First key fight in immigration battle
is what to name the reform bill

The Hill [Washington, DC], by Molly K. Hooper

One of the first political issues negotiators must tackle in crafting an immigration reform bill is among the most important: what to name it. It’s a decision that will bruise egos, create legacies and deeply affect subsequent messaging battles. “Every time the bill is mentioned in the press, you either have a brand that´s positive or a brand that doesn´t mean anything or even hurts you,” said Frank Sharry, the executive director of the pro-immigration reform group America’s Voice. The wrong name, he warned, could doom a good bill. “If there´s not a

Comments:
Of course you must have your priorities. s/o With the egomaniacs Schumer, McPain, Durbin and Graham involved it will be a battle as to who will get the honor of using their names. No matter what you call it, it will be an unmitigated disaster for this country.

Call this one the AmeriMexican Great Adventure. Pretend that it´s all those millions of Chinese who are the focus.

Since there is no doubt that Obama will be taking credit for whatever survives Congress, it should be named something like the Obama Welcome to America New Democrat Voter Act.

No doubt any Republicans who vote for such an amnesty are going to be very sorry they did in the end.

President Barack Obama sat down with Fox News anchor Bill O’Reilly for a pre-Super Bowl interview, a reprise of the Q&A the two did before the 2011 game, and Obama’s sixth straight pre-Super Bowl interview. O’Reilly grilled Obama on why Kathleen Sebelius had not been fired, noting that he as a taxpayer was paying her salary, and also asked if Obama thought the “If you like your plan you can keep your plan” claim was his “biggest mistake?” Obama responded to both queries by arguing that the implementation of the Affordable Care Act was an ongoing process, and he was committed to

John Koskinen, the new IRS commissioner, is on the hot seat and would do well to follow the example of Johnnie Mac Walters, who held the same post when President Nixon occupied the Oval Office. After Nixon aide John Dean handed Walters an envelope with a list of some 200 individuals the president considered political enemies, Walters refused to go along with the request for audits. He locked the list in his safe without ever opening the envelope. He subsequently gave the envelope to the congressional Joint Committee on Taxation. Considering Nixon´s paranoid penchant for revenge, Walters´ decision to defy

Saudi Arabian diplomats and military officials refused to meet with a bipartisan delegation of senior congressional staffers who visited the Middle Eastern country last week, an unusual snub that suggests increased tension between the U.S. and a key ally. "Everyone on the trip definitely took it as a snub," one of the staffers who went on the trip, speaking on condition of anonymity, told the Washington Examiner. The delegation was comprised of "high level" staff from three House committees: Intelligence, Homeland Security, and Armed Services. The staffer said that the delegation asked to meet with representatives of Saudi Arabia´s Foreign Affairs Ministry

Environmentalists and other opponents of the Keystone XL Pipeline are ramping up their opposition to the project following the release Friday of a largely favorable State Department report -- vowing to hold vigils, jump into the November elections and even perform acts of civil disobedience. The report raising no major environmental concerns bolster the hopes of the oil industry, some union groups, congressional Republicans and others that President Obama will soon approve the $7 billion project, after a roughly five year wait. They say the Canada-to-Texas pipeline will create tens of thousands of jobs and make the United States less dependent on

Up to 306,000 Anthem Blue Cross customers with insurance policies purchased before Obamacare was enacted will have rate hikes as high as 25%. Additionally, some premiums have already jumped 53% since 2010, not including this latest change. Last year, when Americans were barraged with healthcare insurance cancellations, state officials warned that holding onto grandfathered policies wouldn´t shield them from significant rate hikes. Unless Anthem can be swayed by California regulators to back down, the increased rates will go into effect on April 1.
