believe they are evil. But all the Evil people, or the spirits inside them, know Jesus is Lord, and tremble. Just a little more, Hinderaker. You can do it.
There are two problems. One, the public education system needs to be shut down. period. If you support public education and have your children in public education, you are part of the problem. Yank em out, SUE over your property taxes, and teach your children yourself. All we be better for it. Number Two: the Big Problem. Democrats are the way they are because we let them. For decades the Moderates among us have demanded, DEMANDED, the GOP act more like the very people we do not want to be. The people in MY party who thought John McCain, or ANY senator for that matter would make a good president ARE the problem. The Democrats can be defeated easily. It is a shame the GOP is in to big of a hurry to be just like them. As a result, good people, like me, are fast losing interest in politics because NONE, and I do mean NONE of the Conservative Hard Work is ever, ever, ever rewarded. Moderates among us would rather make a deal with the Democrats as opposed to standing up to them and calling them out. Won´t get invited to the right parties you know. Meanwhile the Democrats would rather make a deal with Mexicans and Muslims before making a deal with their fellow countrymen. Don´t believe me? Who did AlGore sell his TV station to? Clue up. Now. Cheers.
It goes back to the Garden. Man is sinful by nature. Not wanting to do wrong all the time but live independent of God. Man tries to live without God because God demands man be responsible and accountable for his actions. That goes against man´s nature so man would rather live however he wants without judgment and without consequences; it´s how man defines liberty and freedom and it draws man away from God instead of towards Him.
Liberals offer people a non-judgmental, no consequences life, just what man wants, but definitely not what man needs. Also, it´s what links the media with liberals. The media needs people to live irresponsible lives so they can sell their products, programs, lifestyles and ideologies. The more irresponsible you are, the more they love it. Likewise, the more dependent you are of the government and the more mindless and thoughtless you are, the more the left loves it.
The enemy of the left and media is responsible people, people who live by truth, facts and learn from history and know there is consequences for one´s actions. Those people are usually the Godly and the Christian. Those people are the enemy of the media and now the enemy of the state. Those people are now in the minority.
Joshua Strange will never forget the girl he met in May 2011. Both were underclassmen at Alabama´s Auburn University when a common acquaintance introduced them. "We instantly became attached at the hip and did everything together," she recalled six months later. "I rather quickly moved into his place. . . . Everything was great until pretty much June 29." That night, an intimate encounter in Mr. Strange´s bed went wrong. She called police, who detained him for questioning. She said she had awakened to find him forcing himself on her; he said the sexual activity was consensual and initiated by
Sen. Ted Cruz isn’t on the ballot next year, but as candidates meet Monday’s filing deadline for Republican primaries, he appears ever-present. Cruz’s tea party-fueled, come-from-behind trouncing of David Dewhurst in the Senate race last year has provided him a gravitational pull that is moving GOP candidates further right and producing scores of would-be first-time officeholders. “You’ve got two things happening,” said Republican political consultant Bill Miller. One of them is the “Cruz phenomenon, and he is the phenom at this moment,” he said. “The other is that conservatives believe that if they’re going to succeed — with the Democratic administration in Washington
Six months after the Internal Revenue Service´s inspector general revealed that the tax-collection agency had been targeting conservative organizations for added scrutiny and delaying their applications for tax-exempt status, the IRS has proposed new rules for handling political activity by nonprofits. The proposed rules would plunge the agency deeper into political regulation. The rules would upset more than 50 years of settled law and practice by limiting the ability of certain tax-exempt nonprofits, organized under Section 501(c)(4) of the Internal Revenue Code, to conduct nonpartisan voter registration and voter education. Such organizations would be forbidden to leave records of officeholder votes
Fact: The IRS targeted conservative and tea party groups requesting tax-exempt status in the run-up to the 2012 presidential election. That’s a fact. Congress held hearings — embarrassing hearings. Three top Internal Revenue Service officials resigned. No heads rolled, but for the Obama administration, and the lawless Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr., that amounted to a major scandal. Even White House spokesman Jay “Circus” Carney called the IRS’ actions “inappropriate.” Fact. But President Obama, in an interview last week with sycophant Chris Matthews, now says the entire scandal was made up by the media. “When we do things right, they don’t get
Bob Dole once made a droll crack to the New York Times about Newt Gingrich, then the speaker of the House. “Gingrich’s staff has these five file cabinets, four big ones and this little tiny one,” Dole said. “Number one is ‘Newt’s ideas.’ Number two, ‘Newt’s ideas.’ Number three, number four, ‘Newt’s ideas.’ The little one is ‘Newt’s Good Ideas.’” Here’s one from Gingrich’s little file: he has been pushing back against some of the more thoughtless conservative reactions to the death of Nelson Mandela. The backlash has ranged from the merely tone-deaf—think of Rick Santorum drawing comparisons between Obamacare and
More than any other subject, apolitical sorts will ask me about Fox News. “Is it really crazy?” my British friends inquire, flashing the sort of smile that a botanist might exhibit while examining a newly discovered species of moss. “Is it, like, really right wing?” The question has always slightly irritated me, showing as it does that the considerable success that the Left has had in demonizing its opposition extends even across the Atlantic. Certainly, both Fox’s commentary and its ostensibly straight reporting are marked by the right-leaning proclivities of its owners. But the notion that the network is unique in
The good news, if you want to call it that, is that roughly 1.6 million Americans have enrolled in ObamaCare so far. The not-so-good news is that 1.46 million of them actually signed up for Medicaid. If that trend continues, it could bankrupt both federal and state governments. Medicaid is already America’s third-largest government program, trailing only Social Security and Medicare, as a proportion of the federal budget. Almost 8 cents out of every dollar that the federal government spends goes to Medicaid. That’s more than $265 billion per year. Indeed, already Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid account for 48% of federal spending.
On Wednesday afternoon, a bunch of twentysomethings were summoned to the White House to hear an infomercial from Barack Obama himself. He was pitching health insurance. “The product is good. It’s affordable,” the President told them. “… We’re going to keep working through any glitches, problems that may come up.” He urged them to spread the word. “So if you’re a student body president, set up a conference on campus … If you’re a bartender, have a happy hour … Post something on your Facebook or Instagram.”Mr. Obama desperately needs healthy young people to sign on to Obamacare in order
Hillary Clinton may be the overwhelming front-runner for the Democratic presidential nomination in 2016, but she’s going to have to deal with some knotty problems sooner or later. She can’t ignore forever either her party or the media’s entreaties to talk on important subjects. The first problem surely is health care. President Obama won’t allow it to be repealed, so the Affordable Care Act will be hanging there, damaged and disliked for Clinton to address. Will she throw it and her former boss overboard, call for a single-payer plan as a sop to the left and risk scaring off the
What will history make so far of our five-year voyage with Barack Obama? What will it make of hope and change — other than a sort of hysteria of 2008 that was a political version of the Pet Rock or the Cabbage Patch Doll derangement? Did we really experience faux-Greek columns and Latin mottoes (vero possumus) as Obama props to usher in the new order of the ages? What exactly made David Brooks focus on trouser creases, or Chris Matthews on involuntary leg tickles? How could any serious person believe a candidate who promised to change the very terrain of the
House Republicans say they’re proud of their 2013 campaign to stymie President Obama’s regulatory agenda, even as Congress comes under fire for one of its least productive years. The bitterly divided Congress will pass fewer laws in 2013 than any year in modern history. As a result of the gridlock, President Obama has turned to his administration’s regulatory authority in pursuit of key policy goals, including efforts to tackle gun violence and climate change. While House Republicans have pinned the blame for Congress’ anemic legislative output on Senate Democrats, they make no bones about their efforts to blunt Obama’s rulemaking power. “We’re left
The Grinch — and anyone else trying to dampen the holiday spirit — should stay away from Texas this year. A group of Texans is coming out in full force to protect Christmas, Hanukkah and other holiday celebrations and to make sure students, teachers and parents have the right to observe their holidays at school. “It’s time to end the war on Christmas and stop forcing our schools to bow at the altar of political correctness,” said Jonathan Saenz, president of Texas Values, which is spearheading a Merry Christmas Texas effort. After legal battles that prevented a student a decade ago from handing
The question all week long was this: Who are you going to believe, an illegal alien or the president of the United States of America? Obviously, if it’s a president who once went by an alias, Barry Soetoro, you go with Uncle Omar, 100 percent, no questions asked. And so it was that the White House finally admitted to another, uh, misstatement — despite previous denials, Barack/Barry did sleep on his beloved Uncle Omar’s couch in Cambridge when he first moved here to attend Harvard Law School (speaking of which, we’re still waiting to see the president’s grades and his LSAT scores). But the
More young men in California rise in pitch at the end of their sentences when talking, new research shows. This process is known as "uptalk" or "valleygirl speak" and has in the past been associated with young females, typically from California or Australia. But now a team says that this way of speaking is becoming more frequent among men.The findings were presented at the Meeting of the Acoustical Society of America in California. "We found use of uptalk in all of our speakers, despite their diverse backgrounds in socioeconomic status, ethnicity, bilingualism and gender," said Amanda Ritchart, a linguist at the University of
How do you get your arms around the catastrophe known as Obamacare? Is it even possible? At this point, I’m not sure it is. The list of individual disasters which threaten to ruin one-sixth of the U.S. economy and what has been, up until now, the best healthcare system in the world is exhaustive, and exhausting. The examples I will identify here barely scratch the surface. First but by no means foremost, we have the supposedly new and improved HealthCare.gov. Except it’s not, even the visible part. Stories still abound of people still failing to get in or to get through the enrollment
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has announced a new five-year strategic plan to improve safety for elderly drivers and passengers. Although they are statistically among the safest on the road, the number of older drivers is increasing dramatically — and with it, that group´s numbers of injuries and deaths. Since 2003, the population of older adults, defined as age 65 and older, has increased by 20% and the number of licensed older drivers increased by 21% to 35 million in 2012, according to NHTSA. Last year, NHTSA reported that 5,560 people older than 65 died and 214,000 were injured
President Barack Obama’s Facebook page on Saturday posted a message honoring the dead from Pearl Harbor—accompanied by a picture of Obama descending the stairs next to the Pearl Harbor Memorial. The picture barely fits the name of the Arizona Memorial so it can frame Obama in the foreground. The post´s statement reads: Today, with solemn pride and reverence, let us remember those who fought and died at Pearl Harbor, acknowledge everyone who carried their legacy forward, and reaffirm our commitment to upholding the ideals for which they served. President Obama The Obama Administration´s current shipbuilding plan shrinks the size of
Barack Obama did not tell the whole story this autumn when he tried to make the case that Bashar al-Assad was responsible for the chemical weapons attack near Damascus on 21 August. In some instances, he omitted important intelligence, and in others he presented assumptions as facts. Most significant, he failed to acknowledge something known to the US intelligence community: that the Syrian army is not the only party in the country’s civil war with access to sarin, the nerve agent that a UN study concluded – without assessing responsibility – had been used in the rocket attack. In the months before the attack,
Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel, the hapless, goalpost-shifting so-called "architect" of Obamacare, told Fox News´ Chris Wallace on Fox News Sunday that President Barack Obama´s promise "if you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor" was absolutely true--with one important caveat: if you like your doctor, "you can pay for it." Wallace grilled Dr. Emanuel, challenging his false claims that California´s enrollment was keeping pace with the percentage of the young population necessary to keep the system afloat, and pointing out that the president´s promise on doctors would collapse once people lost their insurance or their
The U.S. isn´t called "America the Beautiful" for nothing. Each year, millions of tourists come from home and abroad to see the country´s majestic landscape and iconic sites, from the Grand Canyon to the Statue of Liberty. But there are also cool, quirky attractions, like Vermont´s Ben & Jerry´s Factory and Tennessee´s Graceland, the former home of Rock and Roll King Elvis Presley. From California to New York and everywhere in between, the country is chock-full of incredible attractions that keep luring in visitors. Here are the best tourist attractions in every state.
Although the jobless rate in November fell to its lowest level since he took office, President Obama called on Republican lawmakers Saturday to spend tens of billions on unemployment benefits that are set to expire this month. “It shouldn’t be a partisan issue,” Mr. Obama said in his weekly address. But he said the “economic lifeline” is in jeopardy. “All because Republicans in this Congress — which is on track to be the most unproductive in history — have so far refused to extend it” Mr. Obama said. If Congress doesn’t act before lawmakers leave on their holiday break, about
Many people could die as extreme weather becomes common. There will be more freak winds like the October storm, which killed four people. Heatwaves will be lethal and the sea level will rise, leaving coastal towns at risk of being swamped by storm surges. Sir Brian Heap, president of the European Academies Science Advisory Council, said he felt “obliged” to issue the warning after a new study by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. It comes on the back of Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines, which has killed more than 5,000 people. Sir Brian said: “Given the tragic events this
Call me Grinch, call me Scrooge. Call me Lord Voldemort of the Yuletide. None could be worse than sending me a holiday card with glossy photographs of your lovely, smiling family. My wife, Emily, and I place your cards like trophies on our shelves, continuing an old-school practice that began about 175 years ago as a way of maintaining relationships as families and friends moved far and wide. Today’s cards may appear more personalized — with photos of spouses, kids and pets, and distribution lists much smaller than a sprawling collection of Facebook friends. But when I flip over the photo
Chris Matthews is crazy. Nevertheless, when left-wingers talk openly with one another, their craziness can be revealing. That is the case, I think, with this remarkable MSNBC clip. Matthews, fresh from his kneepad interview with President Obama, praises what he terms a uniquely brilliant insight by Al Sharpton: South Africa’s white politicians of the apartheid era were more patriotic than today’s Republicans: I haven’t heard anything as smart as what I heard Reverend Sharpton say a moment go in five years. The difference between the way F.W. de Klerk handled the need for change and the election – democratic election
