Pope Francis: A
Disappointment for Catholics Who
Don´t Like Being Catholic

American Thinker, by Drew Belsky

How can we tell that the conclave made a good decision in elevating Jorge Mario Bergoglio to the papacy? Exhibit A (through at least D): liberals are annoyed. But leftists´ problems with Pope Francis, well-emblazoned as they were within hours of the announcement, reveal some crucial truths about the Church that even many Catholics are loath to confront. When it came to Benedict XVI, the willfully uninformed chattering class had a field day -- rather, a field eight years

Beautifully written piece.

FTA "At MJ, (Mother Jones) we read, "I think this is a missed opportunity to bring the papacy closer to where the people are,"

The whole point of the Church is not to get closer to the people, but to bring the people closer to God.

IMO Pope Francis is a (divinely) inspired choice for pontiff. May God give him strength. He is going to need it.

If the liberal catholics had their way, they would have one of the dark knights of Sheol to be the pope. The liberal media is already taking orders from Hellboy and these cannot be that far behind. I am not a catholic, but if they take many more steps into the dark abyss, they will lose their faithful and all that will be left is these interested in the hellish quarrels of their moral lives.

We need an hardline Pope. Let the loosey-gooseys go. The Church will survive and grow stronger without them. May the Pope confront the muslim persecution of Christians worldwide immediately. Without the Eleventh Century Crusades, we would all be wearing burkhas and rags.

The religious freedom legislation that gelatin-spined Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer vetoed wasn´t controversial until the Left started lying about it. The state-level civil rights bill that Brewer mothballed Feb. 26 was killed by a media-led propaganda campaign that falsely characterized it as "anti-gay." To no one´s surprise, both of the GOP´s last two RINO losers, Mitt Romney and John McCain, urged a veto. Barack Obama is a failure as president, and with a little less than 3 years before he leaves office, people are starting to notice. On the economy, he has presided over the worst economic recovery from recession since WW II, and the lowest labor force participation rate in decades. He spent a trillion dollars of ‘stimulus,’ rewarding political backers and cronies, while exploding the budget line. This he touts as a great success, saving the nation from depression and saving or creating 6 million jobs. The ‘saved or created’ thing is perfect when trying to cast failure as success. Evidence is accumulating of a corrupt bureaucratic culture in many, if not all, federal agencies. Revelations of lavish meetings at fancy hotels, featuring stupid but expensive custom-made videos emerged in the last couple of years. But even worse, cases of bureaucrats stealing from taxpayers by taking time off while still being paid high salaries have been reported recently, with their supervisors knowingly turning a blind eye to the taxpayer rip-off. The EPA’s highest-paid employee pretended to be a CIA agent and defrauded the taxpayers of about $900,000 (snip) Officials in two Treasury Department bureaus fraudulently enriched themselves at taxpayer expense,

Perhaps Arizona governor Jan Brewer was sincere when saying that the Religious Freedom Restoration Act (SB 1062) she vetoed yesterday could “create more problems than it purports to solve.” After all, observers such as Napp Nazworth at The Christian Post contend that SB 1062 might actually — contrary to all the hysteria — have made it harder for most business owners to refuse service to homosexuals. This analysis may have merit and can be read here, but it’s irrelevant to a larger point: The GOP’s handling of this matter was a good illustration of conservatism’s fatal flaw. President Obama´s newfound enthusiasm for the minimum wage is the political equivalent of a ruse of war. Conservatives have noted that the rise of paganism in American culture and the deconstruction of moral values pushed by the left hearken back to another grim legacy of Nazism. President Obama´s proclaimed strategy to "bypass Congress" — most conspicuously his broad rewriting of the Affordable Care Act — has given unusual prominence to a fairly arcane legal doctrine: standing. Standing is what is preventing a potential blizzard of litigation against the president´s unilateral decrees, and ironically, it´s a doctrine liberal jurists have long decried. To challenge the government in federal court, it isn´t enough to simply believe that the government´s conduct is illegal or even unconstitutional. Federal courts can hear only specific disputes about the law as applied to particular people. To be heard in court, a person must have
