Al Gore’s $500 Million Trojan Horse
American Spectator, by Andrew B. Wilson

Finally there is good news on the jobs front for the Obama administration. Al Jazeera, or “Terrorism TV,” as it used to be known for celebrating the three thousand Americans killed on 9/11 and other exploits by Osama bin Laden, announced plans to create some 200 jobs in the United States over the next six months — in its headquarters at the UN in New York, in Washington, D.C., and in bureaus in Detroit, New Orleans, San Francisco, and other cities. “Imagine six or seven years ago, trying to find real estate for Al Jazeera in Washington,” gushed Rob Wheelock,

It simply shows how biased the Press is: I have seen about six interviews with Gore over the past 5 weeks, and almost none touched on Al Jazerra´s horrendous history, and those that did backed off quickly, feeling they had done their journalistic job, I guess. NOBODY mentions Al´s massive Tennessee mansion, lights on 24/7, his private plane, his new home in SanFrancisco or the fact that his big SUV is kept ON while he gives his expensive speeches, lest the a,c. tone down. AND THE WORST OF ALL IS THAT THIS MAN COULD HAVE BEEN OUR PRESIDENT!!!!!!!!!! At least, as he becomes more and more of a MASSIVE joke you hear less, out of embarrassment, about how the election was "stolen."

A Jacksonville, Florida jury has found Michael Dunn guilty of several counts of attempted murder, but hung on the more serious charges of first and second degree murder, and manslaughter. The facts, very briefly: Dunn pulled into a gas station with his fiancé. Black teenagers in a nearby SUV were playing loud rap music. Dunn asked them to turn it down; they refused. Dunn testified in his own defense, something of a rarity in criminal trials, and told the jury that one of the teenagers, Jordan Davis, then pointed a shotgun at him from a window, threatened to kill Dunn,

Insofar as it is a case at all, and not merely a political cudgel, the brief against voter ID is simple. Minorities and the poor, advocates charge, disproportionately lack government-issued identification documents, and, as a result of the allegedly arduous process that is required to obtain them, they may struggle in perpetuity to remedy this. In consequence, laws that make presentation of ID the price of exercising a fundamental right are unacceptable — disenfranchising the marginalized, removing their voices from the public square, and imposing obstacles to their equal enjoyment of constitutional protections. Given America’s difficult record on such issues,

Thousands of people are walking more than a mile over a frozen Lake Superior to reach the caves, which are carved out of sandstone by waves, according to Reuters. Superior is the world´s largest freshwater lake. Polar vortexes have allowed the ice caves to remain open to visitors because the lake has stayed frozen enough to support people walking across it. A student at McGill University in Montreal, Canada was forced to issue a formal apology for emailing a picture of President Obama kicking open a door–all because some students thought the image was somehow racist. The image was actually an edited .gif, and was shown by Jay Leno on “The Tonight Show” last fall. It humorously suggests that the president may be fed up with press conferences. McGill student Brian Farnan, vice president of the university’s student government, sent out an email with the .gif and the harmless caption, “Honestly midterms get out of here,” according to Legal Insurrection. The United Auto Workers Union suffered a devastating defeat on Friday, when its attempt to organize the workers at the Volkswagen plant in Chattanooga failed on a vote of 712-626 (53-47 percent). The company had agreed not to resist the organizing effort and gave the union access to the plant and its workers. If the union couldn’t win an election under those conditions, it is a powerful sign of how weak, indeed toxic, unions have become in recent years. If the UAW couldn’t win this election, it seems doubtful it can win any election. To be sure, unions have always been

The golden age of unions is long gone — and for the radio shows that focus on labor and workers’ rights, every day is a struggle just to stay on the airwaves. There are a number of talk radio shows around the country covering - and funded by - organized labor that are still up and running, but like the labor movement as a whole, what remains is a far cry from the time when unions and the concerns of workers were a dominant part of the media landscape. “It’s literally dying on the vine,” former radio host-turned-Democratic candidate for the

Water Wars: President Obama visited California´s drought-hit Central Valley Friday, offering handouts and blaming global warming. But the state´s water shortage is due to the left´s refusal to deal with the state´s water needs. Following legislative action last month by Speaker John Boehner and California´s Central Valley Representatives David Valadao, Devin Nunes and Kevin McCarthy, whose Sacramento-San Joaquin Valley Emergency Water Delivery Act was designed to resolve the long-standing problem of environmental water cutbacks that have devastated America´s richest farmland, Obama is grandstanding in California, too. His aim, however, is not a long-term solution for California´s now-constant water shortages that have hit

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. -- The failure of the United Auto Workers to unionize employees at the Volkswagen plant in Tennessee underscores a cultural disconnect between a labor-friendly German company and anti-union sentiment in the South. You might be wrong, but at least you’re consistent, and your supporters will likely appreciate that. But as Jim Geraghty noted this week, the Senator’s reelection web site is looking a little spartan these days, and has one very notable omission. For one of the Senate’s
