Egyptian laws, arrests worry
liberals and the West

CAIRO - The Arab Spring was supposed to bring freedom to Egypt. Instead, concern is growing inside and outside the country that an illiberal wind is blowing the transition from autocracy off course. Arrest warrants issued by the prosecutor general against activists and a comedian accused of insulting President Mohamed Mursi have hardened opposition fears of a crackdown on dissent by the Muslim Brotherhood-led authorities. In parliament, Islamist lawmakers are debating draft laws seen by liberals as a threat to civil society and the right to demonstrate - vital elements of a modern democracy.

Have Obama address the crowd again. That should get another CBS female raped by the mob. There never was an Arab Spring. It was Secretary Cancles´ imagination. These Islamic clowns will be starving soon, and I don´t care.

Less than amusing - more than predictable. There is *no* venue where Obama has ´meddled´ overseas that hasn´t wound up augmenting takeovers by Islamic radicals.

Any alleged ´Christian´ who has sat in the pews of hate-spewing ´ministers´ as Obama has - is pretty well a farce, or as with most things ´Obama´ - a fabrication.

There is *no* aspect of his presidency that doesn´t defer to Islam.

Obama enabled this Arab Spring by demanding that a longstanding ally of the US, Hosni Mubarak, be deposed. He was predictably replaced by the Muslim Brotherhood, (of which the Secretary of State’s top aide was a high level member.) Now with MB firmly in power, Obama is arming them and putting in billions of dollars of direct and indirect aid. In addition, he is doing exactly the same thing in Syria, trafficking weapons from Libya into Syria via Turkey. And let us not forget that right here at home he has trafficked arms to the Mexican drug cartels.

It used to be that when you elected Democrats you just got bad government. Now you get much worse.

Nothing, not even utter failure, will move liberal ideologues from their destructive positions. Like Obama, it´s always someone else who is to blame.

Hard to think of anything quite as stupid as the fantasy of the "Arab Spring" bringing a wave of new freedom to the region. Another example of leftists preferring their pathetic, childish whims to the reality slapping them in the face.

Newtown killer Adam Lanza may have launched his murder spree at Sandy Hook Elementary School as an “act of revenge,” the Daily News has learned. A close friend of Lanza’s mother told The News that the troubled boy was a target of relentless bullying when he attended the Connecticut school years ago. “I think Adam felt betrayed by the school and this was his act of revenge,” said Marvin LaFontaine, a friend of Nancy Lanza’s. “Nancy told me he was being picked on at school. That they were just torturing him.”

My younger son goes to Temple, where he’s a sophomore. This year he’s living in an apartment with two friends at 19th and Diamond, just a few blocks from campus. It’s a dangerous neighborhood. Whenever I go see Nick, I get antsy and wonder what I was thinking, allowing him to rent there. One day, before I pick him up for lunch, I stop to talk to a cop who’s parked a block away from Nick’s apartment.“Is he already enrolled for classes?” the cop says when I point out where my son lives.

Egypt´s main hardline Islamist party says an IMF loan agreement requires the approval of a body of Muslim scholars under the new constitution and it is considering legal action to make sure the government sticks to the law. The case could set a marker on the extent to which clerics will have a say over state affairs according to the Islamist-tinged constitution that was signed into law in December following its approval in a referendum. The Salafist Nour Party says the loan agreement, seen as vital to easing a deep economic crisis, must be approved by a body

House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman Darrell Issa, R-Calif., has accused the panel´s top Democrat of prompting the Internal Revenue Service in 2012 to target a conservative organization applying for nonprofit status. Issa said records obtained last week from the IRS show communications from the office of ranking member Rep. Attorney General Eric Holder strayed from prepared remarks to slam the way he was “treated” by a House committee the day before, calling it evidence of “ugly and divisive” civil rights challenges facing him and President Barack Obama. Speaking to the Rev. Al Sharpton’s National Action Network at its annual convention in New York on Wednesday, Holder talked about the state of civil rights today and brought up a House committee hearing Tuesday that grew contentious, according to video from Mediaite and reports from outlets including Capital New York. “The last five years have been defined by significant strides and

Barack Obama got quite the handful on Thursday, April 10, but it was all for a good cause! As the President of the United States was boarding Air Force One with his wife Michelle Obama, a gust of wind blew up her skirt. Earlier in the week, another famous lady on the global stage suffered a similar snafu, but no one was around to help her -- not even her prince!

The son of the Nevada rancher locked in an increasingly tense land dispute with the federal government, says their cowboys managed to break a blockade and retrieve around 30 head of cattle. Federal agents swooped on Tuesday after Cliven Bundy, dubbed the last remaining rancher in southern Nevada, refused to remove his herd of 900 cows from land he claims has been in his family since 1870. The heavily-armed federal agents, equipped with eight helicopters and backed-up by snipers, surrounded the Bundy ranch after the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) attained a federal court order to confiscate the family´s herd. A new review is questioning the effectiveness of two key drugs enlisted in the fight against influenza and in turn the investments by governments to stockpile the drugs in the event of a global flu outbreak. The antiviral drugs Tamiflu (oseltamivir) and Relenza (zanamivir ) are commonly used to treat influenza in healthy adults and children. In the case of Tamiflu, the drug does shorten symptoms of influenza by about half a day - as the manufacturer suggests - but there is insufficient evidence to support claims that it reduces hospital admissions or serious complications, such as confirmed pneumonia or

Solar power has won the global argument. Photovoltaic energy is already so cheap that it competes with oil, diesel and liquefied natural gas in much of Asia without subsidies. Roughly 29pc of electricity capacity added in America last year came from solar, rising to 100pc even in Massachusetts and Vermont.[Snip] The technology is improving so fast--helped by the US military--that it has achieved a virtous circle. Michael Parker and Flora Chang, at Sanford Bernstein, say we entering a new order of "global energy deflation" that must ineluctably erode the viability of oil, gas and the fossil fuel nexus over time.
