Dionne Warwick: dizzying
downfall of a bankrupt diva

The Telegraph (UK), by Jacqui Goddard

Original Article

Posted By:FlyRight, 3/31/2013 7:22:03 AM

Her name is among the brightest in recording industry history, her songs providing the soundtrack for a generation and earning her a place as one of the most successful hit-makers of all time. After more than five decades of music-making that won her five Grammy awards, more than 60 charted singles and global album sales totalling more than 100 million copies, Dionne Warwick might have been assumed to have earned herself a comfortable retirement.

I hope the IRS doesn´t buy her sob story. Look at her expenses; that´s not the lifestyle of someone who can´t pay their taxes. It´s the lifestyle of someone who doesn´t want to pay their taxes.

Dionne Warwick was an entertainer, no different from anyone else with a troubled life. That this story gets covered at all troubles me. Celebrities are just people with all the foibles and failings of everyone else, often more so because of their fame.

So how about we learn a little bit about what´s going on behind the scenes at ObamaCare rather than give valuable oxygen to such stories as this one?

We are capable of dealing with Dionne Warwick and Obamacare.
Someone considered reliable, many years ago, told me that Dionne hates white people. I have not felt the same about her since. From that time, I was unable to enjoy her music.

Ha! There is certainly room for a little trimming of expenses here, I would think!

Eliminating ´$5,000 for "housekeeping/sitting"´ would help tremendously. And ´$500 for the telephone´ is outrageous -- that should be pared down -- not to mention ´$750 for laundry and dry cleaning.´ Why is her electric bill $1,000? And why does she need a personal assistant, especially at $4,000?

I wish Dionne all the luck, and I mean no disrespect, but seriously, Dionne, GET REAL!

LA is a great big freeway.
Put a hundred down and buy a car.
In a week, maybe two, they´ll make you a star.
Weeks turn into years. How quick they pass,
And all the stars that never were
Are parking cars and pumping gas.
Fame and fortune is a magnet.
It can pull you far away from home.
With a dream in your heart you´re never alone.
Dreams turn into dust and blow away.
And there you are, without a friend.
You pack your car and ride away.

How profound, Dionne.

#8...I heard the same thing about Warwick.
I have no pity for her and I also agree with another poster that said her living expenses could be pared down. She pays twice as much in rent than what I live on a month or more. I also pay my taxes. I have no housekeeper and no assistants, all due a paycheck.

Maybe she can secure a gig at a White House party for Obama and Mooch. They don´t like white people either. Neither did the beloved Louie Armstrong, I read a long time ago.

Lets move on to another story that affects us all.

Happy Easter to all fellow posters. Rejoice, the Lord is risen.

Nothing "profound" about Miss Warwick(e).

Those lyrics ... and most of the rest that she sang .. were written by the recently-deceased Hal David - - a real mensch.

Miss Warwick(e)´s two real problems are an oversized ego and an unwarranted sense of entitlement - - two conditions which are as widespread as a plague among celebrity types.

Dionne´s voice was divine. One of the most beautiful voices I´ve ever heard. She´s from a generation of female singers that oozed talent. This is quite unlike today´s female celebrities-turned-actresses-turned-"singers" who rely on Auto Tune and gimmicks.

Dionne´s financial downfall is sad. I can only hope she makes it through.

Money — it’s the root of all evil. Behind every great fortune lies a great crime. Or at least an unfair advantage. That’s the gist of the liberals’ creed and justification for their war on wealth. The other half of their view holds that the poor are innocent victims of life’s rigged game.Their narrative of evil winners and noble losers clears the way for self-heroic redeemers. They will deliver social justice by meting out punishment and spreading the wealth around. Their virtue entitles them to power. It sounds like a comic-book view of life, but it’s the reality of liberalism today. And

FOR FIVE YEARS, President Obama has led a foreign policy based more on how he thinks the world should operate than on reality. It was a world in which “the tide of war is receding” and the United States could, without much risk, radically reduce the size of its armed forces. Other leaders, in this vision, would behave rationally and in the interest of their people and the world. Invasions, brute force, great-power games and shifting alliances — these were things of the past. Secretary of State John F. Kerry displayed this mindset on ABC’s “This Week” Sunday when he

President Obama´s proclaimed strategy to "bypass Congress" — most conspicuously his broad rewriting of the Affordable Care Act — has given unusual prominence to a fairly arcane legal doctrine: standing. Standing is what is preventing a potential blizzard of litigation against the president´s unilateral decrees, and ironically, it´s a doctrine liberal jurists have long decried. To challenge the government in federal court, it isn´t enough to simply believe that the government´s conduct is illegal or even unconstitutional. Federal courts can hear only specific disputes about the law as applied to particular people. To be heard in court, a person must have
