The wonderful liberal maxim of "speaking truth to power" apparently only applies when Republicans are in power.

Great men like Dr. Carson are not intimidated - He has a gentle dignity sorely missing in all the current administration.

I imagine similar speaker advice is given prior to this sort of non-political event by any president´s staff. No one is under any obligation to follow it.

The National Prayer Breakfast is hosted by members of Congress. It is organized by The Fellowship Foundation. The President is a participant. It is not about him and he is not in charge. This president, however, seems to have a problem with that concept.

WH Told Me ´Not To Offend The President´
Start the speech with that and then look at obama and ask why anyone would state that.
Are you a man obama? Are you so insecure you cannot be criticized and if you are then you should not be here let alone president of the United States.

I doubt very seriously if this sort of question is SOP by a White House for THIS event. Only an anti-Christian minded Democrat WH would be concerned about Dr. Carson. Thanks Dr. Carson for telling all!

My thoughts exactly as per No 11 - I´d say it right out loud in front of a BIG audience, "So what - are you a man or a mouse? WORDS wound your delicate little feelings?" I think we just found his Achilles heal - RIDICULE him and often. He obviously can´t stand criticism. That is how to keep him off balance!

I saw the interview on Hannity last evening.
While it is likely true that no one is "under obligation" to follow advice from the WH for these kinds of events, this WH is like no other, and 0bama is surely peeved with Dr. Carson´s comments. However, I seriously doubt that the WH or anyone else would be able to ruffle the doctor´s feathers. Dr. Carson IS a brain surgeon, after all. He is an extremely accomplished, intelligent, man; 0bama is not. Dr. Carson has spent his career saving lives; 0bama is a destroyer of everything decent and good. Dr. Carson has integrity; 0bama is a sociopathic liar.
I surmise that the Left doesn´t quite know what to do with Dr. Carson. But I would wager that even 0bama knows it would be foolish to publicly snipe at him.

Dr. Carson is a rare man in today´s world. He does not have a squishy middle (take note Republicans). He KNOWS what is right and what is wrong and calls them as he sees them. He can do this because he knows God is on his side.

Dr. Ben Carson is not only courageous about speaking up about the White House´s attempt to intimidate him, he also apparently learned from Bob Woodward´s experience not to use the word ´´threaten.´´
Instead, he used words like ´´inform´´ and ´´instruct,´´ which the White House can´t get publicly angry about without appearing even more paranoid than Nixon at his worst, but which imply the same kind of bullying.
So it´s now clear that the White House must have a special detachment dedicated to threatening, warning, and instructing those who might say uncomfortable things about Obama.
Which means that the group must include a surveillance capability to find ferret out possible targets for threats and intimidation like Dr. Carson, and then to follow up to see if the threats were heeded.
It´s clear that if even a previously non-political neurosurgeon attracted the group´s attention, many others have also received their treatment, so the fact that few are joining Dr. Carson and Bob Woodward in solidarity speaks volumes about the reign of terror that the Obama White House has visited upon Washington.

When Doctor Carson´s "Speaking Truth to Power" band-wagon came to town, I was eager to get on board.
And when he told Sean Hannity that, prior to the prayer breakfast, the White House asked him "not to offend the President", I was ready to quit my plow and join Carson’s Army.
But then, when Mr Hannity asked the Doctor to reveal the identity of that WH person, he refused, saying, “I probably would not be wise to share that.”
What? He won’t name that Obama pit-bull? What happened to the fearless man who could not be intimidated? What happened to “speaking truth to power”?
With all respect due this accomplished neurosurgeon, I’m not yet convinced what he alleged actually took place, so I hope he will make a public challenge giving the Obama pit-bull 72 hours to stand up and tell his side of the story, and if the man (or woman) does not come forward, proceed to expose him.
Now, if the good Doctor fails to take that final and necessary step in smoking out his alleged tormentor, it tells me he doesn’t really understand what the “Speaking Truth to Power” game is all about, which is you either go all the way, or you stay home.
What say you, Doctor? I’ll be watching for you on Hannity.

I´m curious as to what would happen if a speaker submitted his remarks, then when he came up to the podium, told a different speech. Would the WH stop the speech?
These people are power mad, and I hope everyone else notices it too before any more damage is done.

#23´s comment makes no sense to me. It seems to be a clumsy attempt to undermine the credibility of Dr. Carson. Such attempts are to be expected. They will need to be more sophisticated than this.
"Either you go all the way, or you stay home?"
Why? Who says so?
Why does it matter who reminded Dr. Carson not to offend the president? Who cares? As others have noted, such pro forma advice to speakers is common. It is significant that Dr. Carson chose to "transgress the boundaries"(a favorite phrase of Leftists to describe doing something they want to do, something that in their case usually involves sex). The name of the person who reminded him not to do so is of no consequence.

The routine nightly lampooning of GOP Presidents and accomplished conservative pols has been major schtick for late night hosts and, ´comedians,´ since the Pres. Reagan years. It was usually tacky & tasteless but never stopped.
However, with the touchy & humorless President we now have, even Jay Leno is leaving, and who can blame him. 0bama has no tolerance for ANY opposition, no matter where it comes from. ...He apparently doesn´t even like the idea of the Constitution´s checks & balances which are provided for each of our three EQUAL Branches of Government. And then there is that freedom of the press problem. mmm mmm mmm

I was recently reminded that the three branches of government are NOT equal. The legislative branch is the most powerful and the judicial the least powerful with the executive in the middle. It was designed this way because the founders wanted the branch closest to the people to hold the most power (of the people, by the people) and seriously mistrusted the judicial branch.

Reagan knew what he thought was the right thing to say, and so he simply said it.

Once again, Sean & Dr. Carson team up to enlighten us. Thanx OP and Staff for bringing this to us. I found this thread to be most interesting and I am pleased to be able to respond to some of you.
#3: We are all grateful, I’m sure, that you jump onto the thread with your “imaginings’ some twenty minutes after it’s posted. Especially when these beliefs tend to provide cover for an undoubtedly thuggish WH.
#17: You’re on the mark, straight out of the Alinsky playbook: RIDICULE. Let’s do it to him often, from all sides.
#20: Your last paragraph made me think of Chief Justice John Roberts. How many of us would choose not to become martyrs if we were seriously threatened?
#23: Do I sense a certain amount of hypocricy in your post? You seem much too eager to jump off “Doctor Carson´s ‘Speaking Truth to Power’ band-wagon,” as you call it. Are you now going back to your plow because Dr. Carson honorably chose not to reveal the source of the threat?
And speaking of Dr. Carson, I am truly amazed by this man. I have soaked myself in his videos, articles about him, etc. since he burst onto the scene a mere three weeks ago. He is blessed.
I truly believe that this man will be instrumental in bringing Barack Obama down.
I am near the word limit here, so I will only say: watch his eyes, his calm demeanor, the wisdom and quiet passion in his words. Compare their two stories, especially their mothers, and the Divine intervention (in my estimation) in young Ben Carson´s not stabbing that boy with a penknife. He has been given to us, folks, all of us. Mark my words.

Great thread and even a greater surprise that there are some among us who would defend any facet of this thuggish dictator´s administration. #8 nailed it. Obama was nothing more than another invitee to this event. If we can´t criticize him in this venue, we can´t ever do it anywhere or anytime. My answer to the "don´t offend the President" warning is:

#23 You´re not even reasonably well cloaked re: what you really suggesting. That Dr. Carson didn´t name the WH insider who issued the warning makes good sense and to suggest otherwise is nothing more than a lame attempt to hint that unless Dr. Carson proves himself with a name he must be lying. There was only one liar on the platform and we all know who he is.

Arianna Huffington partied so hard in her rented Chelsea loft that it looked like a scene from Animal House after a rowdy frat party, according to a new lawsuit. When Huffington departed the 4,400 square foot, seven-story apartment at 227 W. 17th Street in January she´d caused $275,000 in damages ranging from "gouged, stained and otherwise damaged" walls, "scratched, punctured" wood floors, bloodied mattresses and broken appliances, the Manhattan Supreme Court suit charges. "Huffington was using the apartment for large parties and business functions in breach of the sublease and Huffington´s promises," court papers allege.

The Weekly Standard obtained a copy of the program for President Obama’s Easter service at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Washington, D.C., and reports a few “highlights” from Rev. Dr. Luis Leon’s sermon: We often want things to go back to the way things used to be, before “work got difficult and faith got confused, and life got more confusing,” but when we dwell on the “if only” of life we forget that “God addresses us in the now.” As Jesus told Mary not to hold on to the past, “You cannot go back.”

Although the term "useful idiots" was originally attributed to Vladimir Lenin, its origin is undetermined but it is very applicable to the naïve celebrities in Hollywood and the media now mourning the death of Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez. Much like the devotees of Fidel Castro and Che Guevara, these grieving individuals have made no effort to learn the truth about those they lionize. One has to feel some pity for the likes of the Sean Penns, Oliver Stones, Michael Moores, Danny Glovers, and idolaters who naively support malignant despots and causes believing them to be a force for good.

Lieberman — Al Gore’s vice presidential running mate in 2000 and a Democratic presidential candidate in 2004 — will co-chair AEI’s American Internationalism Project, an effort to rebuild a bipartisan consensus about big foreign policy questions. “There is an urgent need to rebuild a bipartisan — indeed non-political — consensus for American diplomatic, economic, and military leadership in the world,” Lieberman said in a statement.

DETROIT — Former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick was convicted Monday of corruption charges, ensuring a return to prison for a man once among the nation’s youngest big-city leaders. Jurors convicted Kilpatrick of a raft of crimes, including a racketeering conspiracy charge that carries a maximum punishment of 20 years behind bars. He was portrayed during a five-month trial as an unscrupulous politician who took bribes, rigged contracts and lived far beyond his means while in office until fall 2008.

One day last fall, Matt Lauer walked out of his 30 Rock office and took the elevator to the 51st floor to see Steve Burke, the chief executive of NBC Universal. Lauer was feeling down. Week after week, he was getting pummeled by the press for the sinking fortunes of the Today show. The veteran host was being blamed for the messy departure of Ann Curry and the downward ratings spiral of what had been the iconic program in morning television. “If you think the show’s better off without me, let me know,

RUSH: Folks, I don´t know how else to categorize this. We are living in a dying country. I don´t know how else to categorize what´s happening -- 88,000 new jobs. The unemployment rate, because of a terrible statistic, is down to 7.6%. The number of people in this country who are not working is shameful. Ninety million Americans are no longer in the workforce. Ninety million. People not in the labor force grew by 663,000, and now 90 million. That´s the labor force participation rate. This is 1979 levels.

President Obama´s biggest gaffe yesterday when speaking of California Attorney General Kamala Harris was not in flirtatiously complimenting her as "the best-looking attorney general," but in introducing an observation from the system of beauty into a forum that was about the system of power. What´s that, you say? Irin Carmon does a great job in Salon in laying out the bounds of propriety for when it´s appropriate to talk about a woman´s looks as a general matter. But I´ve long felt we lack a solid theoretical underpinning for easily discussing these issues, and why precisely it is that

Michelle Obama has admitted that she is already tired of the bangs she first sported in January. The First Lady said in an interview with Entertainment Tonight: ´Bangs are a day-by-day proposition. They´re starting to grow out, get a little irritating.´ Still, she hasn´t let her hairdo woes get her down. ´It´s okay,´ she said after her initial complaint. ´We´ll be good.´ The first indication that her hairstyle was becoming a burden came about last weekend, when Malia, 14, was spotted adjusting her mother´s hair during the White House Easter Egg Roll.

No one is more preoccupied these days with Hillary Clinton´s 2016 plans than the Beltway political class—not even the former presidential candidate herself. To hear some tell it, her decision will be dispositive for all other Democrats thinking of entering the race. And pundits and reporters aren´t the only ones positing the "The Hillary Factor": No less than the House Democratic whip, Steny Hoyer, told BuzzFeed, “I don´t know that anybody would run against Hillary…. If she runs, she clears the field.” It´s an understandable conclusion, given Clinton´s stature in the Democratic Party and her 70 percent

I hope all will look at a lifetime of service over some poorly chosen words.” Carson will remain as commencement speaker at Johns Hopkins,

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton explained to the Women in the World summit in New York today that the clock is turning back for women in America. Clinton praised her own mother for helping empower her to success and marveled at the opportunities that her own daughter Chelsea has pursued. But Clinton warned that there is still so much to do to promote women´s rights in America. "As I look at all these young women that I am privileged to work with, or know through Chelsea, and its hard to imagine turning the clock on them," Clinton said.

The Obama White House is scrambling to blame Friday’s abysmal March jobs numbers on the sequester’s trimming of the rate of growth in federal budgets that have yet to fully commence. After the Labor Department announced that a mass exodus of 663,000 workers left the U.S. workforce last month and that job creation fell 112,000 jobs short of projections, Obama’s top economic adviser Alan B. Krueger, took to the White House blog to blame the sequester: It is important to bear in mind that the March household and payroll surveys are the first monthly surveys to look

On Friday, Sean Hannity brought Pat Smith, mother of the late Sean Smith, on his radio program. The 34-year-old information management officer was one of four Americans murdered in the Benghazi embassy attack on September 11, 2012. In the chilling interview, a distraught Ms. Smith, in tears, pleaded for answers and spoke of the efforts to silence her. Ms. Smith first relayed how her son, prior to the attack, requested additional security in advance and warned the State Department: He did tell them, ahead of time, he typed it into his little typewriter over there,

Put out an all-points bulletin: Millions of Americans have gone missing from the workforce. Every month that those would-be workers are gone raises the odds that they might never come back, dimming the prospects for future economic growth. The vanishing trend is more than a decade old, but it accelerated during the Great Recession. Throughout 2012, economists held out hope that it had stopped. But then came Friday’s jobs report, and hopes were dashed. The Labor Department reported that the U.S. labor force — everyone who has a job or is looking for one — shrank

SANFORD - Trayvon Martin´s parents have settled a wrongful death claim for an amount believed to be more than $1 million against the homeowners association of the Sanford subdivision where their teenage son was killed. Their attorney, Benjamin Crump, filed that paperwork at the Seminole County Courthouse, a portion of which was made public today. In the five pages of the settlement that were available for public review, the settlement amount had been marked out. Lower in the agreement, the parties specified that they would keep that amount confidential. When asked during an earlier interview whether the amount was

Beyonce and Jay-Z celebrated their fifth wedding anniversary in Cuba this week. The couple, who married on April 4, 2008, took in the sights of Old Havana, visited a school, dined on a rooftop terrace and strolled the fan-filled streets in their island best.(snip).The power couple declined to answer journalists´ questions about their visit to the island nation, but some outlets are reporting that the moguls are there as tourists, though that would be illegal because of the half-century embargo the U.S. has on the Communist country. However, the Miami Herald said Washington has issued special licenses for
