The Decline of Obama
Weekly Standard, by Fred Barnes

Original Article

Posted By:StormCnter, 4/13/2013 5:13:17 AM

With President Obama, there’s always a catch. In the 2014 budget he announced last week, Obama proposed a more accurate way of calculating the inflation rate for annual cost-of-living increases in Social Security. It’s a technical change in pursuit of honesty and good government. And if adopted, it would cause benefits to grow more slowly, though almost imperceptibly so. Republican leaders in Congress ought to be delighted since they had “championed”—Obama’s word—the idea in the first place. Then came the catch. The president’s price for adopting this gentle reform was hundreds of billions in new tax increases.

Of course they´re goingto target smokers again along with certain models of rich people, both of whom are gated by the public. Why not a $50 tax on medicaid people doctor shopping and selling the pills on the street. Everybody should hate these people also. The abortion doctor, in addition to butchering babies had to also be a huge tax cheat with a cash only business.

This government already has way more money than it needs,it´s just a part of a leftist´s DNA to want tax increases to protect he status quo that donate to their politicians.

The hypocrisy of Obama wanting more taxes on the rich while paying a lousy 18% himself should draw the ire of the whole country but it´ll be out of the news cycle in a couple days. These same people demanded Romney pay through the nose.

I hope Fred is correct, but I´m afraid it´s wishful thinking for the most part. I do think, though, that the novelty of the Obama presidency has worn thin, even with some who supported him.

Zero and the Mooche are becoming more egregious each week as they spend more and more of our hard-earned dollars on vacations and useless trips on Air Force One at $180,000 an hour.

Obama was never an influential White House occupant. The left loves him because he´s a marxist minority. Outside of that, Obama has never been able to influence anyone to his side of a position. If fact, the more he speaks on a topic, the less popular he and that topic are.

That Obama is influential, brilliant and an eloquent speaker is a fantasy of the media. "Obama" the gifted orator, brilliant law professor, post partisan, post racial unifier and healer of the world is an "URBAN LEGEND".

Obama will be entirely irrelevant after the 2014 midterms after the people get done taking out their anger and rage on Democrats.

"Obama is relevant. He’s just not the president he once was."

The Child in Chief has simply lost his magical power of illusion. He used to get away with the lies and deception by misdirection, smoke and mrrors. Now that his tricks are known, more people can see it coming.

He still has the delusion that those who surround him are stupid, when the facts prove that he is the one with the brain cell deficiency. He will not get his huge tax increase as set out in his late joke of a budget and he will not make a significant dent in gun control because he is not fighting congress on this one, he is fighting us. Time to pack the bags barry, and make room for a real president.

Grudgingly, I admit Obama is a fascinating study in pathology.

His entire life has been based on constructing one fraud after another as he relies on the social anxiety of others to escape any scrutiny. It´s worked in one scenario after another - an unbroken string of reinforcement. Ulterior motives are his first priority; sneaking around is a way of life.

He bloviates about Subject ABC and even his strongest supporters wonder what Subject XYZ, i.e. the subject he really wants to address, might be, because he has not the courage, the clarity of mind, nor the discipline to address any subject head-on.

I think Fred is off by about half. Obama is so far left that any proposal the gang of 8 makes will seem centrist when it is still left of center. So by Obama being out there campaigning he is paving the way for liberal movement.

Barnes is delusional like most of the traditional conservative media. The old rules about governance don´t apply to Soetero. His aim is a ´constitutional dictatorship´ like Chavez´s. When you have that aim, Congress--checks and balances--the Constitution--scarcely matters. What matters are: ´the lo-info masses´, the MSM (now including Fox), Soros, Buffett, the SVF (Silicon Valley Fascists) and the cultural Fascists. THAT is the prism we need to evaluate this Marxist through.

Obama may seem to have declining influence over Congress, but that is only because he knows it doesn´t matter. He is busy enacting his agenda through the executive branch. He also doesn´t abide by any judicial decisions. He has chopped off the other two banches. His power has most certainly not declined.

The evil ones are using Obama to get their agendas put in place.

What does the O and his ilk care. He´ll walk off the stage with money in his pocket, a beautiful home in Hawaii, and speaking engagements and lots of golf.

This way by putting the O down Billery looks so much better and she´ll ride the crest that she is sooooo much better.

It´s all a game to these people with the workers of the US footing the bill while they enjoy themselves. It´s like a slave ship.

Obama and Jesses Jackson are out of the same mould. Remember that if someone did not go along with Jessie Jackson, he would make sure they were boycotted and ruined. (Guess that is still happening). Same thing with Obama. If you don´t do exactly what he wants, he makes sure you are taxed more, slammed by the liberal media and run out of business. It is happening repeatedly. And the American people are just sitting here, letting it happen. If Obama is not for you, you are out of business. This country is no longer a free country, it is a country run by Obama and his czars.

I agree with #13. Barnes didn´t even hit the side of the barn. Obama is merely a puppet who will say anything he is told to say, put the money in his pocket, and take the jet out for a spin to his next fundraiser/party. The corrupt democrats are responsible for giving us Obama and they have known all along that he truly is worthless. Let us "hope" that he will destroy them because this country will not survive. Is Obama destroying the country or the democrat party?

Our Great Leader is a fraud. When did Barry Soetero change his name to Barack Obama, and when did Barry become a US citizen? The Chicago Democrats spend two million dollars fighting the birth certificate suits in Federal Courts and the judges ruled that Allen Keyes had NO STANDING. How can that be, when Allen Keyes ran for President against Barry in 2008.

I suspect that the DNC somehow threatened the Federal Judges , but I may be wrong.

It’s a fact: repubics badly lost several elections. Of course, 2010 was a success, but it was commies who went too commie/fascist style and scared some folks. Obviously, they didn’t repeat this mistake in 2012. And it looks by what they are doing now, they wring political rinos so that we, American public, are with a feeling there is no political party to work for us.
I suggest for conservative patriots, to learn how the political struggle is waged. You can do it by studying from the source – lenin, hitler, alinsky and others. Don’t be shy – the future of America and many people in the world are at stake.

I don´t think Mr. Barnes missed the mark so much as he´s still playing by the "old rules" of gentility. We´re fighting with different "rules of engagement" now. The gloves are off as far as the dems are concerned and we need to street fight when necessary, take the higher road when we need to embarass them, and know the difference. The "old" genteel days are over I´m afraid and the new boys in town, i.e., Cruz etc., understand this. Which is why we need to get behind them with all we´ve got!!!

Protection from hitler style tyranny; who can be against that? Now let´s examine if there are any targets for that tyranny, and how they can be neutralized.
Remember the ad campaign: "Orange juice: it´s not just for breakfast anymore!"
How about: "Guns, they´re not just for hunting anymore!"

Fight for freedom from tyranny, both foreign and domestic. Don´t be like the jews in the ghetto, when the national, social, Democrats (american nazis) come to take you away after they register and confiscate your protection. Don´t be weak.

#30

We´ve been sliced and diced into special interest groups while the rats have been extremely focused - they´ve been plotting this since at least the 1960s. They took over education, put almost half of the country on welfare and told them they´re entitled. They´ve tried to make the rest of us feel guilty for any self-interest - like not wanting illegals overrunning our country while they suck up our hard earned taxpayer money.

Too many people stayed home last election because Romney wasn´t pure enough. Of course the rats saw this as a delicious victory - their complete disaster as POTUS got a second term. Too bad we´re all having to pay the price.

#30 and #32...Don´t EVER forget the last FRAUDULENT Presidential election!!!

Blacks, illegals, homosexuals, brainwashed college students, unhappy liberal female zombies, and mentally-challenged liberal robots all were not enough for the Democrat thug union party! No, they had to CHEAT at every polling place that they could, voting 4,5,6 times and it has been proven in our court system! Fraud! Cheats! Liars! Thieves! How else do you think they won? It wasnt because enough of us didnt vote against Hussein the Supreme Leader, dont believe that hype..ROMNEY WON! Someday a Woodward-type will write a book about it exposing the corruption in the Libtard party election stations last November 2012...count on it!

#30, you really nailed that phony "celebretard" punk! I can add nothing to your list..Good Job! No state really surprised me, although I had been unsure about FL and VA. The biggest surprise to me in this election was that Romney got only 52 % in Fort Bend County TX. I was not surprised when Obama won Dallas County handily and just barely got a plurality in Harris County.

Fred Barnes is avoiding what needs to be said: Obama´s presidency is the worst promoter of racial prejudice that has been seen in decades. He is simply lazy and that feeds the racial stereotype of The Lazy Negro. From appointing czars to do his work, to giving Obamacare to Pelosi and Reed to write, to dawdling at emergency foreign policy decisions - to spending days, weeks, and millions on golf outings, vacations, and celebrity appearances - the man proves not that his influence is waning - but rather that he has no ambition other than to promote himself and his family. He is lazy, unintelligent, and deceitful. Does that make me a racist to say that? Of course not, but those who would accuse me of such, know deep down inside how this man upon whom they had pinned their hopes and pride, is so h-bent on accumulating his swag, that he is dragging them down like an anchor beneath a leaky ship.

AUSTIN, Texas—As it makes a bid for relevance in the Lone Star State, the Texas Democratic Party is contending with a "Kinky" problem. The state party had lined up a preferred slate of candidates under gubernatorial nominee Wendy Davis for this fall, as it seeks to win a statewide office for the first time since 1994. But Richard "Kinky" Friedman, a cigar-chomping, cowboy-hat-wearing humorist, crashed the party. He knocked out the establishment Democrats´ favored candidate, Hugh Asa Fitzsimons III, in this month´s primary for agriculture commissioner, a powerful position that oversees an agency with 700 employees and a $550 million annual

Union representatives from the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) are now accompanying federal government safety inspectors on site visits to review labor complaints at nonunion private businesses, The Daily Caller has learned. SEIU and other labor unions can accompany the government inspectors on site visits due to a quiet and contested Obama administration rule clarification issued last year in response to a request from a union representative. SEIU agents recently accompanied an inspector from the federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), a division of the Department of Labor, on three visits to nonunion work sites under contract with the Houston-based janitorial

They could make a movie out of Moochelle Obama’s trip to China, except they already have: “The Ugly American.” It was bad enough when the first lady and her posse of 70 or so coat-holders took off on yet another globe-trotting adventure, but then she said it was “rare” that she got out of the United States. And now they’re holed up in an $8,350-a-night “presidential suite” at the Westin Hotel in Beijing. Aren’t presidential suites supposed to be reserved for, oh I don’t know, presidents? Now we learn that the grandmother, Marian Robinson, “is barking at the staff.” Barking? Surely Comrade Chris Matthews

Some lies just won’t go away. In February the Washington Post published an article with the following headline: “Why There’s No Democratic Version of the Koch Brothers’ Organization.” It was the umpteenth attempt to explain, in a particularly simplistic manner, how the millionaires and billionaires who donate money to the Democratic Party are nothing, absolutely nothing, like those meanie cancer research philanthropists Charles and David Koch. The author, Reid Wilson, interviewed “Democratic strategists who deal frequently with high-dollar donors,” and these Democratic strategists told him, strategically, that their high-dollar donors are better than Republican ones. “For the Koch brothers, electing the

As the prognosticators have adjusted their horoscopes and hesitantly determined that the Republicans may well have a fruitful November, President Obama has sought refuge in a fantasy. “In midterms,” Obama complained to donors last night, “we get clobbered, either because we don’t think it’s important or because we get so discouraged about what’s happening in Washington that we think it’s not worth our while.” Noting obsequiously how grateful he was for their money and support, the president went on to hit a bittersweet note. “We’re going to have to get over that,” he insisted. “This is a top priority.” Comforting as

The two U.S. embassies in Pakistan don’t have the resources they need to survive emergency situations, a new report found, putting lives at risk 18 months after the deadly attack on the U.S. Embassy in Benghazi, Libya. While the Embassy in Islamabad and Consulates General Karachi, Lahore, and Peshawar had adequate emergency action plans — and had sufficient planning, training, and drills for emergency preparedness — there was still concern over a lack of resources, said the State Department’s Inspector General report. The watchdog recommended that these embassy sites obtain the necessary resources and continue to practice emergency drills. The watchdog also

Fred Phelps, the “God Hates Fags” chronic cleric protester from so-called Westboro Church, who died yesterday, proved America’s endless capacity to hype charlatans and kooks. He became a national personality because he persuaded his family cult of several dozen children, grandchildren and in-laws to follow his absurd crusade. Many of the Phelps progeny are lawyers, so they sustained their sect by litigation, often against their adversaries, while spending reputedly hundreds of thousands of dollars annually to demonstrate around the country. Their signage was printed at their own print shop. Phelps was himself a disbarred lawyer who in his early years apparently litigated

A parking ticket, traffic citation or involvement in a minor fender-bender are enough to get a person´s name and other personal information logged into a massive, obscure federal database run by the U.S. military. The Law Enforcement Information Exchange, or LinX, has already amassed 506.3 million law enforcement records ranging from criminal histories and arrest reports to field information cards filled out by cops on the beat even when no crime has occurred. LinX is a national information-sharing hub for federal, state and local law enforcement agencies. It is run by the Naval Criminal Investigative Service, raising concerns among some

This week brought yet another tussle in the altogether imaginary public battle over Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s future at the Supreme Court, this time in the form of a column in the Los Angeles Times by Erwin Chemerinsky, dean of the UC–Irvine law school, and someone whose opinions I always take extremely seriously. Chemerinsky argues, as many have argued before him, that Ginsburg—who turned 81 on Saturday, has survived one type of cancer and one cancer scare, and has broken her ribs twice in the past two years—should retire this summer in order to ensure that “a Democratic president will be

Jimmy Carter has been very active in the decades since his presidency, and his successors have occasionally called for his advice. Except, it turns out, the current occupant of the office. A clip from Carter’s upcoming Meet the Press interview reveals that President Obama is the first president since Carter left office not to solicit the Southern Democrat’s advice. Carter explained, “President Clinton did and President George W. Bush and H.W. Bush and even Ronald Reagan used to call on us to go into sensitive areas.” They all asked Carter to deal with “unsavory characters,” but Obama hasn’t reached out to

Is Barack Obama simply too busy to be Chief Executive of the United States? Apparently. One of the primary functions of the president is to keep the nation safe, to preserve it from its enemies. To do that effectively, one would actually have to maintain something of a consistent level of attention to the moving pieces that directly influence how future events will unfold. None other than the truly sycophantic thinks for a second that President Obama cares a whit for anything that does not involve fundamentally altering the social composition of this country. Or golf. A Washington Post story purporting to expose the Koch brothers as behind-the-scenes beneficiaries of the Keystone Pipeline has been exposed as an utterly false propaganda operation, hilariously wrong and politically malicious. Even worse, one of the writers behind the story is married to a political operative in the left wing Koch-demonization machine. The Washington Post was recently purchased by Jeff Bezos of Amazon, who ought to take a hard look at the reporters and editors who collaborated with the left wing smear machine, and while he is at it, should send a note of thanks to John Hinderaker, the blogger

In a speech Friday, Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush praised illegal immigrants as "risk takers" who embody the entrepreneurial spirit of America and doubled down on his defense of Common Core. According to the Miami-Herald, Bush made his remarks in front of business leaders in Florida. “People who come here legally and illegally are the risk takers,” Bush reportedly said. “If you’re living in a rural area of Guatemala and you come, you’re a bigger risk taker than those who stay,” he added. Of course, the first action of those who come to the country illegally is breaking the law. Bush also said he

Here’s a question I’ll bet nobody ever asked Jay Carney at a White House press briefing: Why does Michelle Obama’s mother live at the White House at taxpayer expense? (If someone has asked, please send link for me to stand corrected.) Now that Michelle Obama’s mother has caused a disruption on the latest exotic vacation for the first lady, perhaps it is time for some answers about why Marian Robinson is even on the trip to China. Worse, why is she appearing in official photographs with Chinese officials? Drudge is reporting in big bold lead letters that Marian Robinson is barking

Black students are more likely to be suspended from U.S. public schools — even as tiny preschoolers. The racial disparities in American education, from access to high-level classes and experienced teachers to discipline, were highlighted in a report released Friday by the Education Department´s civil rights arm. The suspensions — and disparities — begin at the earliest grades. Black children represent about 18 percent of children in preschool programs in schools, but they make up almost half of the preschoolers who are suspended more than once, the report said. Six percent of the nation´s districts with preschools reported suspending at

During her visit to China, first lady Michelle Obama pointed out that the ability to travel outside of the United States was "rare" but that she chose China for a reason. "It’s very rare that I have the opportunity to travel outside of the United States, and it’s even more rare to have the opportunity to travel with three generations — with my daughters, and with my mother," she said. "And it is no accident that one of our first trips as a family is here to China." Obama made her remarks while visiting a school in Beijing, with the Chinese first

Today’s Washington Post features an article by Steven Mufson and Juliet Eilperin headlined, “The biggest lease holder in Canada’s oil sands isn’t Exxon Mobil or Chevron. It’s the Koch brothers.” The article was based on a newly-issued two-page report by the far-left International Forum on Globalization. The Post reported: You might expect the biggest lease owner in Canada’s oil sands, or tar sands, to be one of the international oil giants, like Exxon Mobil or Royal Dutch Shell. But that isn’t the case. The biggest lease holder in the northern Alberta oil sands is a subsidiary of Koch Industries, the privately-owned

President Obama took the opportunity to flatter House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi during a fundraiser Thursday for House Democrats at the Florida home of former NBA star Alonzo Mourning. Obama said the California Democrat "will go down in history as one of the greatest speakers in our history" and indicated that he was eager to return her to her former position as Speaker of the House. "She is as tough and principled and as visionary as any member of Congress that we´ve ever seen and I´m grateful to call her a friend," he added. The fundraiser — the first of six Obama has

W hen news broke that respected fashion designer L´Wren Scott had passed away on Monday, The New York Times noted her suicide with the regrettable headline "Mick Jagger´s Girlfriend Found Dead." Let me go out on a limb: The Malaysian airliner did not get sucked into a black hole, vanish over the Indian Ocean equivalent of the Bermuda Triangle or crash-land on the spooky island from “Lost.” Those “theories” were actually discussed on CNN this week. Host Don Lemon dismissed them as “preposterous” before asking one of his assembled “expert” guests — there were six of them waiting expectantly in their boxes on the screen — whether, you know, such ideas really were so preposterous. At which point the nonstop coverage of this tragedy entered the Twilight Zone. The disappearance of Malaysia Airlines
