| House Republican leaders returned to Washington in attack mode on Monday, accusing President Obama of being a “road show president” days before automatic spending cuts are set to take effect. “The president proposed the sequester, yet he’s far more interested in holding campaign rallies than he is in urging Senate Democrats to actually pass a plan,” Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) said in a brief Capitol news conference with the House GOP leadership team. Obama is scheduled to travel to Virginia on Tuesday to rally public support for his approach to replacing the $85 billion in sequestration cuts, but Republicans

Quote POTUS, again and again and again. Cite Woodward, and others, who credit BO with The Sequester scheme. Then use BO´s words again.
Put it simply. The uninformed will not ever know the truth without it being stated clearly and often.
The hour is late, but the time is now. No more futzing around.

Regardless of the issue, the GOP´s most effective tactic at this point may just be laughter and public ridicule. Point out publicly what all of us know. He´ll come unglued eventually and lose it. It will be fun to watch.

Williamson, W.Va.- The man suspected of killing a West Virginia sheriff as he ate lunch in his car was mentally disturbed and had no particular vendetta with law enforcement, his father told The Associated Press on Thursday. Melvin Maynard said his 37-year-old son, Tennis Melvin Maynard, was exposed to harmful chemicals and injured while working at an Alabama coal mine. He most likely did not target Mingo County Sheriff Eugene Crum, he said. "He would have probably shot anybody, the first one he come to, you know what I´m saying?" the elder Maynard said. "I know he was off."

Two men and two women have been arrested in the case in the southern city of Maastricht. Prosecution spokeswoman Cindy Reijnders said Monday the tip came last week, but there´s no indication that any sarin was about to be used in a terror attack. One suspect was arrested Friday as he was about to start digging in a field near Maastricht. Police dug up 400-square

The Dow Jones and Standard & Poor’s 500 indexes reached record highs on Thursday, having completely erased the losses since the stock market’s last peak, in 2007. But instead of cheering, we should be very afraid. Over the last 13 years, the stock market has twice crashed and touched off a recession: American households lost $5 trillion in the 2000 dot-com bust and more than $7 trillion in the 2007 housing crash. Sooner or later — within a few years, I predict — this latest Wall Street bubble, inflated by an egregious flood of phony money from the Federal

The unemployment rate, because of a terrible statistic, is down to 7.6%. The number of people in this country who are not working is shameful. Ninety million Americans are no longer in the workforce. Ninety million. People not in the labor force grew by 663,000, and now 90 million. That´s the labor force participation rate. This is 1979 levels.

President Obama´s biggest gaffe yesterday when speaking of California Attorney General Kamala Harris was not in flirtatiously complimenting her as "the best-looking attorney general," but in introducing an observation from the system of beauty into a forum that was about the system of power. What´s that, you say? Irin Carmon does a great job in Salon in laying out the bounds of propriety for when it´s appropriate to talk about a woman´s looks as a general matter. But I´ve long felt we lack a solid theoretical underpinning for easily discussing these issues, and why precisely it is that

No one is more preoccupied these days with Hillary Clinton´s 2016 plans than the Beltway political class—not even the former presidential candidate herself. To hear some tell it, her decision will be dispositive for all other Democrats thinking of entering the race. And pundits and reporters aren´t the only ones positing the "The Hillary Factor": No less than the House Democratic whip, Steny Hoyer, told BuzzFeed, “I don´t know that anybody would run against Hillary…. If she runs, she clears the field.” It´s an understandable conclusion, given Clinton´s stature in the Democratic Party and her 70 percent

They´re starting to grow out, get a little irritating.´ Still, she hasn´t let her hairdo woes get her down. ´It´s okay,´ she said after her initial complaint. ´We´ll be good.´ The first indication that her hairstyle was becoming a burden came about last weekend, when Malia, 14, was spotted adjusting her mother´s hair during the White House Easter Egg Roll.
