| Did a collective light bulb turn on in the minds of Saturday Night Live´s writing team this week? "You know, this President Obama guy doesn´t really have a firm grasp of economic matters," one writer suggests. The next, growing bolder, says, "and he´s always using human props to make his point instead of accurate facts and figures ..." The third, standing up, declares, "and FLOTUS does seem to appear across the media much more than any of her predecessors. And so we have last night's opening sketch, a chance to see what a political comedy show can do when it puts aside its partisan blinders

We also noticed a tiny slight change, although it is VERY hard to find much humor regarding 0bama because the very real problems which he & his statist policies are creating for America the Beautiful and that Libery for which it stands, are just far too serious.

Very funny. Their Obie is quite good...has his faux-folksy cadence down pat.
This won´t get me to watch SNL (I used to, long ago), but it is guardedly encouraging.

Unless the liberal mainstream media spends the next four years scorning and ridiculing Obama, as it did to George W. Bush and to Bill Clinton with the Monica brouhaha during THEIR second terms, it will go out of business.
No one´s going to buy newspapers to read about Obama trying to raise the minimum wage or about his numerous expensive travels and golf outings, which the public is already tired of.
What will SNL find to ridicule if not Obama and his comedically target-rich administration, including the gaffe-prone Joe Biden, John Kerry, and Chuck Hagel, who should have everyone rolling in the aisles for the next four years.

Baby steps in the right direction. The cynic in me assumes the network´s marketing execs decided they´d gleaned as much revenue from the Left as they can for the time being, so they decided to pander to the Right for a moment. I don´t expect it to last, much less to become even more even-handed, politically speaking.
Note, too, that mocking a minority in any way will get you branded as a bigot, no matter how relevant or accurate the satire might be. If SNL starts mocking Obama in the manner they mocked Bush, things will have to be so far gone in the country that being called a bigot will be the least of anybody´s worries.

They will only mock a Democrat on something that the LoFo voter believes he/she shouldn´t care about.

When Huffington departed the 4,400 square foot, seven-story apartment at 227 W. 17th Street in January she´d caused $275,000 in damages ranging from "gouged, stained and otherwise damaged" walls, "scratched, punctured" wood floors, bloodied mattresses and broken appliances, the Manhattan Supreme Court suit charges. "Huffington was using the apartment for large parties and business functions in breach of the sublease and Huffington´s promises," court papers allege.

The Weekly Standard obtained a copy of the program for President Obama’s Easter service at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Washington, D.C., and reports a few “highlights” from Rev. Dr. Luis Leon’s sermon: We often want things to go back to the way things used to be, before “work got difficult and faith got confused, and life got more confusing,” but when we dwell on the “if only” of life we forget that “God addresses us in the now.” As Jesus told Mary not to hold on to the past, “You cannot go back.”

Although the term "useful idiots" was originally attributed to Vladimir Lenin, its origin is undetermined but it is very applicable to the naïve celebrities in Hollywood and the media now mourning the death of Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez. Much like the devotees of Fidel Castro and Che Guevara, these grieving individuals have made no effort to learn the truth about those they lionize. One has to feel some pity for the likes of the Sean Penns, Oliver Stones, Michael Moores, Danny Glovers, and idolaters who naively support malignant despots and causes believing them to be a force for good.

Jurors convicted Kilpatrick of a raft of crimes, including a racketeering conspiracy charge that carries a maximum punishment of 20 years behind bars. He was portrayed during a five-month trial as an unscrupulous politician who took bribes, rigged contracts and lived far beyond his means while in office until fall 2008.

Ninety million. People not in the labor force grew by 663,000, and now 90 million. That´s the labor force participation rate. This is 1979 levels.

President Obama´s biggest gaffe yesterday when speaking of California Attorney General Kamala Harris was not in flirtatiously complimenting her as "the best-looking attorney general," but in introducing an observation from the system of beauty into a forum that was about the system of power. What´s that, you say? Irin Carmon does a great job in Salon in laying out the bounds of propriety for when it´s appropriate to talk about a woman´s looks as a general matter. But I´ve long felt we lack a solid theoretical underpinning for easily discussing these issues, and why precisely it is that

No one is more preoccupied these days with Hillary Clinton´s 2016 plans than the Beltway political class—not even the former presidential candidate herself. To hear some tell it, her decision will be dispositive for all other Democrats thinking of entering the race. If she runs, she clears the field.” It´s an understandable conclusion, given Clinton´s stature in the Democratic Party and her 70 percent

Put out an all-points bulletin: Millions of Americans have gone missing from the workforce. Every month that those would-be workers are gone raises the odds that they might never come back, dimming the prospects for future economic growth. The vanishing trend is more than a decade old, but it accelerated during the Great Recession. Throughout 2012, economists held out hope that it had stopped. But then came Friday’s jobs report, and hopes were dashed. The Labor Department reported that the U.S. labor force — everyone who has a job or is looking for one — shrank
