| COLUMBIA—South Carolina’s wildlife agency gathered a team of scientists more than a year ago to study what could happen if temperatures in the state continue to warm, but have never released their report. A draft of the committee’s findings determined that if temperatures rise in the South by 9 degrees as projected by some over the next 70 years, South Carolina would see more beach flooding and invasion of non-native species such as piranha and Asian swamp eels, according to a draft of the report obtained by The State of Columbia. One scientist involved in the initial work on

9 degrees? If the temperature increases 50 degrees 10´s of millions of people all over the planet will die - leading to less pollution, fewer Christians, and proof that Al Gore is not a dingbat. We want more global warming and we want it now.

This is a script from a bad sci-fi movie. Just got mixed up in AP´s in/out box. Move along, just junk science here. I think Jane Fonda is playing the lead role. They needed actors that were near life zombies.

Article does not explain where the 9 degree F, and I am assuming Fahreneit, forecast comes from. Nor does article explain how such an enormous rise happens in one´s life time, 70 years. Since global temps have not risen in 15 years, why would So Carolina be worried?
Appears that this AP article is simply an example of what the AP does best; foster fear to promote a collectivist agenda.

As we all know, every place on earth that is warmer than South Carolina, from Florida to Kuala Lumpur, is a post-apocolyptic valley of death. We know this because the brilliant scientific minds of Democrats inform us that warmth is bad. It´s so bad! So very. very bad!
Democrat "scientists" conduct serious research the same way Democrat "journalists" investigate Obama.

The federal government should start a Swamp Eel Seeding Program to make it happen. Those slithery creatures actually do a great deal of good - - much more than any spotted owl ever has.

The South Carolina shore climate is what it is. There are two "summers" -- the spring and the fall, and then true summer often is what I call the "hell months" where walking on the beach can be intolerable at 8 0 a.m. The low country has a rice paddy climate and the high humidity makes the summer heat feel even hotter.
On the other hand, I can recall summer days on Isle of Palms when the daytime high was 85 degrees and it was 102 degrees in Washington, D.C.

Republican congressional candidate Mark Sanford slammed the 2009 federal stimulus package that went to Clemson University’s wind turbine effort--where Democrat rival Elizabeth Colbert Busch is employed--as bad public policy and a poor return on the taxpayers’ investments. By Sanford’s math and reading of Obama administration stimulus allocation figures, the Wind Turbine Drivetrain Testing Facility received $43 million and “created or saved” an estimated 134 jobs. When divided, the numbers calculate to more than $320,000 per job, Sanford said. Sanford’s comments came during a visit to a Mount Pleasant branch of Lyerly’s Cleaners, where he carried in a load

A coral reef in Northern Australia severely damaged by warming seas has managed to completely heal itself in just 12 years, stunned researchers have found. The team found that being left alone to breed on its own was key. The discovery raises hope that other damaged reefs could ´regenerate´. The new research shows that an isolated reef off the northwest coast of Australia that was severely damaged by a period of warming in 1998. It was hit by coral bleaching, caused by higher water temperatures that break down the coral´s symbiotic relationship with algae that provide food for coral growth.

As the US and China grow increasingly involved, Kim Jong-un must be brought into line if war is not to be triggered by an act of recklessness. There are two schools of thought about what lies behind North Korea’s increasingly frenzied posturing. The first goes like this: the rhetoric emanating from Pyongyang--including calls to “break the waists of the crazy enemies [and] totally cut their windpipes”--is no worse than their decades-old ritualistic promises to turn South Korea into a “sea of fire”. What we are witnessing, according to this theory, is nothing more than an inexperienced leader

Anyone who remembers the halcyon dreams of the 1990s, of civil society spreading the world over, heralding a new peaceful, global millennium, must marvel at the path the young 21st century has taken. Even those who paid attention to global Jihad before the millennium could not imagine how vulnerable the West would prove in the coming, wildly asymmetrical war. Those who, over the course of the last 13 years, have awakened to the ever-growing danger of Islamism and to the astonishing inability of decent people--Muslims and non-Muslims--to effectively oppose its aggressions, owe themselves a brief lesson in cognitive warfare, and

Recent research indicates that the number of people who do not consider themselves a part of an organized religion is steadily on the rise. Interestingly enough, though the number of those religiously unaffiliated is increasing, there is little to no trend in the number of those who express atheist or agnostic beliefs. People aren’t saying they don’t believe in God. They’re saying they don’t believe in religion. They are not rejecting Christ. They are rejecting the church. This begs the question, “Why are we losing our religion?”

Put out an all-points bulletin: Millions of Americans have gone missing from the workforce. Every month that those would-be workers are gone raises the odds that they might never come back, dimming the prospects for future economic growth. The vanishing trend is more than a decade old, but it accelerated during the Great Recession. Throughout 2012, economists held out hope that it had stopped. But then came Friday’s jobs report, and hopes were dashed. The Labor Department reported that the U.S. labor force — everyone who has a job or is looking for one — shrank
