Whiskey lovers cheer as
Maker´s Mark restores proof

CBS News, by Staff/AP

Original Article

Posted By:Not your typical New Yorker, 2/18/2013 10:45:31 AM

The producer of Maker´s Mark bourbon is reversing a decision to cut the amount of alcohol in bottles of its famous whiskey. Rob Samuels, Maker´s Mark´s chief operating officer, said Sunday that it is restoring the alcohol volume of its product to its historic level of 45 percent, or 90 proof. Last week, it said it was lowering the amount to 42 percent, or 84 proof, because of a supply shortage. The company in a statement on its website on Sunday said to its followers: "You spoke. We listened. And we´re sincerely sorry we let you down."

Comments:
If you must, raise the price don´t lower the bourbon!

Got to wonder about the intelligence of the people running this company. They make their customers angry by announcing they will be watering down their bourbon, like they didn´t think it would make their customers angry?

In fact, she says, the reporters often receive the answers in advance of the briefing, too. According to the reporter, Jay Carney told her this yesterday at the White House:(snip)"And then he also mentioned that a lot of times, unless it´s something breaking, the questions that the reporters actually ask -- the correspondents -- they are provided to him in advance. White House spokesman Jay Carney plugged his wife´s book today at the White House press briefing: In response to a question about whether raising the minimum wage is good politics -- because it helps Democrats with women voters -- Carney said, "It´s certainly the right thing to do regardless. What the assessments that have been done related to the minimum wage is that women would be affected more than men, because women tend to have minimum wage jobs, as I understand it -- not an economist -- in greater numbers than men do." He continued, bringing his wife´s book into the discussion:

Just seven years ago, if someone had told me that I´d be writing for Christianity Today magazine about how I came to believe in God, I would have laughed out loud. If there was one thing in which I was completely secure, it was that I would never adhere to any religion—especially to evangelical Christianity, which I held in particular contempt. I grew up in the Episcopal Church in Alaska, but my belief was superficial and flimsy. It was borrowed from my archaeologist father, who was so brilliant he taught himself to speak and read Russian. I’ve been quite critical of President Obama over the course of his presidency. Earlier this week, for example, I wrote a piece in which I accused Mr. Obama of mendacity. So I take a back seat to no one when it comes to leveling harsh judgments against the president. But even I, an Obama critic, believe there are some lines one should not cross, some things that should never be said, some blows that are too brutal even for American politics. I had in mind what Jimmy Carter, who ranks with James Buchanan and a few others as among America’s worst

Senate Democrats voted unanimously three years ago to support the Obamacare rule that is largely responsible for some of the health insurance cancellation letters that are going out. In September 2010, Senate Republicans brought a resolution to the floor to block implementation of the grandfather rule, warning that it would result in canceled policies and violate President Barack Obama’s promise that people could keep their insurance if they liked it.(snip) On a party line vote, Democrats killed the resolution, which could come back to haunt vulnerable Democrats up for re-election this year.

WASHINGTON — Mitt Romney said Sunday that President Barack Obama is naive when it comes to Russia, has shown "faulty judgment" about Moscow´s intentions and could have done more to try to deter its annexation of Crimea. The 2012 Republican presidential nominee said Obama didn´t have the foresight to anticipate Russia´s moves and should have been working earlier with allies to make clear the penalties that Russia would face if it moved into Ukraine. Romney did acknowledge that such steps may not have been enough though to hold back Russia President Vladimir Putin. "Had we communicated those things, there´s always

A few weeks ago, I wrote about how the sweeping acceptance of gay marriage in recent years is owed in large part to Christianity. Rejecting the rigidly hierarchical and stratified societies of the ancient world, Jesus Christ taught the equal dignity of all persons, proclaimed that the meek shall inherit the earth, and declared that the last shall be first and the first shall be last. The Western world has been working out the logic of these subversive teachings ever since, with the institutional transformation of marriage being the latest, though surely not the last, example of its social, moral,

In a constituent meeting gone awry that was captured on shaky, amateur video, embattled Rep. You don´t have any damn facts!” Ellmers exploded at one of the activists when he said that employers – who often claim a labor shortage to argue for amnesty – frequently don´t post job openings in that region.
