| The lone conservative columnist at the largest and most influential newspaper in Kentucky says he quit writing for the paper because editors are refusing to publish his opinion piece calling the publication out for its apparent liberal bias. Columnist John David Dyche told The Daily Caller Monday that he’s written for the Louisville Courier-Journal for about a decade and his column had never been rejected until last week. Dyche says he quit after Pam Platt, the paper’s editorial page editor, left him a voicemail on Feb. 11 making it clear they wouldn’t run his piece about the paper’s

Well, let´s see ... maybe they can get Maureen Dowd´s column to fill Mr. Dyches´ spot.
Evidentally "free press" doesn´t include questioning those in the "free press."

I grew up on the Courier Journal. It was biased toward the Dems, but it wasn´t nasty. Then it changed and changed for the worst. I finally quit reading it and dropped my subscription after I simply could not stand it any more.

I quit on my local "newspaper" many years ago. Their editorial page was totally leftist. They felt they were somehow above the fray and hated anyone who they thought worked hard enough to make a buck more then them. They bought most of the new stories from national sources or the New York Times. I hope most of them go bankrupt.

It´s fine for a publication to lean left or right and refuse to publish a screed that runs against the grain. It´s also fine for a columnist to quit said publication.
Hopefully, Mr. Dyche will be picked up elsewhere. At the very least, one hopes he will get his article out on the internet via myriad blogs soon.

The Courier Journal is owned by the Gannett Corp, started by Al Neuharth, a left wing Marxist. Gannett has bought out many papers across the USA. It´s how they are taking over the mean spirited Marxist propaganda.
Pam Platt was subtly transferred from the Florida Today to the Louisville Courier-Journal because of her spiteful Marxist actions.
Best way to stop the Marxist propaganda of any paper is to stop the subscriptions, stop buying from advertisers and stop reading it. Several liberal publications are hurting and they should be hurt right out of publication. Some of them area already laying off staff, we should help them along.

The Courrier Journal is an awful, mean spirited left wing rag. When the call and ask if I want to take advantage of some intro rate I kindly tell them I would not take their paper if they gave it to me. The paper itself gets thinner all the time, they are running it into the ground...

This article links to John David Dyche´s excellent column, which this useless left-wing Kentucky rag refused to run.
We in Dallas are eagerly awaiting the demise of the relentlessly left-wing Dallas Morning News, a paper which adheres to Holy Liberal Orthodoxy even as their audience expresses a clear desire for something else. I´d like to list the dwindling DMN subscribership numbers, but I believe they are still banned from quoting subscriber rates, as they were caught lying to their advertisers about those very numbers. (Hey, what´s one more lie from a leftist rag, right?)

The Burlington (VT) Free Press is another Gannett owned rag that leans so far to the left that it´s a wonder it hasn´t toppled over!! It´s like the printed version of PMSNBC. Even the weather report is biased. We canceled our subscription years ago and rarely pick up the Sunday paper for the ads.

That CBS’ Face the Nation host Bob Schieffer, of all people, nodded in agreement when Rep. Darrell Issa asserted on Schieffer’s Sunday morning show that the administration had engaged in a cover-up regarding Benghazi is a huge sign that this scandal is finally being taken seriously by the most traditional establishment liberal media. This is bad news for such über-establishment figures as Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton, but they are politicians who come and, alas eventually, though it seems to take forever, go.

Reuters) - Healthcare reform should be the signature Democratic achievement of President Barack Obama´s presidency. But with "Obamacare" five months from show time, Democrats are worried about whether enough Americans will sign up to make the sweeping healthcare overhaul a success - and what failure might mean for Congress heading into the 2016 presidential race. Some of the law´s main advocates fear that not enough of America´s 49 million uninsured will know about health coverage offered in their own states.

The tale of Brenda Heist, the Pennsylvania mother who abandoned her two children only to turn up in Florida 11 years later, has taken another unlikely turn. On Saturday, she remained jailed on a Santa Rosa County warrant for alleged violation of probation, forgery and giving a false name to law enforcement, said Art Forgey, a spokesman for the Alachua County Sheriff´s Office. Heist, who used the assumed name Kelsie Lyanne Smith, is awaiting extradition, Forgey told CNN affiliate WJXT. She turned herself in Friday. Beirut - Israeli warplanes have attacked a shipment of missiles at Damascus International Airport that was bound for Lebanon’s Hezbollah movement, officials from the United States, Israel and Lebanon told reporters Saturday. The attack Friday coincided with mounting pressure on the Obama administration to formulate a response to the growing risk of weapons proliferation in the Syrian war, notably the possibility that chemical weapons are being used in the conflict and could fall into the hands of extremists. It also came amid renewed reports of sectarian violence in the northern coastal region

There’s a brouhaha a-brewin’ over comments by Niall Ferguson at an investor conference. Ferguson suggested that because John Maynard Keynes was gay, effete, and childless he might have lacked concern for posterity. After all, Keynes famously proclaimed ”in the long run we’re all dead.” In a nigh-upon hysterical and terribly written item, Tom Kostigen of Financial Advisor says Ferguson took “gay-bashing to new heights.” He adds, “Apparently, in Ferguson’s world, if you are gay or childless, you cannot care about future generations nor society.” Now, I don’t know exctly what

Family members of of 9/11 victims, are upset that the museum will charge as much as $25 per person. The world’s most expensive memorial — the National September 11th Memorial and Museum — nearly became a fiscal flatliner, it was learned this week. If it weren’t for billionaire mayor and 9/11 memorial-museum chairman Mike Bloomberg’s “loan” of $15 million, the $700 million museum would have been history before it opened. Now, the world will find out what some of the more dogged 9/11 family members have known for years:

In some of its reports on Saturday night´s White House Correspondents Dinner (WHCD), the Associated Press failed to include one of President Obama´s own gags. AP strangely left out the word "Muslim" in one of Obama´s self-referential jokes. Early in his comments on April 26, President Obama made reference to his young life with a joke and a visual image projected on the video screen. The President joked that everyone loves Michelle and mentioned that she has even appeared on magazine covers. The President said he also appeared on one and showed a mock magazine cover

What accounts for the galloping lushness of bad manners on Twitter? A recent incident may shed some light. When Bill Clinton appeared on Stephen Colbert’s television show in early April, Mr. Colbert expressed surprise that he didn’t have a Twitter feed. Mr. Clinton said he didn’t tweet because he’s “sort of insecure.” So Mr. Colbert set up an account (@PrezBillyJeff) and had the former president dictate his first tweet to him. Mr. Clinton added that he was worried he would attract no followers, saying, “There’s nothing worse than a friendless tweeter, right?”

Admit that you were transfixed by surveillance video of Boston’s brother bombers. It was quintessential “Gotcha!” for the noblest of causes. Testament to technology trumping wrongdoing, it gave cause for relief. Knock on wood, too, that the cops could track the cell phone left in the Mercedes SUV hijacked by one bomber. And those Google Maps aerial shots of the boat were pretty neat, right? The same technology, of course, can catch your everyday non-terrorist running a red light, parking illegally at a Dunkin’ Donuts or smooching with someone not your spouse.

As a presidential speech writer for the first Bush White House, I am always very interested in what presidents say in their formal speeches. They know, of course, that their remarks will be widely covered by the press, studied by analysts, and influential in contemporary political debates. For that reason, presidents rarely speak off-the-cuff, and their every word is carefully chosen for exactly the message the White House wants to convey to the public. Their graduation speeches, like all presidential addresses, go through many drafts and are reviewed by high-level administration officials

The White House on Wednesday stood by its story that the Obama administration remained unsure exactly who was responsible for the attack on the U.S. diplomatic post in Benghazi nearly five days after it occurred even though new revelations show Ansar al-Sharia’s direct involvement. Gregory Hicks, the deputy chief of mission at the U.S. Embassy in Libya and a self-described whistleblower, testified before a Congressional committee Wednesday that the body of Ambassador J. Christpher Stevens was missing for hours during the attack after being dragged out of the diplomatic post in Benghazi.

Northwestern University continued to stumble over diversity issues this week as Mexican students voiced disagreement with a campuswide letter that advised students not to celebrate Cinco de Mayo by engaging in racially-offensive activities, such as eating tacos and drinking tequila. The letter was sent to students via e-mail, and published in The Daily Northwestern last week. Leaders of Alianza, a Latino student group, and the Associated Student Government called on students to remember that Cinco de Mayo commemorates Mexico’s victory over France in the Battle of Puebla. It is not a day to throw a sombrero-themed party, they said.

There was tragic incompetence, plainly, in the Obama administration’s handling of the Benghazi attacks, and even possibly some political calculation. It is a record that may well come to haunt Hillary Clinton, the first Secretary of State to lose an ambassador in the field in more than three decades, if she runs for president in 2016. But the obvious Republican effort to turn this inquiry into the Democratic (Obama) version of the Iraq intelligence scandal that has tarred the GOP since the George W. Bush years -- led by that least-credible of champions, the almost-always-wrong Darrell Issa --

When it became clear last fall that the CIA’s now discredited Benghazi talking points were flawed, the White House said repeatedly the document were put together almost entirely by the intelligence community, but White House documents reviewed by Congress suggest a different story. ABC News has obtained 12 different versions of the talking points that show they were extensive edited as they evolved from the drafts first written entirely by the CIA to the final version distributed to Congress and to U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. Susan Rice before she appeared on five talk shows the Sunday after that attack.

She weathered Whitewater. She made it past Monica ?Lewinsky. Now Hillary Clinton is hoping to beat the rap on Benghazi and make it to the White House. The Clinton political machine is in full campaign mode already, preparing for 2016 and hoping voters forget by then that she had a key role in the Obama administration’s handling of the terror attack. But that’s becoming more difficult as the GOP appears to be laying the groundwork for tying Clinton to Benghazi and making sure it stays front and center in the next campaign. Some of the testimony from State Department whistleblowers

Fans of Glenn Beck are complaining about what I wrote yesterday about his speech at the National Rifle Association convention, where he used a giant image of Michael Bloomberg photoshopped into what appeared to be an image of Hitler with his arm raised in a Nazi salute and wearing an armband. The Beck crowd now tells me that it wasn’t Hitler’s picture into which the New York mayor was transposed but that of Communist leader Vladimir Lenin. They say that means I owe Beck an apology along with the Anti-Defamation League and others who were also outraged by it.

John McCain is going to release a bill that would dismantle cable as it´s currently constructed, Brenden Sasso at The Hill reports. The legislation would force cable companies and satellite TV providers to give consumers an option to pick and choose which channels they get. This is called "à la carte programming," and it´s long been a dream of consumers who only want a handful of channels. McCain tried to introduce similar legislation in 2006 and it went nowhere.

WASHINGTON — The Internal Revenue Service is apologizing for inappropriately flagging conservative political groups for additional reviews during the 2012 election to see if they were violating their tax-exempt status. Lois Lerner, who heads the IRS unit that oversees tax-exempt groups, said organizations that included the words "tea party" or "patriot" in their applications for tax-exempt status were singled out for additional reviews. Lerner said the practice, initiated by low-level workers in Cincinnati, was wrong and she apologized while speaking at a conference in Washington.
