The Case for Carson
American Thinker, by Bruce Walker

Original Article

Posted By:KarenJ1, 2/21/2013 8:17:00 AM

The buzz surrounding Dr. Ben Carson is loud and growing...but is it merited? The Republican Party has been looking for its "Great Black Hope" since J.C. Watts almost twenty years ago. There are solid logical reasons why black America ought to reject the slavery of leftism: violent crime, social decay, broken educational systems, and limp economic growth all hurt blacks more than they hurt other Americans. The black conservative movement has produced some significant spokesmen: Dr. Thomas Sowell may be the greatest social historian alive; Lynn Swan is among the greatest pass receivers in football history;

The huge enthusiasm highlights once again that the politicians we have now in Washington, with the exception of a very few, are just self-serving political hacks. Because he is a man who is so honest and of such high integrity it shows how far we have fallen because he is such a huge contrast when that should be the norm.

No wonder we´re taken lightly by voters. We´re not serious about truly serious stuff. I like Dr. Carson. I like the things he says. But we have many inspirational and effective speakers. Few want or are prepared for elective office. I love Dr. Sowell and Walter Williams. However, on the far side of those good and sensible ones, we had Alan Keyes and Herman Cain. I don´t think many would consider either of those two capable of handling the duties of the Oval Office. Listen to Dr. Carson, enjoy him, but stop the silliness of touting him for our next national nominee.

Sorry...you can call me whatever you want, but my observations over the years have led me to believe that many blacks are satisfied to live in those conditions...unless of course there´s some person or program that will move them out of it without them having to expend any effort. Face it, a lot of these people have zero interest in lifting themselves out of "the slavery of leftism".
IMO, that´s been the plan ever since LBJ began that wonderful Great Society BS.

I am more than ready for someone I can trust in the White House.

What would this person be like?

First, he/she would have enough brains and judgment to surround himself/herself with excellent and knowledgeable advisers.

Second, he/she would be able to inspire the American people, and help them come together and see worth in each other again.

Third (most important actually), he/she would be a person with a profound respect and awe of the Deity...someone with Hope of Heaven and Fear of Hell...someone with a strong, inner conscience backed by a religion that respects all of God´s people.

The problem is .... Ben Carson does not have a dialed in, batte, tested, professional, hard core Political Network.

You can´t win at this level without a team. The man himself may be top drawer and best in class but without the team and the network, you;re screwed.

12, He will have one if he chooses to run.

And many are missing the point here: Ben Carson is the ANTIDOTE to what we have now. It is precisely because he is NOT a career politician that we need him, imho...We shall see how he handles himself and the media and the attack dogs. So far, so good.

With all that said, if he does not run, he certainly would be a great speaker for the principles on which we agree.

P.S. all rights reserved to withdraw my support pending any problems unearthed in further vetting and investigations of Dr. Carson.

I like Carson and would of course vote for him. But our cause cannot be advanced by any political messiah. Political messiahs are the stock in trad of the revolutionary left. They appeal to people who are "slaves on the inside," people who think all of their problems are the fault of other people. Democrats. The political messiah will save them from these other people. Even when he doesn´t they still cling to him.

The only cure to the problem of slavery of the heart and mind is the Gospel. People must recognize their own sin, their own guilt, and then repent and turn to Jesus. They then must continue to grow in grace under sound teaching, something they don´t get in most churches today. Only such people can understand that it´s between them andd God, not between them and other people. This is the foundtion for "freedom on the inside" which then translates to freedom on the outside. So what needs to happen is a change in Church doctrine to get people to focus on their responsibility to God and his provision rather than a social gospel that focuses on how other people have to be forced to change.

President Barack Obama´s healthcare law may have been responsible for pushing whites to vote Republican and polarizing the country at historic levels, according to a new Gallup analysis. On the four-year anniversary of Obamacare, the implication of the Gallup study is that Obama´s policies--not his race or personality--have been the impetus for the increasing level of racial polarization. The Gallup study found that in 2010, "nonwhites´ net party identification and leanings showed a 49-point Democratic advantage, and whites were 12 percentage points more Republican than Democratic."
