LOS ANGELES - U.S. first lady Michelle Obama made a surprise and unprecedented appearance on Sunday´s Oscars telecast when she presented the award for Best Picture, the first time a president or first lady has ever presented an Academy Award. Appearing live on screen from the White House in Washington, almost 3,000 miles from the Oscars ceremony in Hollywood, Obama praised the work of the movie industry before announcing the Iran hostage drama "Argo" the Best Picture winner. Wearing a silver evening dress, Obama said this year´s nominated films had "made us laugh, made us weep and grip

No dignity. Just a constant campaign for the superficial masses. This is a symptom of a sick, sick country.

It would have been a great time for one of the EBS tests we all hate. Beeeeeeeeeeep. What a classless piece of leftist trash. Hey, Michelle, the election is over, you can stop pandering. And did you notice the placement of military personnel behind her? Oh, please! Pathetic. Guess they all drew the short straws. God, make it stop.

Her Jimmy Fallon appearance was apparently just a warm-up. The Obama´s are lathered with narcissism. I´ve never seen the like.

Too bad, the show was really quite classy this year...up to that moment.
Glad Argo won. Americans saving Americans.

Ms. Laura Bush did what she could to improve the lives of women who truly struggle, those in Africa and Afghanistan. The Hollywood whores would never give her the time of day. Of course, I suppose we should simply see this for what it is - an implicit Oscar for one of the best acting jobs ever. Tonight Michelle Obama will play the part of a first lady who loves her country and wants to see it succeed.

Just a bunch of liberal Democrats slapping each other on the back. That so-called academy is supposed to be a private organization with the presenters always being members of the academy, and when they get up to the big time Oscars have always had previous Oscar winners do the presenting.

Mrs Obama is not a member of the academy and certainly has never been awarded an Oscar, so her appearance was totally political, with the worst part being that she used a number of US military officers attired in their dress uniforms as stage props behind her.

Cool people, Oscar presenters versus the evil Republicans who deny you condoms, steal your money, put your daddy out of a job and sell your remains to the knackers yard. The campaign to get the low information voter to turn out for an off year election is under way.

No. 13 is right. I have a SIL who watches this award stuff religiously. She would find an appearance by Michelle "Sooo cool! She really understand the American people!" This just endears the BO´s all the more to voters. I also wouldn´t discount MO, at some point, having her own TV/movie career. Now that Oprah has "retired" MO could step into her wide shoes. I´ve been boycotting Hollywood for years - I can´t stand theaters, their questionable cleanliness & the smell of burnt popcorn. I also don´t like repulsive people (the stars!) cussing at me from the big screen. It is mind-boggling to me that movie-goers actually PAY for this abuse!

Surely, some kind of ending is upon us. Last week climate protesters demanded the silencing of Charles Krauthammer for a Washington Post column that notices uncertainties in the global warming hypothesis. In coming weeks a libel trial gets under way brought by Penn State´s Michael Mann, author of the famed hockey stick, against National Review, the Competitive Enterprise Institute, writer Rand Simberg and roving commentator Mark Steyn for making wisecracks about his climate work.
