| As coverage of last week’s flare-up between Bob Woodward and the White House devolved into the granular parsing of words and implications and extrapolations and possible intent, the larger point was roundly missed: the increasing pressure that White House correspondents feel when dealing with the Obama administration — to follow their narrative, to be properly deferential (!), to react to push-back by politely sitting down and shutting up.

forgive my spleen, but why shouldn´t the WH react this way? Obama´s henchmen played it this way from 2007 on and yet the press pushed whatever fictitious nonsense they were fed from "hope and change" in 2007 to "Obama called benghazi terrorism the next day" in 2012. NOW SUDDENLY we are supposed to feel all bad about the poor press being bullied. Well, I´m glad this is all coming out and I hope it opens the floodgates of this worst administration in all american history. But these press corpsmen (should that be corpse-men?) are in the only job specifically protected by the constitution and that means they have an obligation to tell the truth and they are the no good bums who foisted Obama on us for EIGHT YEARS OF DESTRUCTION. And now they are crying about how badly they are being treated. OK press corps. Go at it with a vengeance! but I will always remember Nixon. After he was rehabilitated, he gave a speech to the Washington press corps. They gave him a standing ovation. He shook all the hands. He was on his way out and said to Bill Safire, "they´re still a bunch of [excrements]"

Well he is black, well half black and that half requires everyone to be deferential to him if not you are just a racist. No criticism, no difficult questions, no questioning of motives, can´t question work ethic or vacations, all just because of the color of Obama´s skin! What have we become to let this happen?? He and the Democrats are willfully destroying this country with their policies and the msm can´t see that? Does the msm have no children or grandchildren or elderly parents all of whom will be severely impacted including shorten lives because of what is going on. This country is at high risk of falling into to total chaos and the "Press" cow tails to Obama so they won´t be criticized like Woodword? God help us all!

Just think about Obama´s general modus: He performs poorly and actively engages in processes that intentionally damage the US. Anyone who dares speak out about any of it is strong armed, threatened in a way only DC commies could. Is this what affirmative action is supposed to produce? Is this Frankenstein a byproduct?
It´s my belief Obama has a propaganda machine, the likes of which have never been seen, even on blogs. It´s easy to get that feeling seeing what lefties post on other blogs: they attack, calling people who expose Obama extremely vile names, disparage/discredit their sources, try to get people to not read articles by saying, "skipped". I just laugh and crank up the volume even more. Like one previous cl poster once said, "If you´re catching flak, you are most likely over the target.

Posting my replies right here on Lucianne dot com’s threads, as I have for years, is a privilege I do not take lightly. Were it not for Lucianne, I’m pretty sure by now I’d be nursing a world-class ulcer. I think I read somewhere that freely expressing one’s opinion – venting and ranting – is a boon to one’s mental health. I know it is to mine.
Especially during this ghastly administration, the so-called mainstream media, rather than reporting the news, has distorted or invented or omitted it. And now, all of a sudden things are no longer so hunky-dory for the media? Aw! Serves ‘em right!

Perhaps the rump swabs in the press aren´t keeping their lips on zippy´s backside for ideological reasons only. Maybe it´s that old thing about feeding the crocodile in the hope that he will eat you last. Look at the history of communism and of dictators - who is the first to be thrown up against the wall and shot when the bad guys finally achieve power? The "free" press, of course.

Look, any journalist who managed to elicit an abusive phone call or email form an administration spokesman would have an immediate winner of a story. Make it clear that the minute the communication goes nasty, it´s on the record and in the story, period. With that caveat an open policy, not only is abusive treatment of the press unwise on the part of public figures, it´s an invitation for public censure. The crybabies in the press are just that. Man up and stand up to these guys or find a new profession, but spare us the whining.

When I read stories like this, I´m reminded of Hugo Chavez, who several years ago made it a crime to "insult the president" (himself). What that meant was that any reporter who criticized Chavez or his policies went to prison.

sending fighter jets and more destructive things to muslim enemy regimes should be enough even for communist democrats to moan about, might even arouse a greed addicted republican or two, but no. All of crazed DC is too busy stealing fake Fed fiat paper money, while they can, to be protective or aware of anything sensible to our nation. The most frightening of them all, even more than mobamao, is the lovely hall monitor who should be watching for bad things happening, you know, Diane Sawyer. But wait, she´s being paid millions, penthouse, limo, to keep her mouth shut and see no evil. She´s doing a great racket protecting job bringing America to ruin on the fast track. ...along with all of the mainstream TV/ press and most of the pointless arguing scenarios of Fox News, too.

It is beyond the pale to expect honest reporting from a press corpse that is 90% left wing democrat. BUTY it may be that if their ox is gored enough, they might insist of being able to use their own photographers instead of being fed posed shots by the DNC flacks, and they might [point out some of the more obvious lies coming out from 0blamer Biden and Carney. Probably too much to hope for from the Ministry of Truth.

If they say to punish a reporter it will be done by one of his confederates with no questions asked. Being the wimps they are they will generally heel.

Either Obama will invite them to wine and dine and sing softly until their toes curl and all is forgiven... or, his power is cemented and he need only remind them with a kick in the teeth now and then. This is an abuser´s m.o.
The real change comes when the abused figures out they can leave. There is a price to pay, though...a high price. I guess we´ll see who is willing to pay it to regain their dignity and peace of mind. God help them.
The alternative is a life of continued degradation which usually ends in disgrace or death.

Today´s American press is worthless, even destructive, as facts & truth do not matter to the majority of those dem puppets who are simply masquerading as authentic, ´´journalists.´´ This is not what was envisioned by the Founders in the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution regarding freedoms need for a free press.

Growing concerns over protests roiling Libya prompted the State Department to begin evacuating some diplomats from Tripoli, as the Pentagon put troops stationed at nearby European bases on high alert. The response was driven in part by the controversy over lax security at U.S. diplomatic installations in Libya last year, when four U.S. government employees, including Ambassador J. Christopher Stevens, were killed in a terrorist attack. Fallout from the Sept. 11, 2012, assault in Benghazi continues to be the subject of an intense political fight, with Republicans accusing the Obama administration of being negligent and attempting to cover up embarrassing facts.

Conservative radio talker Mark Levin appears to have touched off the investigation into Internal Revenue Service targeting of conservative political groups back in March 2012. In a letter last year on behalf of the Landmark Legal Foundation, an organization he heads, Levin requested an investigation into what he called “misconduct.” On Friday, the Internal Revenue Service revealed that it had improperly targeted conservative groups for audits during the 2012 election. During a conference call, Lois Lerner, the IRS’s director of exempt organizations, explained that IRS staffers selected groups

I kid you not: The IRS just released a statement on its improper harassment of conservative groups in the run-up to the 2012 election including the words: “mistakes were made.” Here is the full statement: Between 2010 and 2012, the IRS saw the number of applications for section 501(c)(4) status double. As a result, local career employees in Cincinnati sought to centralize work and assign cases to designated employees in an effort to promote consistency and quality. This approach has worked in other areas.

Friday afternoon MSNBC´s Luke Russert anchored "Now with Alex Wagner" when the news of the altered Libya talking points finally made their way to the left-wing network hours after ABC´s Jonathan Karl first broke the story. After Kelly O´Donnell finished her report, a visibly rattled Russert turned to his panel and said, "Politically, this is not good for the White House. Does it stick?" BuzzFeed´s Ben Smith was the first to answer, saying, "Sure, they look terrible." Smith then went on to lay out the rationale behind the coverup without actually using the word coverup:

“These changes don’t resolve all of my issues or those of my building’s leadership.” With that sentence, one in a series of emails and draft “talking points” leaked to Jonathan Karl of ABC News, the Obama administration was caught playing politics with Benghazi. Summaries of White House and State Department emails -- some of which were first published by Stephen F. Hayes of the Weekly Standard -- also contradict the White House version of events that led to U.N. Ambassador Susan Rice misleading the public about the cause of the Sept. 11, 2012, attack on the U.S. installation in Libya.

Identifying the raiders as the secretive SEAL Team 6 put a target on the heads of the members of the doomed mission in Afghanistan, the parents said.

As a presidential speech writer for the first Bush White House, I am always very interested in what presidents say in their formal speeches. They know, of course, that their remarks will be widely covered by the press, studied by analysts, and influential in contemporary political debates. For that reason, presidents rarely speak off-the-cuff, and their every word is carefully chosen for exactly the message the White House wants to convey to the public. Their graduation speeches, like all presidential addresses, go through many drafts and are reviewed by high-level administration officials

The most notable takeaway from Jay Carney’s incomprehensible Friday appearance had little to do with his Klingon grammar. Carney does not represent the historical value of the event – you should be wise to forget his performance, and instead take note that he was flanked by the entire room, without exception. Do not underestimate the significance: the Obama administration has not faced such an onslaught of truth-seeking since he took office in 2008, and further, no Democratic administration has been charged from all sides like this in recent memory. That press conference was unthinkable just days ago

Harkening back to a Mitt Romney press conference on September 12, 2012, which addressed the Benghazi attacks only in passing while focusing instead on the assault on the American embassy in Cairo, Egypt, Carney suggested that Romney had tried to target the innocent Obama administration for telling the truth about Benghazi. “Republicans, again, in this ongoing effort that began in the hours after the attack when Mitt Romney put out a press release to try to take political

When it became clear last fall that the CIA’s now discredited Benghazi talking points were flawed, the White House said repeatedly the document were put together almost entirely by the intelligence community, but White House documents reviewed by Congress suggest a different story. ABC News has obtained 12 different versions of the talking points that show they were extensive edited as they evolved from the drafts first written entirely by the CIA to the final version distributed to Congress and to U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. Susan Rice before she appeared on five talk shows the Sunday after that attack.

She weathered Whitewater. She made it past Monica ?Lewinsky. Now Hillary Clinton is hoping to beat the rap on Benghazi and make it to the White House. The Clinton political machine is in full campaign mode already, preparing for 2016 and hoping voters forget by then that she had a key role in the Obama administration’s handling of the terror attack. But that’s becoming more difficult as the GOP appears to be laying the groundwork for tying Clinton to Benghazi and making sure it stays front and center in the next campaign. Some of the testimony from State Department whistleblowers

Earlier today, we learned about a bombshell report that said the CIA´s Benghazi talking points were changed 12 times, with extensive input from the State Department. It comes after State Department whistleblower Gregory Hicks testified Wednesday that he was shocked when he saw Susan Rice blaming a protest for the attack on numerous talk shows. Martha MacCallum discussed the next steps in the investigation of what happened in Benghazi with Hicks´ attorney, Victoria Toensing. At this point, she thinks "it´s about time" that House Republicans start issuing subpoenas,

Shortly before last November’s election I took part in a Fox News documentary on Benghazi, whose other participants included the former governor of New Hampshire John Sununu. Making chit-chat while the camera crew were setting up, Governor Sununu said to me that in his view Benghazi mattered because it was “a question of character.” That’s correct. On a question of foreign policy or counterterrorism strategy, men of good faith can make the wrong decisions. But a failure of character corrodes the integrity of the state. That’s why career diplomat Gregory Hicks’s testimony

"Every year for the past few years, on Mother´s Day, I´ve gone--I´ve taken a delegation--into Afghanistan or Iraq, we´re alternating now, now Afghanistan--for Mother´s Day to say thank you to our moms and, by the way, our grandmothers, who are serving there. Some young grandmothers. But, nonetheless, grandmothers. To also thank all of our troops for what they do to protect America´s families. I won´t be going this particular weekend because we don´t have--you know, under sequestration, we don´t have codels."

WASHINGTON — The Internal Revenue Service is apologizing for inappropriately flagging conservative political groups for additional reviews during the 2012 election to see if they were violating their tax-exempt status. Lois Lerner, who heads the IRS unit that oversees tax-exempt groups, said organizations that included the words "tea party" or "patriot" in their applications for tax-exempt status were singled out for additional reviews. Lerner said the practice, initiated by low-level workers in Cincinnati, was wrong and she apologized while speaking at a conference in Washington. Many conservative groups complained during the election

It´s been 11 days and counting since the Jets cut ties with Tim Tebow and 13 months since they traded for him. Much of the conversation in the past week and a half has been about which teams -- if any -- would be interested in the former Heisman Trophy winner. The usual suspects include Tebow´s hometown Jacksonville Jaguars, but new general manager David Caldwell has said in no uncertain terms that Tebow isn´t an option (laudatory commercials from local lawyers notwithstanding). The other, less conventional landing spot: New England. Coach Bill Belichick sees value where other talent evaluators don´t

Esteemed Republican strategist and lobbyist Roger Stone writes in his upcoming book that former president Lyndon B. Johnson set up John F. Kennedy’s assassination. Stone also writes that Richard Nixon and Johnson had a documented relationship with Jack Ruby, Lee Harvey Oswald’s killer, years before he shot Oswald in the basement of Dallas police headquarters in 1963. Stone, who worked for Richard Nixon’s Committee to Re-elect the President in 1972 and later served in the Nixon administration, writes that Johnson, a congressman at the time, instructed Richard Nixon, also a congressman at the time, to hire Ruby onto

DUBLIN -Former US President Jimmy Carter said in Dublin “the EU should move to introduce proper labelling of goods produced on illegal Israeli settlements in the West Bank.” (snip)It could therefore introduce a clear labelling of products made in Israeli settlements, which are illegal under international law,” he added. Ireland currently holds the rotating EU presidency until end of June. Mary Robinson said this was not “an anti-Israel move,” but rather “a concrete step, supported by many of our Israeli friends, to revive the hope of a future state of Palestine
