Many cancer deaths traced to alcohol
Fox News, by Carl Nierenberg

Original Article

Posted By:ruready?, 2/24/2013 8:14:59 AM

Alcohol use accounted for roughly 3.5 percent of all cancer deaths in the United States in 2009, a new study finds. This amounts to nearly 20,000 Americans who lost their lives to cancer that year as a result of drinking.[snip]"Alcohol is a known cancer-causing agent in humans, but it has been severely overlooked as a preventable cause of cancer deaths," said study co-author Timothy Naimi, a physician and alcohol researcher at Boston University Medical Center. "People need to know the impact of alcohol on cancer deaths because it´s another reason why they should not drink excessively."

I´m with #1. It´s always "It´s for your own good, you´re just too stupid to know it"

BTW, anybody ever get annoyed at the stupid seat belt buzzer in your car. Can´t get in the car without the thing banging. I use my late model Honda SUV to drive around my private property, neighbors´ property, dirt roads, 3 MPH, and the seat belt alarm is banging. "It´s for your own good. Buckle up ..."

What were the controls on this study? Did these people ONLY drink alcohol and come in contact with nothing else? Maybe it was cocktail peanuts or the olives or the coke in the Cuba Libre or the hot sauce in the Bloody Mary that did it. I know: it was tiny umbrella poisoning!

Wonder if they will ever delve into marijuana and a link to breast cancer? Naw, too popular.

I think this study is amusing because the first public miracle recorded was Jesus turning water into some really fine wine at a wedding. There was also another passage mentioning a glass of wine helping digestion with a meal. So I take a study like this with the teensiest grain of salt.

How would you describe 3.5% of something? If four out of five dentists recommend Trident gum, that´s "most" dentists. Three out of five would be "a majority" of dentists, and two out of five might be "many" dentists. But 3.5%? That´s less than four out of a hundred. I would describe that as "very few" or "almost no" cancer deaths linked to alcohol.

Bottoms up, my friends.

I like to know what I´m putting in my body and its effect. The problem frequently is that we are not given enough information about how the study was conducted to determine if it is relative to our personal life. For months, local and national news have been pushing flu vaccines especially for the "elderly". But now we are told these same vaccines are only 9% effective for the "elderly". The second I read or hear the word "study" I begin to doubt what comes next.

This study is a disgrace to the scientific community. There are also many anger-related deaths in people who do not consume alcohol. If so, can one claim that not drinking alcohol causes cancer?

If stopping the use of high potency chemical drug therapy were replaced with so many different natural methods available of getting the body in a PH alkaline balance, I bet the cancer death rate would go down tremendously. But, then also would the profits of the big Pharmas.

Why is it that all of these studies can tell you what causes cancer, but we are light years from a cure ?

I´m going to start with three data points. One: Some of the Chinese military hackers who were implicated in a broad set of attacks against the U.S. government and corporations were identified because they accessed Facebook from the same network infrastructure they used to carry out their attacks. Two: Hector Monsegur, one of the leaders of the LulzSac hacker movement, was identified and arrested last year by the FBI. BUDAPEST, HUNGARY – Thousands attended an anti-Nazi rally Sunday in Hungary organized by Jewish and civic groups to protest a far-right lawmaker´s call to screen Jews for national security risks. The rally was unusual because politicians from both the government and opposition parties shared a stage outside parliament. Marton Gyongyosi of the far-right Jobbik party said Monday in the legislature it was time "to assess ... how many people of Jewish origin there are here, and especially in the Hungarian parliament and the Hungarian government, who represent a certain national security risk."

For men, the opposite occurred. The share voicing this opinion dropped, from 35 percent to 29 percent.

Beginning a week of high pressure on gun control, the White House on Monday accused some Republican senators of cowardice for planning to filibuster gun legislation without allowing the full Senate to vote on President Obama’s initiatives. “If they oppose this legislation, have the courage to say so on the floor and vote no,” said White House press secretary Jay Carney. “Don’t block it. Don’t hide behind a procedural action to prevent a vote. That’s the wrong thing to do, and that’s how the president clearly feels.”
