| John McCain was excited. It was late January, and the following day, he and a group of bipartisan senators were set to announce their framework for comprehensive immigration reform. He picked up the phone and called an old friend in Arizona. “We got it yep, yep,” McCain said, according to Grant Woods, who detected a long-lost measure of energy in the Republican’s voice. The next morning McCain called Woods again: “We’re going over there,” the senior senator from Arizona said, referring to the Capitol Hill unveiling. “It’s going to be good.” His optimism was warranted. The bipartisan effort was

He´s going to be running against Mr. Gabby Giffords/Kelly.
If we don´t get a great candidate to primary him, we are going to lose that seat.

I´d just like the real John McCain to be real gone.
I´m sick of his playing both sides against the middle schtick.

We´ve got Dim politicians here in S. New Mexico that go to rallies in support of criminal aliens. If only they would spend as much time and energy supporting American citizens, who they were elected to represent. The left doesn´t want us to call them "illegal aliens." They are CRIMINAL aliens. They broke the law coming here, and commit other criminal acts to work and live here. People who commit a pattern of crimes to remain in the criminal underground are called Career Criminals.

Arizona had over 1000 kidnappings last year related to illegal alien trafficing. There are large areas of the state where it is not safe to travel - because of illegals. Gang and drug violence have exploaded.
So, why would the citizes of Arizona oppose an open border?

How stupid does McCain think repubs are. It´s only bipartisan when the repubs side with the dems. The dems never side with repub ideas. I hope he is targeted by the tea party in his next primary.

The immigration reform idea is the bright idea of McCain and Graham and they talked Rubio into carrying their bucket of water. Those two are also glued at the hip to Kelly Ayotte--a big minus in my estimation for her career. McCain and Graham owe a huge apology to the fantastic new Senator from Texas, Ted Cruz. I was wondering which Senator had told Cruz he didn´t want to hear Gov. Palin´s name mentioned--couldn´t be any other than McCain. IMO that is one of the reasons the two are trying to push Ayotte so hard. McCain is jealous. It showed during the 2008 campaign--he could hardly get over a couple of hundred at his "townhalls" while Palin was drawing crowds of 20, 30,000 upwards at her rallies. After his suspension of campaign he never did a single/by himself townhall again and basked in the glory (he thought they were in attendance for him) of the multitudes at the rallies. McCain was a "hold my nose to vote" as was Romney. The only reason he was not totally crushed by the freebie takers was because of Gov. Palin.

Some Republicans still cling to the hope that they´ll be able to repeal Obamacare someday, but a report released Wednesday by Families USA shows why it may be even harder for them to do so after Jan. 1. The report estimates that nearly 3 million Californians could be eligible for generous insurance subsidies under the 2010 healthcare reform law, starting next year. Anyone with an income between one and four times the federal poverty line -- in other words, between $23,550 and $94,200 for a family of four -- could receive a tax credit that reduces monthly premiums dramatically.

TRENTON — Talk about an odd couple. Liberal media mogul Arianna Huffington is bringing GOP star Gov. Chris Christie to the White House Correspondents´ dinner later this month. The governor will feel at home with the Huffington Post founder´s other guests: New Jersey natives Jon Bon Jovi of Sayreville and Shaquille O´Neal of Newark, according to Women´s Wear Daily, which first reported the invites. Shaq recently visited Christie at the Statehouse in Trenton. Christie was one half of an unusual pairing last year, too, when he made headlines for sitting next to bombshell "Modern Family" actress Sofia Vegara.

NORFOLK, Va.— A top general says federal budget cuts that will ground one-third of the U.S. Air Force´s active-duty force of combat planes including fighters and bombers means "accepting the risk that combat airpower may not be ready to respond immediately to new contingencies as they occur."Gen. Mike Hostage, commander of Air Combat Command at Joint Base Langley-Eustis in Virginia, issued the warning Tuesday as the Pentagon braces for more effects of the automatic spending cuts triggered by the lack of a budget agreement in Washington. I don´t mean in a Nazis vs Communists, Hitler vs Stalin, way. I mean in a moderate way: Conservative activists vs Labour activists, you might say. It´s difficult to imagine Conservative activists behaving like the people who celebrated Margaret Thatcher´s death in Glasgow and Brixton. That´s partly because it´s hard to think of any Left-wing leader who had as powerful an effect on the country as she did. But, still, between them, Harold Wilson and Jim Callaghan – with quite a lot of help from Edward Heath – led to a disastrous decline in British fortunes in the 1970s,

House Republican leaders on Wednesday criticized President Obama for conditioning the entitlement reforms in his budget on GOP support for higher taxes. While they said Obama “deserves some credit” for including entitlement reforms in his spending blueprint, they said the president shouldn’t hold the plan “hostage” in the debate over tax revenues. “While the president has backtracked on some of his entitlement reforms that were in conversations that we had a year and a half ago, he does deserve some credit for come incremental entitlement reforms that he has outlined in his budget,” Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) told reporters Wednesday

The U.S. Postal Service on Wednesday said it will delay a cost-cutting plan to end Saturday mail delivery, following congressional action that blocked the effort. Congress passed a temporary federal spending bill last month including language that prevents the agency -- which lost $15.9 billion last year -- from going to a Monday-to-Friday mail delivery schedule. The agency, which wanted to begin the new schedule Aug. 5, said the decision was made Tuesday by its board of governors. “By including restrictive language in the Continuing Resolution, Congress has prohibited implementation of a new national delivery schedule,”

President Obama´s budget plan would increase taxes by $580 billion over the next decade, but it relies on many proposals that have been repeatedly rejected by Congress. Some were rejected as recently as January, when Congress voted to make permanent a series of tax cuts first enacted under President George W. Bush. Among them, a proposal to limit itemized deductions for high-income families. One new proposal is a 94 cents-a-pack increase in the cigarette tax. The tax would raise an estimated $78 billion over the next decade to pay for early childhood education.

The sequester may have many across the country singing the blues, but for President Obama, it was all about Memphis Soul. Even with the threat of furloughs and government cuts sparked by the sequester, Obama took the time to enjoy a star-studded concert at the White House tonight. The White House celebration of Memphis Soul music in the East Room--which included special guest appearances by Queen Latifah and Justin Timberlake--is likely to rile Obama´s Republican foes. Some conservatives have called on Obama to give up golf, especially since popular public tours of the White House have been canceled because of

In the message he issued along with his budget proposal on Wednesday morning, President Barack Obama said he wants to see 4-year-old children in the United States enrolled in public schools. Obama said America needs to start enrolling 4-year-olds to make sure the children are “better prepared for the demands of the global economy” and to help parents save on "child-care costs." After saying the United States needs to “equip our citizens with the skills and training” to fill jobs in manufacturing, energy and infrastructure, Obama said, “And that has to start at the earliest possible age.”

Obama’s ambitious plans to ban assault weapons and limit magazine capacities are off the table, while the NRA suggested it could support the most likely outcome -- expanded background checks -- as recently as 1999. The NRA claims that the president’s efforts have triggered a fundraising surge and boosted its membership from 4 million to nearly 5 million.

"The politics has been relentless and that continues," Sebelius said. "There was some hope that once the Supreme Court ruled in July, and then once an election occurred there would be a sense that, ´This is the law of the land, let´s get on board, let´s make this work.´"

The state of California is reportedly considering legislation that would force group insurance policies to provide infertility treatment for gay and lesbian couples. Two men who have sex with each other for a year and do not produce a baby would be considered “infertile” under the proposed legislation. So would two women having sex. Since biology does not allow those without a uterus to conceive or those without a penis to impregnate, every year-long gay couple in California would potentially be covered by this new provision of California law.
