Finally! School Choice
can show its stuff

American Thinker, by Thomas Lifson

The Great State of Indiana is about to test statewide school choice on a meaningful scale. This a major victory that has attracted little media attention at a time when the MSM narrative is focused on same sex marriage splitting the Republicans, and the inevitable tide of history sweeping away the evangelical wing of the GOP into the dustbin of history, or at least out of the its status as the party´s reliable base.

As an aspiring educator competition among the teaching staff and schools is right up my alley. I know for a fact that I will teach history as it happened and not add a political slant to actual events that occured and are documented. The best schools will attract the best teachers and they will be compensated for WHAT THEY PRODUCE, not just for being there. BRING IT ON!!!

Last week the U.S. Senate´s lone black member, Senator Tim Scott of South Carolina, was the object of yet another viscous attack centering on his skin color and political ideology. In a day and age where we see black Americans flourishing in all walks of life from the classroom to the board room, who or what could be the source of such consistent, vile, racially denigrating rhetoric? The Klu Klux Klan, Aryan Nation or some other white supremacy group? No. None of these. Rather, it was an organization which has as its mission statement, "to ensure the political, educational, social, and

How boringly familiar was the State of the Union address? Boring enough that Joe Biden, seated right behind Obama and on camera for the entire snooze fest, started mugging and interacting with members of Congress in the audience. It was quite a good commentary on the performance of the Commander in Chief who could not rise above the level of pabulum. Watch the video below and see for yourself.

I called a hardheaded realist, a Harvard trained PhD who has been watching the Middle East professionally for decades, to ask him about Obama´s Iran deal. This is what he told me. It´s done. Iran will get a bomb. They want a bomb and they will not be denied unless somebody stops them. Obama does not want to stop them. He does not want a friendly regime in Iran. He wants Iran as a counterforce to America and Israel. Obama is not a Muslim, but he is a radical. He sees the U.S. and Israel as imperialistic and oppressive. He doesn´t like

Has Marxist/Leninist pal of Bill Ayers Mike Klonsky just given us the reason for the arrest of conservative writer Dinesh D´Souza? Does he have inside information? On January 24, Klonsky dashed off a quick "note" to D´Souza on his Small Talk Blog: Note to Dinesh D´Souza -- You probably shouldn´t have Tweeted that racist remark about Obama and Trayvon Martin. S**t like that sometimes comes back to haunt you. (snip) Klonsky was awarded $175,000 by the Chicago Annenberg Challenge, chaired by Barack Obama. In 2001 he stated that he and Ayers were still gung-ho in their zeal to destroy capitalism, but they had

Many analysts of national news media have noted that there is a double standard with regard to how the media report the behavioral faux pas of Republican versus Democratic politicians. But there is a far more important difference between the two national parties and their moral postures. This difference is revealed when one compares the campaign rhetoric used by the DNC to the behavior of Democratic officials at the local, state, and national levels once they have achieved positions of power.

The American system of government has as it´s chief executive, a president who is carefully checked by a watchful Congress and a consientious judiciary. Except, when it isn´t. Case in point: Our president plans to rule us - not govern us - by using the vast powers of his office and absolute control of the federal bureaucracy to ram his vision of hope and change down our throats. Done without the approval of Congress and with little challenge from the judiciary. Can he get away with it? Watch him: The new plan "is to bring all of the government alive in a way we

A document coming from the administration has recently come to light that discloses the entire ObamaCare program is in jeopardy of collapse. Of course, the White House did not inform the American people of this prospect but was compelled to post the news on a federal website -- away from the inquiring minds of millions of Americans who may suffer even more from ObamaCare. So much for Barack Obama´s boast that his administration would be the most transparent in history. While the web portal of Healthcare.Gov has received a lot of attention, the true problem lies like an iceberg underneath the

The Democrats´ new much-vaunted master plan for annihilating the Tea Party movement calls for aggressive class warfare, demagoguery, and lying about the beliefs, motives, and goals of Tea Party supporters, Sen. Chuck Schumer revealed yesterday. Echoing President Obama´s infamous "bitter clingers" remarks, the New York Democrat argued that Tea Party supporters are cartoonish figures who are easily ridiculed. Invoking all the usual liberal cliches about conservatives, Schumer said the Tea Party is successor to "the Know-Nothings, Prohibitionists, Father Coughlin, and Huey Long." In other words, he believes the movement is a collection of hicks, yahoos, neo-Luddites, fascists, male chauvinists, and racists fearful

They would like to preserve the perception they´ve cultivated over the years of "right to lifers" as a bunch of crotchety, backwards, sexually uptight old folks. Images of the January 22, 2014 March for Life present a completely different picture, demolishing the pro-abortion media´s false narrative about who today´s pro-life activists really are. When we think of liberals we think of the Kos Kidz over at DailyKos and the execrable hosts on MSNBC. We think of the liberal journalists that sneer "who me?" to the charge of journalistic bias. But I was reminded this last week that many liberals are naifs and innocents. They don´t see feminists as the professional class making a virtue out of poor women raising their children; they think of career women and two-income families as a simple natural progress from darkness to

President Obama has been losing his TV audience — literally. With the State of the Union proving ever less entrancing for viewers, the White House is desperate to turn the speech into a multiday event in an effort to bolster interest in Mr. Obama’s policies, even if people don’t tune in to hear his words. With online question-and-answer sessions, a “virtual road trip” scheduled for Friday and a presidential video, the White House is determined to spread Mr. Obama’s message beyond Tuesday night’s hourlong address. “Literally, the conversation never ends,” said Lee Rainie, director of the Pew Research Center’s Internet

WASHINGTON — President Obama plans to sign an executive order requiring that janitors, construction workers and others working for federal contractors be paid at least $10.10 an hour, using his own power to enact a more limited version of a policy that he has yet to push through Congress. The order, which Mr. Obama will highlight in his annual State of the Union address on Tuesday night, is meant to underscore an increasing willingness by the president to bypass Congress if lawmakers continue to resist his agenda, aides said. After a year in which most of his legislative priorities went nowhere,

Of all the troubling aspects of the Obama presidency, none is more dangerous than the president´s persistent pattern of lawlessness, his willingness to disregard the written law and instead enforce his own policies via executive fiat. On Monday, Mr. Obama acted unilaterally to raise the minimum wage paid by federal contracts, the first of many executive actions the White House promised would be a theme of his State of the Union address Tuesday night. The president´s taste for unilateral action to circumvent Congress should concern every citizen, regardless of party or ideology. “Repealing and replacing” Obamacare with market-oriented reforms has been the Republican mantra for years now. If you’re a long-time follower of this space, you know that we’re skeptical that Obamacare will ever be repealed, GOP slogans to the contrary. Today, however, a trio of experienced Senate Republicans—Tom Coburn (Okla.), Richard Burr (N.C.), and Orrin Hatch (Utah)—have put forth the most thoughtful and constructive plan yet developed to repeal and replace Obamacare. The plan seeks to ensure that as many Americans have health coverage as Obamacare does. It’s a proposal grounded in the real-world tradeoffs that all serious reformers must make.

President Barack Obama delivered a State of the Union Address on Tuesday that was important less for what he said than for what it says about him. The speech was long, more than an hour. At times it was defiant, at others it felt almost conciliatory. But mostly the speech was forgettable, disposable – a long list of modest policy proposals that will not be remembered for much longer than their echo in the House chamber. On domestic policy, we knew what to expect. The stars of last year’s speech – immigration and gun control – were mere afterthoughts this year,

Former Vice President Al Gore raised eyebrows last week when he suggested that “fertility management” was the key to fighting global warming and promoting economic development in poor countries. Gore’s comments drew criticism from free-marketeers who said his remarks amount to “eco-imperialism.” “Gore’s agenda for saving the world from global warming has always included population control,” Myron Ebell, director of global warming and international environmental policy at the free-market Competitive Enterprise Institute, told The Daily Caller News Foundation. “Advocating population control specifically for Africa is just another form of imperialism. A year after saying it didn’t matter what sparked the vicious attack on the US diplomatic compound in Benghazi, Hillary Rodham Clinton is calling the incident the “biggest regret” of her stint as secretary of state.“My biggest, you know, regret is what happened in Benghazi,” Clinton told an auto dealers conference in New Orleans on Monday. Clinton didn’t acknowledge any particular blunder in the days or weeks leading up to the 2012 siege that resulted in the deaths of four Americans. Critics blame unmet security requests by the tragic US Ambassador to Libya Chris Stevens, who was killed in the attack. Clinton

School kids were allowed to stay home for a day or two because, according to administrators, the weather was too doggone cold. The deep freeze might have forced most of us into a shoulder-hunching slouch, but it prompted an Easter Parade-like promenade by a crew of familiar climate change skeptics

It started out like dozens of other interviews after Tuesday night’s State of the Union address. But when NY1 reporter Mike Scotto decided to press Rep. Deep within the Earth, a fierce molten core is generating a magnetic field capable of defending our planet against devastating solar winds. The protective field extends thousands of miles into space and its magnetism affects everything from global communication to animal migration and weather patterns. But this magnetic field, so important to life on Earth, has weakened by 15 per cent over the last 200 years. And this, scientists claim, could be a sign that the Earth’s poles are about to flip. Experts believe we´re currently overdue a flip, but they´re unsure when this could occur. If a switch happens, we would be exposed
