| Rob Morrison, an anchor for WCBS-TV in New York, was charged with attempting to strangle his wife after a weekend incident at their home in Connecticut, the station confirmed Monday. Morrison, 44, of Darien, Conn., faces charges of second-degree strangulation, second-degree threatening and disorderly conduct in the incident early Sunday, the station reported. He is accused of attempting to choke his wife, Ashley Morrison, a reporter for CBS MoneyWatch. Ashley Morrison didn´t need medical treatment, but she had red marks on her neck, police said. Rob Morrison was free Monday on $100,000 bond and is due in court Tuesday,

Interesting, my brother lives in Darien and got some neat kind of radio thingee for Christmas that tunes in police scanners all over the world. Was telling me just last night that he can´t believe the accounts of domestic violence he hears right in his own neighborhood.

Colorado authorities are questioning two associates of the man suspected in the killing of the state prisons director, a law enforcement source close to the investigation said Thursday. Williamson, W.Va.- The man suspected of killing a West Virginia sheriff as he ate lunch in his car was mentally disturbed and had no particular vendetta with law enforcement, his father told The Associated Press on Thursday. Melvin Maynard said his 37-year-old son, Tennis Melvin Maynard, was exposed to harmful chemicals and injured while working at an Alabama coal mine. He most likely did not target Mingo County Sheriff Eugene Crum, he said. "He would have probably shot anybody, the first one he come to, you know what I´m saying?" the elder Maynard said. "I know he was off."
