The political calculus of gun control
Kennebec Journal [Augusta, ME], by Kevin Miller

Washington - Last week, the two competing heavyweights in the debate over gun control — the National Rifle Association and Mayors Against Illegal Guns — announced that they will both "score," or grade, members of the Senate on upcoming votes. (Snip) Sen. Susan Collins has a C+ rating from the NRA, which puts her tied for the lowest score among Senate Republicans. Yet she sailed to re-election in 2008 and enjoyed a 66 percent approval rating among Maine Republicans — and 60 percent among Democrats — in a recent poll. On Saturday, Collins threw her support behind a bipartisan

Comments:
Article says that the other senator, Angus King, will vote like Collins. This is NO surprise. What would be if Maine would quit electing dRATS in RINO clothing and stop this watering down of our GOP political Tea Party.

To think that these traitors would so easily take away our right to defend ourselves and our families from those who would harm us.

For shame.

One factor that they don´t seem to be considering: They can play the political circle-j game all they want to, reach "compromises," pass more ineffectual ridiculous laws, hold press conferences, whatever.

We will not comply.

#2 - that "some politician" is Governor LePage, an actual conservative, whose life story is nothing to sniff about. Check him out - he´s the real deal.

As for Collins, I find it laughable when I read stuff like this:

"...and enjoyed a 66 percent approval rating among Maine Republicans — and 60 percent among Democrats."

They´re actually crowing that there´s just 6% difference in approval between GOP and Democrats when it comes to her approval rating? More proof that Maine is run from Portland, and the rest (anything north of Portland) is left behind.

Former Acting CIA Director Michael Morell gave his first public testimony on the Benghazi attack yesterday. Morell denied allegations that he or the agency bowed to political pressure to change the talking points. He said he believed CIA analysts who thought the attack was a protest, rather than the station chief on the ground. One of the four Americans killed was Foreign Service Officer Sean Smith. Bill Hemmer spoke to his uncle, Michael Ingmire today on America’s Newsroom. Ingmire said the conversation moved forward during the hearing, but he still wasn’t satisfied. That’s because Gosnell’s crimes involved killing babies as an abortion doctor and he was convicted only of the first-degree murders of three children and involuntary manslaughter of one mother. But two filmmakers hope to change the lack of notoriety for Gosnell, who is serving a life sentence in Pennsylvania for his crimes. The Senate Intelligence Committee voted Thursday to make public a long-awaited report that concludes that the CIA’s use of brutal interrogation measures failed to produce valuable intelligence, and that the agency repeatedly misled government officials about the severity and success of the program. The decision, opposed by three Republicans on the panel, means that the findings will now be delivered to the White House and the CIA, putting the agency in the awkward position of having to declassify a document that delivers a scathing verdict on one of the most controversial periods in its history.

Its vanguard is now made up of just a few elite divisions of highly-motivated, well trained, and fully equipped volunteer soldiers, capable of deploying swiftly anywhere in the former Soviet Union on the Kremlin's command.

With Chris Christie in deep trouble, Republican poobahs are reportedly looking to Jeb Bush to save their party in 2016. The former two-term governor of Florida speaks fluent Spanish, is a convert to Catholicism, and has high name recognition. Jeb could raise millions of dollars over night by just saying “yes” to running. Despite all this, there are strong reasons Republicans should say no to him. 1. His last name is poison. Let’s face it, if Jeb Bush had the last name of Something Else he would have already run for president in 2008 or 2012. According to a recent Washington Post/ABC News poll registered voters were asked if they would definitely NOT vote for Jeb Bush and 50 percent said they would not.
