McCain and Graham praise
Obama on immigration

Associated Press, by Erica Werner

Two leading Republican senators pushing changes to the nation´s immigration laws have met with President Barack Obama and say they´re convinced of his commitment to signing comprehensive immigration legislation. The praise from Sens. John McCain of Arizona and Lindsey Graham of South Carolina comes even though some other Republicans say Obama just wants to pursue immigration as a political issue to get Latino support and isn´t truly committed to a bill. Speaking to reporters after meeting with the president Tuesday at the White House, McCain and Graham said they believe Obama understands the need for strong border-security measures.

Comments:
Hey why not? Confirm Hagel and Kerry, raise our taxes, praise Obama. Next, cave on sequester!

I´ve never thought of Obama as a smart person, only well protected by the media. But when he is in the same room with these two doofuses, he is obviously the smartest person in the room. You can always count on McCain and Graham to give way on any conservative principle or constitutional rights. Arizona and SC must be very proud of your senators. You might as well elect a democrat next time -- there would be no difference

The Obama administration is dropping some new hints about how it has moved money around to fund Obamacare without Congress — but not nearly enough to put the controversy to rest.Forced to reveal more details under a provision tucked in this year’s bipartisan budget deal, the Department of Health and Human Services declared Friday how it used Secretary Kathleen Sebelius’s authority to move about $1.6 billion in departmental funds around last year — the Cabinet secretary’s version of looking for change under the couch cushions and hitting the jackpot. But HHS didn’t say exactly how it spent the money, and

Via Matt Lewis, here’s Maverick once again demonstrating that “cordial relationship” in politico-speak means “two people who can’t publicly admit to hating each other but obviously do.” And it’s a cheap shot. Cruz’s point yesterday at CPAC was that Dole, McCain, and Romney lost because they weren’t conservative enough. That’s not because they’re gutless — he said specifically that they were “good” and “decent” men — but because they’re not committed, full-throated ideologues, even less so when they’re fighting for purple states in a national election. We can debate whether that’s true but there’s nothing offensive in raising the subject.

What’s been said of confession — that it is good for one’s soul but bad for one’s reputation — can also be true of testifying to Congress, so Lois Lerner has chosen to stay silent. Hers, however, is an eloquent silence. The most intrusive and potentially most punitive federal agency has been politicized; the IRS has become an appendage of Barack Obama’s party. Furthermore, congruent with exhortations from some congressional Democrats, it is intensifying its efforts to suffocate groups critical of progressives, by delaying what once was the swift, routine granting of tax-exempt status. One of the most seismic changes in American politics over the last decade has been the emergence of a sharp generational split among the electorate. The Democratic Party owes its success in the last two presidential elections almost entirely to overwhelming support among the very young, which has overcome continued conservatism among older voters. The Pew Research Institute has dominated the field of exploring the ideological cleavages among different generations. And its latest survey shows again how the liberalism of the youngest voting cohort, millennials, remains firm, and likely to continue to recast the electorate. A few charts from the survey
