McCain: ´I don´t understand´
GOP filibuster on guns

Politico, by Jennifer Epstein

Original Article

Posted By:JoniTx, 4/7/2013 12:18:14 PM

Sen. John McCain says he doesn´t understand the threats from some of his Republican colleagues to filibuster a bill on background checks to buy guns. "I don´t understand it," the Arizona Republican said on Sunday of the threat coming from Sen. Rand Paul,Sen. Ted Cruz, Sen. Mike Lee and nine other Republicans. "The purpose of the United States Senate is to debate and to vote and to let the people know where we stand.” "What are we afraid of? ... If this issue is as important as we all think it is, why not take ... it up and debate?"

We DO NOT debate and vote on constitutional rights. We exercise and protect them.
Alzheimer´s is a terrible disease. We feel bad for the sufferers, but we shouldn´t elect them as senators.

Heeeere´s Johnny - again - making a fool of himself on TV.

It´s time for the Republican National Committee to take him aside and tell him to shut his pie-hole once and for all. In fact, that´s what I told the RNC when they called me last week at home, asking for money. McCain wouldn´t make a pimple on a good Republican´s butt. If they want to have a prayer in 2014, McCain needs to be exiled somewhere that he can´t be interviewed. That, or just tell him that for every word he utters on national TV, the RNC will deduct $100,000 from his re-election money.

McCain should resign, as he does not understand the United States Constitution.
Since he took an oath to preserve and protect it, yet doesn´t understand it, he is unfit to serve.
PS the purpose of the Senate is to SERVE the People.

There are a few Dem senators who really really don´t want to vote on anything gun related. Even if some Rhinos give them room to vote against the 2nd ammendment, their votes will look purely political. These are the same senators who have never been held accountable at the ballot box for their Obamacare votes.

Silly me! I thought the purpose of the Senate, among other things, is to uphold the Constitution and act as "checks and balances/advise and consent" for the Executive Branch.

Lets debate doing background checks on everyone. And lets make this available any time someone will assume some liability for your future actions. Any time you go to an employment interview, every arrest, every illness, every report of strange behavior, every complaint about an insult you made will be accessible. Is that what you are proposing John? We already do background checks for gun purchases but never follow up on the 20% that fail to meet requirements. Lets not propose any new laws until we implement the ones we have. And lets not do anything to infringe on a Constitutional right.

John,
Quit accepting the crumbs the liberal Senators and Abomination is offering, and realize there are conservative Dem senators who might actually form a coalition with the Republicans on many issues.

Or, you´ll at least expose them for being forced to accept the liberal agenda which won´t go over too well in Montana, ND, WV and other red states.

Constitutional RIGHTS are to be protected and defended not debated.

Senator Moron has done more to destroy the GOP than Evil Wacky Baracky could ever do.

Sen. Moron is "The Enemy Within" in his waning doddering old fool years.

Sarah Palin needs to make her presence in Arizona a permanent residency move...
she´s more legal than all of Moron´s illegal buddies he loves to host there...

And then Sarah Palin needs to do ALL of us in the nation the hugest favor and payback
of all time, by defeating this Moron in the next GOP Senate primary that he faces...
if he´s too senile to figure out he should retire quickly on his own.

Sarah Palin for Arizona GOP Senator to replace The Aging Senator Moron.
Please, it cannot happen soon enough!!

Sen. McCain: A filibuster doesn´t stop the Senate from debating, just from voting. You can stand up and speak for as long as you want - indeed, in a filibuster, the longer everyone talks, the better. You can also yield to any Democrat for a question and let, indeed encourage, him to speak as long as he wants before reclaiming your time.

AUGUSTA, Ga.— Bubba Watson has won the Masters for the second time in three years. Watson claimed another green jacket by shooting a 3-under 69 in the final round Sunday, fending off Jordan Spieth’s bid to become the youngest major champion since 1931. The 20-year-old Texan led by two shots heading to the eighth hole, but the tournament changed suddenly. Watson made two straight birdies, Spieth took back-to-back bogeys — and just like that, Watson was up by two strokes at the turn. The left-hander led the rest of the way, adding to the 2012 title he won in more

The military is taking steps to prepare women for combat roles in 2016. The Marine Corps announced that it would give young female lieutenants who wash out of the grueling Infantry Officer Course a second shot, same as their male counterparts. The Army is conducting a study to test just how fit a soldier has to be to engage in combat. The study involves 60 women and 100 men. CBS News reported on both developments last week. The Marine Corps announcement came after Marine 2nd Lt. Sage Santangelo took the Infantry Officer Court and wrote about her experience last month

A man suspected of shooting dead at least three people at two separate Jewish centers in Kansas City on the eve of Passover screamed out ´Heil Hilter´ as he was arrested this afternoon. Overland Park city spokesman Sean Reilly says two people died at the Jewish Community Center of Greater Kansas City campus and one was killed at Village Shalom, which is a retirement community that is several blocks away from the center. A 14-year-old boy is in critical condition. Officials said Sunday afternoon that police arrested the suspected shooter, a man in his 70s, outside Valley Park Elementary nearby

Newly-retired Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius misspelled the name of her successor, Sylvia Burwell, in her final goodbye email to her HHS coworkers, reports Politico. A Friday evening email titled "Thank you" read as follows: "As you´ve no doubt heard by now, in the coming months I will be passing the baton to my friend and colleague, Sylvia Burrell [sic]...I´ve worked closely with Sylvia in her role as director of OMB. She is a skilled, strategic leader who I know will continue to improve health services for all Americans. I will continue the important work we have to

It’s DUMBO — really DUMBO! Crafty hobos are turning the Manhattan Bridge into a veritable shantytown, complete with elaborate plywood shacks that are truly “must see to believe.” One of the coffin-sized living spaces — which have been built into the bridge frame near the Manhattan entrance — is secured with a flimsy bike lock and bolted to a metal beam by its inhabitant. The pods are built into the underside of the upper deck, below car traffic but above the subway and bike lanes. To reach his makeshift studio, the bridge dweller — a stocky, neatly dressed Chinese man

Moving Day at The Masters included 20-year-old golfer Jordan Spieth rising up the leaderboard to finish in 1st place alongside Bubba Watson. Saturday was an excellent opportunity for apparel manufacturer Under Armour to take center stage, with logos positioned all over Spieth’s sprawling body. The brand’s opportunity to be featured on air will only be enhanced in the Final Round with Spieth attempting to become the youngest player to win The Masters, besting a 21-year-old Tiger Woods who first won the tournament in 1997. Speaking of Tiger, he is noticeably absent from this year’s Masters Tournament. Rory McIlroy

Veteran investigative reporter Sharyl Attkisson resigned from CBS News after 20 years with the network, expressing frustration at being unable to get her stories on air. Following Attkisson’s resignation, the folks at Fox News’ “Media Buzz” expressed dissatisfaction at the state of journalism in America’s newsrooms and the culture of liberal bias that exists. Appearing on the program on Sunday March 16th, the entire panel acknowledged the disturbing trend of journalists putting their politics above journalism with host Howard Kurtz observing that Attkisson felt it “was almost impossible to get these tougher pieces on the air.” As the segment began,

Today, the image would have gone viral in an instant: The president of the United States, dripping wet in swim trunks before a throng of excited beachgoers, trading a look and a laugh with an attractive woman in a polka-dot bikini. But well before the Internet´s relentless rationing of spontaneous fame, the 1962 photo of President Kennedy at Santa Monica´s beach made quite a splash. For a Los Angeles woman named Eva Ban, its effect lasted a lifetime. Ban was the woman in the two-piece swimsuit, which was called a bikini in news accounts but was modest by today´s standards.

The Washington Free Beacon has compiled the video below of Harry Reid chanting “Koch brothers” 134 times on the Senate floor. It has a formulaic quality, like the phrases Homer hold in reserve to fill out dactylic hexameter lines in the Iliad and the Odyssey. What “wine-dark sea” was to Homer, “Koch brothers” is to Harry Reid. (Video) Reid, however, isn’t in search of a metrical line to fill out a great poem. He is simply executing the latest Democratic campaign to stigmatize private citizens in the service of his partisan political purposes. When Reid took to the floor of

A group of Asian Americans is starting a grassroots effort to garner support for the Republican Party and its candidates, saying the GOP most closely aligns with their core values including family, education and entrepreneurship. The group, the Asian Republican Coalition, is co-founded by international investment banker John Ying, who during the 2012 presidential election cycle served on the Republican National Finance Committee. “We need a forum, and this first step will go a long way,” Ying told FoxNews.com earlier this week. Who throws a shoe? Honestly! That would be 36-year-old Alison Ernst of Phoenix, Arizona, who was charged Thursday night with disorderly conduct by the Las Vegas Police Department after allegedly throwing a shoe at former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. According to NBC News, who spoke with a Secret Service official, the U.S. Attorney’s office has declined federal prosecution. Ernst was wearing shoes on Thursday night when she attended a speech Clinton was giving in Las Vegas, but apparently brought an extra one specifically to throw at the former secretary of state. The official said the incident appeared to be “premeditated.”

Many Americans have been watching with great consternation the ongoing struggle between the Federal Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and the U.S. Marshals against Cliven Bundy and his family. There are no signs of either side relinquishing their position. Many onlookers have been informed that this dispute is over protecting the desert tortoise. But it is nothing of the sort. In fact, the reality of the dispute goes far underneath what is being talked about. The more appropriate source of the dispute is ground water as well as surface water -- this is a war over water. A Nevada cattle rancher appears to have won his week-long battle with the federal government over a controversial cattle roundup that had led to the arrest of several protesters. Cliven Bundy went head to head with the Bureau of Land Management over the removal of hundreds of his cattle from federal land, where the government said they were grazing illegally. Bundy claims his herd of roughly 900 cattle have grazed on the land along the riverbed near Bunkerville, 80 miles northeast of Las Vegas, since 1870 and threatened a "range war" against the BLM on the Bundy Ranch website after one of

Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-CA) is now accusing the Keystone pipeline of being a cancer risk. Her first point was that the pipeline “will bring 830,000 barrels of dirty tar sands oil into our nation every day.” She then segued to point #2 by asserting that the heavy tar sands oil will put people who live near refineries at risk for cancer: Significantly higher levels of dangerous air pollutants and carcinogens have been documented downwind from tar sands refineries, and in these areas people are suffering higher rates of the types of cancers linked to these toxic chemicals, including leukemia and

Let me obliterate a bit of confusion here: the Obama administration attempted to go to war with a rancher in Nevada. Let me amplify a little bit of truth: They tucked tail and have returned home. And let me add a bit of clarity: they had no choice! As the nation began to become familiar with the plight of the family of Cliven Bundy, many of us harkened back to another standoff in which the Federal government attempted to bully it´s outcome: Waco, Texas and the Branch Davidian massacre. It is telling that in the Nevada case the feds pulled out so

They’re both qualified, respectful of each other (shocker!), and represent the vast majority of middle America. So what’s not to like about another Clinton/Bush race for 2016? When you mention the prospect of Clinton vs. Bush 2016 a funny thing happens. First, there is the reflexive response: "Oh no, not again. We don´t need more dynastic politics in this country." But upon further reflection, you realize Jeb Bush vs. Hillary Clinton would be a great race and actually good for the country. Let´s review. QUALIFICATIONS—THEY’VE BOTH GOT THEM. Barack Obama won the presidency because in an election where the premium was on change, it mattered little

A rapid shift to wind and solar power is needed if the world is to avoid catastrophic global warming, the United Nations warns in a crucial report today. Emissions of greenhouse gases need to be cut by up to 70 per cent before 2050 to control climate change, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) says. ‘Large-scale changes in energy systems’ are required, with coal power stations to be switched off and replaced by wind and solar. And the transformation needs to be made in the next 15 years or controlling climate change will become increasingly harder and more expensive. The report was published

LAS VEGAS — The Nevada Republican Party stripped opposition to abortion and gay marriage from its platform Saturday as state convention delegates instead focused on judging fellow Republicans on their worthiness to serve in office and adherence to GOP values. The platform, with few changes, was adopted overwhelmingly as the Las Vegas convention stretched late into the evening. The vote mirrors that of the Clark County GOP, which voted earlier to remove platform language defining marriage as between a man and a woman and statements opposing abortion. Many Republicans are re-evaluating their strong stances on conservative social issues as public

It’s hardly been a secret that in recent years the moderate center of the Democrat party has been driven away and what remains is a conglomeration of disparate blocs which, to date, the party has been able to treat as if there were no conflicting interests between them. As the midterm elections approach and the administration’s incompetence, along with the distaste for the president’s signature ObamaCare legislation, drive the party’s chances down further, the make-believe coalition of opposites may well crumble if the opposition doesn’t blow it. Democrats hope to retain control of the Senate and recapture the House by driving
