This Titanic Replica Could
Sink Just Like the Original

For an as-of-yet unnamed price, you too can board a massive luxury ocean liner much like the Titanic for its maiden voyage in 2016. And just as it was on that fateful journey, you too could go down with the ship, according to designs unveiled today. Of course, Australian billionaire Clive Palmer isn´t planning for his expensive pet project to sink. At the Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum today, he publicly released design plans for the ship, Hopefully James Cameron wasn´t planning a sequel, because Palmer took the name Titanic II for his weirdly nostalgic

To me,thinking this ship will sink like the first one is a form of phobia and superstition. The original Titanic was a masterpiece at the time it sailed and the biggest downfall might have just been the lack of lifeboats.I´m sure radar detection on things like icebergs is way ahead of the original.

Probably most of us harbor just a bit of superstition. I declined to get into a small Lake Chapala fishing boat named "Poseidon". No thanks.

The quality of the steel used in the building will be of better quality this time around I´m sure. Problems these cruise ships seem to have today are located in food born bacterias and the engine rooms.

It´s an expensive novelty. Lots of people will want to go on the first crossing. How many will spend big bucks to go on the 100th one?

Typical non-engineer.

Leftist idiots (eg.-journalists) demand psycho-therapy and assurances of perfect safety from a ship builder.

Life is dangerous.

How much do you like courgettes, the green vegetable Americans call zucchini? According to one Facebook page devoted to them, hundreds of people find them delightful enough to click the "like" button – even with dozens of other pages about courgettes to choose from. There´s just one problem: the liking was fake, done by a team of low-paid workers in Dhaka, Bangladesh, whose boss demanded just $15 per thousand "likes" at his "click farm". Workers punching the keys might be on a three-shift system, and be paid as little as $120 a year.

Documents obtained by Cause of Action through a Freedom of Information Act request indicate Obama considered attending the rollout of GreenTech Automotive’s first electric car. McAuliffe was the chairman of the company, but quietly resigned in December 2012. GreenTech is currently embroiled in a scandal over the company’s EB-5 visas. I think he’s going to end up not running, but if his favorables stay this high, maybe he has no choice. He’s technically “next in line” and he’d make a decent compromise candidate (as would fellow Wisconsinite Scott Walker) for righties who are leery of Christie, Paul, and Rubio for various reasons. Second look at Paul Ryan? Are Ryan’s numbers really that surprising? He’s been overlooked on blogs lately because we’ve all been busy shaking our fists at Rubio over immigration and gawking at the Rand Paul/Chris Christie brawl, but thanks to 2012, Ryan’s name recognition is sky high.

Climatologists at Stanford Woods Institute for the Environment have warned the likely rate of change over the next century will be at least 10 times quicker than any climate shift since the dinosaurs became extinct. If the trend continues at its current rapid pace, it will place significant stress on terrestrial ecosystems around the world, and many species will need to make behavioral, evolutionary or geographic adaptations to survive, they said.

You don´t have to be gay or even Russian to feel the wrath of the Russian government´s homophobia. You could go to jail if you are "pro-gay," whatever that means. And that´s under just one of a growing number of hate-infused bills becoming law at a time when, as it happens, Russia is preparing to host the world in the next Winter Olympics. The perverse anti-gay legislation is inflaming an atmosphere of persistent intimidation and at times deadly violence against Russian gays and lesbians. After purchasing the Boston Globe in 1993 for a then-record $1.1 billion, the financially troubled New York Times just announced it sold the 141 year-old paper to Boston Red Sox owner John Henry for a mere $70 million. That´s a straight 93% loss. Figuring in two decades of inflation would only make it worse -- as does the fact the Times retains the Globe´s pension liabilities, estimated at over $100 million. (snip) What might have sweetened the lower offer for the Times is that Henry offered a straight cash deal, which is expected to close sometime in September or October.
