Rep. Peter King attacks Sen.
Marco Rubio for voting against
Sandy funding

Washington Times, by Seth McLaughlin

Original Article

Rep. Peter King of New York on Friday cast Sen. Marco Rubio as a hypocrite for voting against the the Hurricane Sandy relief package and expressed disbelief that the Florida senator would then turn around and try to raise campaign money in the region. Mr. King questioned how Mr. Rubio could vote against the $60 million in relief for New York and New Jersey when Florida has received loads of federal money for Hurricane victims. “Guys like Marco Rubio of Florida, with all the money that you people have gotten in Florida over the years, with every hurricane

Comments:
He doesn´t bother to criticize the filthy Democrats for all the ´pork´ and wasteful spending contained in that bill. All this sniping at each other is really unnecessary and certainly not helpful to the party. King has been doing a lot of that lately.

Boo-freaking hoo. Peter King is almost as insufferable as Chuck Schumer. Fine, argue for your constituents but to attack those who legitimately disagree is just stupid. King is no different than the rest of the whiny, rent-seeking NY delegation.

I think 1 and 2 are not familiar with Peter King and his record. He is a very good representative, conservative and fearless. This time he is on the wrong side. So hang him?

He does have a point, here in Florida we have allowed people who suffered no loss of property at all to get money through lies. It was a disgrace and never corrected. Now, King´s people need help and he is trying to get that help.

Lets see... who is more irresponsible? The one who calls 60 billion in aid 60 million? Or the one who studies the bill for a few days and to discover that billions are going to federal agencies (flood insurance) or to states not anywhere close to the hurricane? In my understanding of insurance, you studied the cost of a potential disaster and set your premiums so you had the money to cover. Why is the flood insurance program always needing a bail out? What happens to the premiums they collect? And if King can´t tell the difference between billions and millions, maybe we ought to pay him 180 dollars a year.

It´s that New York state of mind again. I´m sorry, but if there weren´t so many arrogant, A-hole, jerks up there, maybe the rest of the country would have more sympathy for you. When you refuse help from electrical crews from other parts of the country who have traveled many, many miles to volunteer to help you just because they aren´t your local union, what do you expect? Our local Red Cross volunteers went up as they always do for a disaster. They didn´t stay very long because of all the red tape and the verbal abuse they had to endure. You got the money didn´t you? You people need to get off your bums and start helping yourselves, a la Joplin, MO or Nashville, TN style.

Why am I not hearing anything from the media about any recovery going on up there? Is it over? Have people got houses to live in yet? Things must be OK.

What ethical person would vote for a "relief" bill that was laden non-relief items. What percent of the bill helped the people it was intended to and what percentage went elsewhere. D C politics is sickening to most Americans. Good for Rubio. Not ONE CENT of that bill should have been for anything but SANDY relief efforts.

This is an ugly thread. First, I generally like both King and Rubio. Second, I´m a Texan with no great affinity for New York other than the fact that some good Americans live there and even the bad ones are my countrymen. There was no doubt of the suffering in the NY-NJ area due to the hurricane.

King is a reliable conservative with a much longer track record than Rubio, particularly when it comes to being anti-politically correct on issues involving islamic jihadists and illegal aliens.

Yes, there was pork added to the bill; political opportunists of both parties always tack pork on to otherwise worthwhile spending measures. Please show me an emergency spending bill for Florida hurricane relief that was pristine or strictly without pork of one kind or the other. Go back 20 years if necessary. It is understandable that King is upset because he was seeking immediate relief for his constituents, not posturing for political gain or preparing a run for higher office. It is an unfortunate situation and no one comes off looking good.

First lady Michelle Obama unveiled a proposed new nutrition label Thursday, claiming the labels would make it easier for families to tell whether food is healthy. Because math is hard, or something. If your “nanny-state” radar is going off, it should. The new label really doesn’t appear to be much different from the old one. The “servings per container” font is larger and bolder, the “calories” section is much larger and bolder and the “percent daily value” column was moved to the left side (have to spend that tax money on something).
