This Summer, Fire Island
Isn’t the Place to Bare All

New York Times, by Marc Santora

New Yorkers who want to be naked at the beach this summer might want to head to New Jersey. The last major sanctuary in the state to frolic in the ocean without a swimsuit, Lighthouse Beach on Fire Island, will begin enforcing a state ban on nudity. “Twenty years ago, people would go down there to sunbathe,” said Lena Koschmann, the chief ranger of Fire Island National Seashore, a unit of the National Park Service. “Fast forward to today. You have thousands of people and you have more of a party atmosphere. There has also been an increase

Hippie Hollow in Austin used to be the place for naturalists (they don´t like to be called nudists) to gather, but the the whole thing has been toned down a lot.

I worked at a famous FL nude beach. I saw sexual things people do to themselves and others that I didn´t know were possible. It attracted sexual predators and child molesters. The nudists/gays have connections all the way up to DC, so this is unexpected and totally welcomed by the regular visiting public.

If the mayor can dictate how much soda one can drink at one time in new York city what´s to stop him from banning nudity on fire island?
This is NOT going to make the gay community
happy, but then again somebody voted for this
little dictator so people SHUT UP you got what you deserved!!
Hey, New York City, how does it feel to have
your government dictate to you how to conduct
your personal affairs like how much salt you can consume, to be told no trans fats in your
diet, how much soda to consume at one time, and when and when not to get naked!!
What a bunch of IDIOTS you people of new York city are!!

I read one report years ago that Fire Island was the point where AIDS was probably introduced to America.

Lots of free sodomy with multiple partners on a daily basis to get the ball rolling.

We never get the message until it´s way too late...

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia — Australian officials shifted their search for the missing Malaysian jetliner by nearly 700 miles, citing "a new credible lead´´ about the path of the aircraft and where debris may be located. Martin Dolan, chief commissioner of the Australian Air Transport Safety Bureau, said a revised analysis of radar data prompted the agency to refocus the search in the Indian Ocean off Perth. The analysis indicates that the plane was flying faster than previously estimated between the South China Sea and the Strait of Malacca before radar contact was lost, Dolan said. DETROIT -- The families of Detroit´s Brightmoor area are delighted that the day is finally approaching when bulldozers will arrive to level more of their neighborhood. After that, their community´s future will be like the cleared landscape - a blank canvas. For years, Brightmoor residents pleaded with the city to demolish vacant homes that scavengers had stripped of wiring and plumbing and anything of value. Some structures are already gone, and now officials aim to do much more, possibly tearing down as many as 450 empty houses each week across more than 20 square miles of this bankrupt city - a

Nate Silver´s first electoral prediction at the new 538.com was that Democrats are likely to lose the Senate. The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, which exists solely to keep that from happening, quickly issued a memo hoping to undermine the charge, because Silver threatened to move perceptions of November from hard-but-doable to ugh-why-bother territory. Campaigns spend a lot of time and energy keeping donors, activists, and supporters in a very precisely determined zone, which we´ll call the "motivation" zone. All of those groups need to think that the candidate they´re supporting is on the verge of losing the race, at all times,

As part of its plan to reduce U.S. greenhouse gas emissions, the Obama administration is targeting the dairy industry to reduce methane emissions in their operations. This comes despite falling methane emission levels across the economy since 1990. The White House has proposed cutting methane emissions from the dairy industry by 25 percent by 2020. Although U.S. agriculture only accounts for about 9 percent of the country’s greenhouse gas emissions, according to the Environmental Protection Agency, it makes up a sizeable portion of methane emissions — which is a very potent greenhouse gas. Some of these methane emissions come from

When Jorge Mario Bergoglio became Pope Francis a little more than a year ago, the first thing that struck those who knew him well was his unexpected, beatific smile. “In Argentina, he didn’t smile like that,” Sergio Rubin, the pope’s biographer, said this week at a conference sponsored by the Ethics and Public Policy Center. “That was the big surprise.” Since then, the pope has mostly kept on smiling — in homilies, in audiences, in meetings with the homeless and the poor.
