Court won´t reconsider Ill.
concealed carry ruling

Associated Press, by Staff

CHICAGO — A federal appeals court won´t reconsider an earlier ruling that Illinois´ concealed carry ban is unconstitutional. A three-judge panel of the 7th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals struck down Illinois´ ban in December and gave lawmakers until June 8 to legalize the concealed carry of firearms. Attorney General Lisa Madigan asked for all 10 judges to review the decision, saying it conflicted with decisions by other federal appellate courts and goes beyond what the U.S. Supreme Court has held. Illinois is the only state in the nation that still has a ban in place.

Comments:
Big win for the Second Amendment in Illinois today.

Of course, as the City of Chicago did, watch the state put all sorts of obstacles in front of law-abiding citizens who wish practice their Second Amendment protected rights. My guess is they will try to enact something akin to New York´s oppressive "proper cause" requirement - where the individual has to PROVE they have a right to carry. (Hopefully, SCOTUS will take on the and Circuit´s opinion in Kachalsky and end this nonsense once and for all.)

Looks like IL is wanting a ´violation of rights under color of law´ lawsuit. Whomever files could get wealthy - or at least their lawyers. McDonald vs Chicago pretty much removed any doubt the 2nd applies to the states - not that anyone other than libtards thought otherwise - and ´shall not be infringed´ doesn´t say anything about ´unless it´s concealed´. These so-called jurists (and their law clerks) better get up to speed on what infringed meant in 1770´s.

#2, the battle shifts to the IL General Assembly where the Pro-2nd Amendment forces will try to block the anti´s "may issue" laws so that they are forced to pass a reasonable CCW Bill or have VT Carry imposed on them.

Unless Lisa feels lucky and appeals to the SCOTUS, of course.

#5 - I hope you are right and they are able to make a fair shall-issue law and recognize permits from other states.

I have seen so much anti-gun stuff in Illinois that I am skeptical, but I sure hope that things are changing in Illinois. That would be wonderful.

Sheriffs: Cuomo Asked for Silence

The sheriffs thought they were being summoned to the Capitol to discuss ideas for changes to New York´s gun control law, the SAFE Act. Instead, Gov. Andrew Cuomo told them to keep quiet. Opposition to the new law has simmered in upstate areas since Cuomo signed the law in January. Many county sheriffs oppose it, particularly its expanded definition of banned assault weapons, and have spoken out around the state. In January, the New York State Sheriffs´ Association wrote Cuomo with an analysis, and later suggested tweaks.

AMHERST, N.Y. - An Amherst man who had his guns taken away by the state is speaking out after the state admitted it made a mistake by suspending his pistol permit. David Lewis is the man State Police deemed so mentally ill he was unfit to own a gun. They recommended to a state judge that the 34-year-old librarian´s pistol permit be suspended and the judge signed the order. (*SNIP*) Tresmond also claims State Police have lined up a special unit to circumvent federal HIPAA laws to pry into gun owners´ medical records, which State Police deny.

AMHERST, N.Y. - State Police forced an Amherst man to turn in his guns after suspending his pistol permit over anti-anxiety medication. But now they say it was all a misunderstanding. Erie County Clerk Chris Jacobs said, "Today, we all look like fools." "David," a 34-year-old college librarian, recently had his pistol permit taken away. Erie County´s Licensing Officer, Supreme Court Justice William Boller, was following a recommendation from State Police that David´s permit be revoked because he used anti-anxiety medication in the past.

An orderly protest over the death of an armed 16-year-old turned into a riot in Brooklyn tonight after young people started lashing out at NYPD officers. Between 60 and 100 rioters gathered around Church and Snyder Ave. in East Flatbush and threw bottles and other debris at police, witnesses said, following a vigil for Kimani Gray, 16, who was shot dead by two plainclothes officers over the weekend. One person has been arrested, though no injuries have been reported. They were lashing out at the NYPD, who they believe are responsible for the teen’s death.

ROCHESTER — Starting April 15, New York will have the smallest gun magazine limit in the country, and all signs indicate no gun makers have plans to accommodate it. Gun manufacturers have never had a reason to make a magazine with fewer than 10 rounds, because no state required it until now. And, as far as local gun dealers and the Democrat and Chronicle have been able to determine, there are no manufacturers planning to make seven-round magazines. This means that in less than two months, gun dealers such as Paul Martin, owner of Pro-Gun Services in Victor…

The Muslim parents assert that the flyers – emblazoned with the word “Eggstravaganza!” – violate the separation of church and state widely ascribed to the First Amendment’s Establishment Clause, reports the Detroit Free Press. Students at three Dearborn elementary schools received the flyers. A large number of Muslim students attend the schools. The “Eggstravaganza!” is scheduled to take place on April 12 event at Cherry Hill Presbyterian Church

A triumphant President Barack Obama declared Tuesday his signature medical insurance overhaul a success, saying it has made America´s health care system ´a lot better´ in a Rose Garden press conference. But buried in the 7.1 million enrollments he announced in a heavily staged appearance is a more unsettling reality. Numbers from a RAND Corporation study that has been kept under wraps suggest that barely 858,000 previously uninsured Americans – nowhere near 7.1 million – have paid for new policies and joined the ranks of the insured by Monday night.

Former GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney has sworn off running again for elected office, but Americans have certainly heard that one before. Speculation that Romney might run again has largely been stoked by the reunion he planned to host last month in Park City, Utah, for members of his 2012 campaign and debate team and a string of recent public appearances. He has appeared on TV news shows 12 times in the past six months. That’s essentially on pace with Michigan GOP Rep. Mike Rogers, who led all national politicians last year with 26 appearances over 12 months. Romney has

The president gave two speeches this week, one in the Rose Garden to talk about Obamacare and one in Ann Arbor, Mich., to push minimum wage increases. What did we learn? We learned that President Obama is most comfortable in campaign mode, and his campaigning has gotten downright ugly. His Rose Garden speech was a typical self-congratulatory moment for supposedly hitting 7.1 million Obamacare sign-ups — although we know that once again, the White House is ignoring some inconvenient truths. We also learned that the president was vain enough to asked the networks to cover his speech in prime time, but
