Michelle Obama’s Oscar cameo was pointless and bizarre

| It was a better than average Oscar show last night. Host Seth MacFarlane came under fire for some less than tasteful jokes, but there were also a few terrific highlights. A great night for Bond fans, with wonderful performances from Dame Shirley Bassey (Goldfinger) and Adele (Skyfall), with Adele winning Best Original Song. Unusually there were no excruciating acceptance speeches, which were kept remarkably brief and politics free. The main awards were spread across several powerful films in a very strong year for movies. Daniel Day-Lewis was a thoroughly deserving winner for Best Actor for his portrayal of Abraham Lincoln

Pointless and bizarre, absolutely. But, "Argo"? Puhleeze, pure Hollywood revisionist history - with Jimmah Carter as advisor.

Why are we surprised? It was to rile conservatives and most didn´t watch.
I think award shows are stupid and until Weinstein drops dead completely rigged.
Send the awards in the mail!

Look for her to be everywhere. Friday on Jimmy Fallon, Sunday the Oscars, tomorrow who knows where she´ll pop up. I wouldn´t be surprised to see her doing tv commercials. It´s part of the 2014 campaign to get the moron vote to the polls.

She believes all of the flattering nonsense that is written about her. She´s been told that she´s "a dazzling, fashion forward First Lady!" She thinks that she has star quality & I would bet she thinks she has a career in the movies just for the asking.

The Obamas were probably hoping for the movie Lincoln to win, and if that had happened, you can bet that Barack Obama would have made his entrance with a canned speech.
That did not happen, but you have to wonder what would the Obamas have done if the clearly blackballed and not politically correct movie Zero Dark Thirty with it´s water-boarding connotations won the Oscar for best picture?
Of course surprises like that only happen in the movies, and not the always politically correct Oscars.

Every year I get together with some gals from my prayer group to watch the Oscars. Even though most of what Hollywood produces is garbage, it´s fun to see the dresses and gewgaws. We have been praying that Zero Dark 30 would win, so you can imagine our surprise and disgust when the Ultimate Welfcare Queen appeared on the tv pimping out that terrible Ben Affleck movie! Who does she think she is? Why does she think she is relevant in anyway? You would never see Barbara Bush (or any other decent Christian woman) behaving in such a self aggrandizing way. And who paid for that performance??? We taxpayers, that´s who! After Moochie appeared I became physically ill and couldnt watch anymore of the awards. I will never forgive Mrs. Obamantichrist for ruining my evening . She is an abomination.

Zero Dark Thirty has been blacklisted. There was no chance it would win Best Picture. (In fact, it didn´t win anything) Obama gave the director access thinking the film would feature him as the "man who got Bin Laden." Instead, it showed that important information had been gleaned through "torture." The only reference to Obama was an ironic moment where the film showed a clip of him saying "we don´t use torture." Despite an Oscar-worthy performance by Jessica Chastain, masterful direction of the scenes depicting the Navy Seals operation, and early reviews calling the movie the best of the year (many pointing out it was better than Argo), the Academy got the word that ZDT was radioactive. And they obeyed.

Bill Clinton did the Golden Globes and so the Obamas had to do the Oscars. We will have a non-stop ring-side seat to the ´Battle of the Narcissists´.
Remember when presidents spent their time governing, and then when they left office, they retired from the national stage except for rare appearances? We have Jimmy Carter to thank for this new trend.

Haven´t tuned in for quite a few years, but decided to watch this year to see Seth MacFarlane and for the Bond tributes! Alas, the 5 Bond´s never showed up as promised, although I thought Seth did a good job and the show was pleasantly entertaining. That is, until the end when they pivoted to the White House....I abruptly changed the channel in disgust, only to find out that by the time I changed it back I had completely missed the Best Picture announcement itself. Oh well...thankfully they "saved" it for the end of the show.

One thing was wrong in the article. Michelle Obama did not look one bit embarrassed to be awarding the Best Picture Oscar.
She may, however, have been a bit chagrined that it wasn´t for "Lincoln," a president whom Obama seems to claim as his inspiration.
Instead, it was for a movie about Americans being rescued from Islamic maniacs, something her husband failed to do in Benghazi.

A senior Eurocrat sparked outrage last night after calling for the phrase “illegal immigrant” to be banned from the European Union.[Snip] She has instructed EU Commission staff to refer to foreigners who break border control laws as “irregular migrants” or simply “people” instead. But her attempt to dictate how the issue of immigration is discussed was savaged last night. UK Independence Party leader Nigel Farage said: “Now the EU is even trying to change the language. “This sounds like something straight out of the pages of George Orwell’s Animal Farm. His house, his booze, his drugs, his women and his 17 children were paid for by a benefits system meant to be a safety net for the truly needy.[Snip] This was one of the most horrible crimes committed against children in Britain in recent years. It was cynical. It was calculating. And it was done out of malice in a ham-fisted plot which went wrong. The trial spoke volumes about the sheer nastiness of the individuals involved. But it also lifted the lid on the bleak and often grotesque world of the welfare benefit scroungers--of whom there are not dozens,

A coral reef in Northern Australia severely damaged by warming seas has managed to completely heal itself in just 12 years, stunned researchers have found. The team found that being left alone to breed on its own was key. The discovery raises hope that other damaged reefs could ´regenerate´. The new research shows that an isolated reef off the northwest coast of Australia that was severely damaged by a period of warming in 1998. It was hit by coral bleaching, caused by higher water temperatures that break down the coral´s symbiotic relationship with algae that provide food for coral growth.

North Korea has transported two more missiles to the east coast, Seoul military sources have revealed, triggering speculation that it is ready for an abrupt missile launch. North Korea has loaded two intermediate-range missiles onto mobile launchers and hidden them in an unidentified facility near the east coast, South Korea´s Yonhap news agency has said. "It has been confirmed that North Korea, early this week, transported two Musudan mid-range missiles by train to the east coast and loaded them on vehicles equipped with launch pads," Yonhap quoted the official as saying. The official said the mobile launchers had since

As the US and China grow increasingly involved, Kim Jong-un must be brought into line if war is not to be triggered by an act of recklessness. There are two schools of thought about what lies behind North Korea’s increasingly frenzied posturing. The first goes like this: the rhetoric emanating from Pyongyang--including calls to “break the waists of the crazy enemies [and] totally cut their windpipes”--is no worse than their decades-old ritualistic promises to turn South Korea into a “sea of fire”. What we are witnessing, according to this theory, is nothing more than an inexperienced leader

Anyone who remembers the halcyon dreams of the 1990s, of civil society spreading the world over, heralding a new peaceful, global millennium, must marvel at the path the young 21st century has taken. Even those who paid attention to global Jihad before the millennium could not imagine how vulnerable the West would prove in the coming, wildly asymmetrical war. Those who, over the course of the last 13 years, have awakened to the ever-growing danger of Islamism and to the astonishing inability of decent people--Muslims and non-Muslims--to effectively oppose its aggressions, owe themselves a brief lesson in cognitive warfare, and

The political race many had anticipated would unfold in the 1st congressional district--the national comedian’s sister versus the once-disgraced governor angling for a comeback--is here. Former Gov. Mark Sanford won Tuesday’s GOP runoff over former Charleston County Councilman Curtis Bostic, according to unofficial results. Sanford now faces five more weeks on the campaign trail before a May 7 showdown with Democrat Elizabeth Colbert Busch, whose business background and moderate politics are expected to create a tight contest. Lowcountry voters haven’t elected a Democrat from the 1st District for more than three decades, but Colbert Busch already has shown

The unemployment rate, because of a terrible statistic, is down to 7.6%. The number of people in this country who are not working is shameful. Ninety million Americans are no longer in the workforce. Ninety million. People not in the labor force grew by 663,000, and now 90 million. That´s the labor force participation rate. This is 1979 levels.

President Obama´s biggest gaffe yesterday when speaking of California Attorney General Kamala Harris was not in flirtatiously complimenting her as "the best-looking attorney general," but in introducing an observation from the system of beauty into a forum that was about the system of power. What´s that, you say? Irin Carmon does a great job in Salon in laying out the bounds of propriety for when it´s appropriate to talk about a woman´s looks as a general matter. But I´ve long felt we lack a solid theoretical underpinning for easily discussing these issues, and why precisely it is that

No one is more preoccupied these days with Hillary Clinton´s 2016 plans than the Beltway political class—not even the former presidential candidate herself. To hear some tell it, her decision will be dispositive for all other Democrats thinking of entering the race. If she runs, she clears the field.” It´s an understandable conclusion, given Clinton´s stature in the Democratic Party and her 70 percent

They´re starting to grow out, get a little irritating.´ Still, she hasn´t let her hairdo woes get her down. ´It´s okay,´ she said after her initial complaint. ´We´ll be good.´ The first indication that her hairstyle was becoming a burden came about last weekend, when Malia, 14, was spotted adjusting her mother´s hair during the White House Easter Egg Roll.
