Defense Department says giving
Purple Heart to Fort Hood
survivors would hurt Hasan trial

Legislation that would award the injured from the 2009 Fort Hood shooting the Purple Heart would adversely affect the trial of Maj. Nidal Hasan by labeling the attack terrorism, according to a Defense Department document obtained by Fox News. The document comes following calls from survivors and their families for the military honor, because they say Fort Hood was turned into a battlefield when Hasan opened fire during the November 2009 attack. Fox News is told that the DOD “position paper” is being circulated specifically in response to the proposed legislation. The document reads in part:

More PC stupidity from the military. Sadly, it is par for the course.
Think of the most bonehead idea you can possibly imagine, and some deskbound officer has already issued it as an order.

"Cynical travesty" is the perfect description for this act and any consequences. "Workplace violence" has nothing to do with terrorism, whereas a Muslim in a US Army uniform mowing down troops on a military base and yelling "God is Great!" is an unarguable act of terrorism.

If you need a memory refresher, there´s a good summary and analysis of the attack at

This situation was really the first tip off of how ant-American and anti-military Obama is. Him going to the Interior Dept´s of Indian affairs and giving a shout out to a big shot Indian before even mentioning this shooting showed how unserious he was about the deaths of American troops. Of course there were no calls for gun control after this.

As commander in chief,it´s Obama´s primary job to stand behind the troops but if you look at this and he VA backlog, they show how Obama totally lacks respect for the military. It makes me sick when he uses these people as photo op props.

Why is he even being tried? He was caught in the act of killing our service men and women. He should have been taken to the nearest tree and hanged then and there, IMHO.
Do I care if Hasan receives a "fair trial"?

NO! Did he give the innocent people at Fort Hood a fair chance when he suddenly opened fire on them when they had no way to respond at that moment?

As I said, the nearest tree and a rope would have been justice.

This is a despicable delay of justice. Put this murderer on trial and execute him. Timothy was indicted 6 months after bombing and the trial began 2 yrs after. The citizens of this country should be outraged about this but the media is silent.

In every way, shape and form this administration fails to do the right thing. There is a reason for that. Its every action works to weaken this nation financially, militarily and spiritually in it relentless quest to "fundamentally transform" the United States into weak, malleable, divided nation of dumbed-down, unmotivated "victims" dependent upon the government while the robbing the productive half anyway they can. I´m getting a little astray of the subject, but rewarding true heros doing the right thing is certainly not on the Obamboozler´s agenda.

I see a change in the way folks look at these rebuffs. Have you noticed that more and more Americans are saying -- "well that´s the goooooberment for ya"....

By pushing the political correct position -- the gooooberment elite in DC, NY and California are turning off the people.

WE the people are getting wise to their antics and WE´re dismissing their input into our lives.. WE are surviving the obama/abomination/administration by simply ignoring their rants, i.e. ranting rahm -- mayor of Chicago. He thinks he´s winning -- but more and more citizens are putting their houses up for sale and then it´s bye/bye....hello Texas or Florida....

SNAFU! My father fought in the Pacific WWII. He said the politics of the military pushed them to the brink in the Solomon´s and the private sector enlistment died next to the career soldier but the private sector OCS saved their butts with organization skills and a limit on command structures. Today the difference is the non com´s like the JAG´s have swept the pension pushers´ General´s and Admirals aside.

This is political boob bait introduced by Rep. John Carter, R.-Texas, who has Ft. Hood in his district. Try Hasan, execute the anticipated sentence publicly, and THEN, with all the evidence properly presented without a chance of appealing on the grounds of pre-judgement, introduce the bill to award the medal for which the victims do not currently qualify. Then we´ll see who in Congress (and whether the President) will agree that Hasan and "Islamo-fascism" are an enemy. Don´t bet on it. It´ll likely never come to the floor, certainly not on a roll call vote.

Let me tell you, the whole military awards thing is broke. Instead of honoring sacrifice, heroism and selfless service above and beyond. They are based on rank and political correctness. Officers who never took fire or left their compound are put in for bronze stars while privates that engage the enemy are lucky to an Achievement medal.

Let me figure the logic of this:
1.If we give Purple Hearts to wounded military, then we will admit that a terrorist attack is a terrorist attack.
2. If we admit it is a terrorist attack, then it will "prejudice" the case against the murdering terrorist who committed it.
3. Somehow this is a bad thing.

Justice delayed is justice denied.

There are 14 dead Americans (one victim was pregnant), and numerous wounded victims who deserve to see Hasan sentenced for his crimes.

I can only surmise that the long wait for his trial is deliberate on the part of our government.

When the 22 Seals died in Afghanistan, the flag was NOT lowered to half-mast. 22 American heroes perished and the MIC did not honor them. Whitney Houstan, Druggie, got the flag lowered for her.

Obama said he´d always side with the Muslims, and he has.

He´s siding with Muslim terrorists over American soldiers.

He´s siding against all fact and reason, and refusing to acknowledge that the Fort Hood shooting was a terrorist attack.

He´s impeding the prosecution of Nidal Hassan.

Barack Obama hates America every bit as much as he hates white people and Jews.

California’s unemployment rate is rotten and holding steady. In March, according to the Los Angeles Times, the rate was 8.1%. In February, it was exactly the same. The Bureau of Labor Statistics reported that the state only added 11,800 net new jobs in March, many of them in construction, government, education, and health services. The greatest gains were in professional and business services, with 3,100 new positions. But the jobs numbers in hospitality, manufacturing, and leisure dipped, and the biggest drop came in financial activities, as the slowing rate of mortgages forced banks to fire employees. Democrats have a problem and everyone knows it. President Obama calls it a “congenital disease.” If they can’t control it, Obama could spend the final years of his presidency battling not only a Republican House but also a Republican Senate. Democrats don’t vote in midterm elections. That’s an exaggeration, of course, but the core of the Democratic coalition is made up of many people who turn out to vote only in presidential elections. The Republican coalition — older and whiter — suffers less from midterm falloff. So much has been made of the building blocks the president assembled to win his

The Secret Service won’t give any details about how often the fox trips the White House’s obviously sophisticated security alarms, but rest assured, officials say, they’re watching. President Obama was apparently “stunned” to see the fox roaming freely down the oft-photographed White House colonnade, home to the world’s shortest, but most dramatic, outdoor strolls. The bushy-tailed visitor

For Hillary Clinton, having her own baby grandchild to kiss on the campaign trail, could be one of the biggest boosts to her possible presidential election campaign. Although the former Secretary of State and First Lady has not said if she will run in 2016, the arrival of her first grandchild will soften her image, analysts have said. While Chelsea only revealed her pregnancy on Thursday, supporters of her mother have already started cooing over a possible baby in the White House. With the Clintons having a near-royal status in the U.S., the announcement of a new arrival due this fall has sent

I began reading the entirety of the first section of the New York Times at nine years old, and continued that practice, more or less, for decades.(snip) ...the power of reverence, intrinsic to what I call the “cascade” of The Times: the near avalanche-like flow and distribution of information through electronic and print networks: through like-minded network newscasts, magazines, local newspaper s, blogs, daytime talk TV, late-night entertainment, statements at media award ceremonies, the celebrity Twitterverse, etc. The cascade rolls through Saturday Night Live, Jon Stewart, The New Yorker, the mouths of third-grade teachers, Elmo, Madonna and Susan Sarandon …through

GREENSBORO, Ga. — Golf holes the size of pizzas. Soccer balls on the back nine. A mulligan on every hole. These are some of the measures — some would say gimmicks — that golf courses across the country have experimented with to stop people from quitting the game. Golf has always reveled in its standards and rich tradition. But increasingly a victim of its own image and hidebound ways, golf has lost five million players in the last decade, according to the National Golf Foundation, with 20 percent of the existing 25 million golfers apt to quit in the next few years. People under 35 have especially spurned the game, saying it takes too

That was quite a victory dance President Obama did Thursday while claiming Obamacare is “working” because eight million people have now supposedly signed up for the health care program. He even indulged in some less-than-subtle mockery of Republicans - and by extension the majority of Americans who have disapproved of Obamacare since before it became law. "The repeal debate is and should be over,” Obama said, taking a dig at Republicans who are “going through, you know, the stages of grief … anger and denial and all that stuff …” But a president who is viewed by most Americans as less

Hi, everybody. For millions of Americans, this time of year holds great meaning. Earlier this week, we hosted a Passover Seder at the White House, and joined Jewish families around the world in their re-tellings of the story of the Exodus and the victory of faith over oppression. And this Sunday, Michelle, Malia, Sasha, and I will join our fellow Christians around the world in celebrating the Resurrection of Christ, the salvation he offered the world, and the hope that comes with the Easter season. These holy days have their roots in miracles that took place long ago. And yet, they still inspire us, guide us, and strengthen us today. They remind us of our

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said Thursday that a family of dissident ranchers and their supporters in his home state of Nevada are ´domestic terrorists,´ citing this week´s standoff with the federal government´s Bureau of Land Management. Cliven Bundy has refused to pay grazing fees for land where his hundreds of cattle roam every day. The land is owned by the federal government, which says he owes more than $1 million. Bundy, however, insists that since his family has been using the land since the 1870s, Uncle Sam can´t collect the grazing fees. A tense standoff developed this week after

WASHINGTON--Rushing to an afternoon vote last month, Sen. Ted Cruz hopped the underground tram to the U.S. Capitol from his office across the street. The Texan planted his black ostrich cowboy boots in the middle of the small subway car without getting so much as a nod from the other senators--Republican or Democrat--amiably chatting or huddled in their seats. Mr. Cruz finds himself standing alone a lot these days. His response to the cold shoulders: "The establishment despised Ronald Reagan" before he became president, "but the people loved him." For the 43-year-old Republican, the Reagan name illuminates his political life´s

Imagine a vendor on the National Mall, selling burgers and dogs, who hasn’t paid his rent in 20 years. He refuses to recognize his landlord, the National Park Service, as a legitimate authority. Every court has ruled against him, and fines have piled up. What’s more, the effluents from his food cart are having a detrimental effect on the spring grass in the capital. Would an armed posse come to his defense, aiming their guns at the park police? Would the lawbreaker get prime airtime on Fox News, breathless updates in the Drudge Report, a sympathetic ear from Tea Party Republicans?

In a speech earlier this week, Lisa O. Monaco, President Barack Obama’s assistant for homeland security and counterterrorism, insisted that American parents must be vigilant because their “confrontational” children could be on the verge of becoming terrorists. Monaco’s full, prepared text is available here. She presented the speech, entitled “Countering Violent Extremism and the Power of Community,” at Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government on April 15. Monaco began her remarks by eloquently describing the lives tragically lost last year during the Boston Marathon bombings. Interestingly, the Harvard grad failed to mention the religion or the motive of brothers Dzhokhar and Tamerlan

Conservative columnist Ann Coulter — who used her talk show platform in the last presidential election cycle to campaign hard for former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney — has taken up the mantra once again, calling on Republicans to give the failed White House bidder another shot in 2016. She made the suggestion during a discussion on Sean Hannity’s radio show while speaking of her new book, “Never Trust a Liberal Over 3-Especially a Republican.” Ms. Coulter also addressed the question of Mr. Romney’s shortcomings by saying that his 2012 loss wasn’t entirely his fault. “I think too much blame, not only in this

Prominent Washington correspondents are accusing President Obama and his aides of knowingly stretching the truth on issues like the so-called women´s pay gap just to create controversy and keep issues -- and the president -- relevant. Washington Post columnist Ruth Marcus kicked off the attack last week when she blasted as “demagoguery” the administration´s tactics during the pay gap debate. “The level of hyperbole -- actually, of demagoguery -- that Democrats have engaged in here is revolting,” she wrote. CBS White House Correspondent Major Garrett then weighed in this week in his National Journal
