Bad news: The asteroid that just
missed Earth is coming back. And...

Investor´s Business Daily, by Andrew Malcolm

Original Article

In terms of a family car vacation, the ancient asteroid that flew by Earth Friday may have seemed far away -- 17,200 miles. In astronomical terms, however, Asteroid 2012 AD 14 was actually very close, much closer, for example, than the Moon´s 239,000 miles. And computer projections of that asteroid´s Earth-like orbit into the future currently forecast an upcoming earthly encounter of the explosive kind. More on that disastrous possibility in a minute.

Looks like a good reason to park a probe with an ion engine and sufficient fuel on it in 2046 and use the engine to alter the orbit so it won´t hit the earth. Won´t take that much - the earlier you start making the orbital change the less delta-v required.

The third angel sounded his trumpet, and a great star, blazing like a torch, fell from the sky on a third of the rivers and on the springs of water. The name of the star is Wormwood. A third of the waters turned bitter, and many people died from the waters that had become bitter. (Revelation 8:10-12)

These government idiots will do the same thing with this that they have done with the deficit - kick the can down the road, let the next bunch do it, they are too busy erasing freedom, stealing votes and money.

Fortunately, I will be long dead, so I will not worry at all.

However - note to younger members of the world - this is NOT BS like MM global warming. This one will actually kill a whole bunch of you if you can´t get your s#!*&% together in time.

Obama denounces stale political arguments,
promises to create more jobs again
Investor´s Business Daily, by Andrew Malcolm    Original Article

Hi, everybody. In my State of the Union Address, I talked about the idea of opportunity for all. Opportunity is the idea at the heart of this country — that no matter who you are or how you started out, with hard work and responsibility, you can get ahead. I ran for President to restore that idea, and I’m even more passionate about it today. Because while our economy has been growing for four years, and those at the top are doing better than ever, average wages have barely budged.

Not a smidgeon of credibility

According to the president of the United States, the IRS scandal over agents targeting conservative groups is merely the result of "bone-headed decisions" by a few confused employees. And Barack Obama adds there’s not a "smidgeon" of corruption. Wait! Remember when this scandal broke last May, a president looking much like Barack Obama was so totally publicly outraged over this violation of government trust that he fired the IRS´ acting commissioner? Yet now, it´s all simply an unfortunate few instances of bone-headeded-ness that just happened to prevent dozens of groups opposed to Obama from participating in the 2012 election campaign.

Don´t be fooled into thinking that the 2016 presidential race and its main competitors will be determined in Washington. It can look that way with Washington media talking to Washington inmates about Washington issues on Washington shows. Rand Paul. Hillary Clinton. Marco Rubio. Ted Cruz. Paul Ryan. Peter King. (Just kidding.) Because these past 1,842 days with a rookie senator pretending to be the nation´s chief executive have shown how really well that works.

Did you ever find an old high school yearbook and shake your head at what´s changed since then? Not just the obvious clothing and hairstyles. But so many of the plans and promise of so many people. That´s what we did. We went back 1,818 days to one of the first speeches Barack Obama gave as the 44th president. Back to Feb. 12, 2009, less than a month from his first morning in office. There he was in East Peoria, Ill., at the massive Caterpillar factory, selling his then $879 billion stimulus spending plan wending its way through Congress.

GOP: 4 bipartisan House bills all

You may not have been thinking about it at the time, but on Tuesday, when the president was delivering the State of the Union, we were observing a tradition prescribed by our Constitution. All branches of government and all walks of life gathering round in the people’s House. It is democracy at its finest. But these blessings do come with responsibilities. The Constitution also requires the president and Congress to heed the will of you, the people, and work together to carry out the business of the country. So in that spirit, Republicans identified 4 areas of bipartisanship.

Hi, everybody. This week, I delivered my State of the Union Address. Today, here’s the three-minute version. After four years of economic growth with eight million new private sector jobs, our unemployment rate is the lowest it’s been in more than five years. And with the economy speeding up, companies say they intend to hire more people this year. But while those at the top are doing better than ever, average wages have barely budged.

Barack Obama was in Wisconsin and Tennessee Thursday happy talking about "opportunity." He´s for it, by the way. "It´s good to be in Wisconsin," he told Wisconsin. Few hours later, "It´s good to be in Nashville." In both places he talked about the “opportunity” that comes with jobs and the “opportunity” that comes with education. As a word, "opportunity" polls well. Yet, these days whenever Obama has the opportunity to talk about his signature namesake "achievement," he rarely seizes the opportunity. The enterprising TV news video here shows why.

Barack Obama has never shown any great respect for ambassadors, a president´s hand-picked representative to another country. You´ll remember how shook up this president was over the 2012 murders of Amb. Chris Stevens and three other Americans in Benghazi; Obama flew off to Las Vegas fundraisers before the bodies were even cold. But two of Obama´s recent ambassadorial choices reveal the Democrat´s uber-political modus operandi—Max Baucus and George Tsunis.

Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers of Washington state, No. 4 in the House GOP leadership, gives the Republican Party's response to the president's State of the Union: What an honor it is for me to be with you after the President’s State of the Union. Tonight we honor America — a nation that has witnessed the greatest rise of freedom and opportunity our world has ever seen. A nation where we are not defined by our limits, but by our potential. And a nation where a girl who worked at the McDonald’s Drive-Thru to help pay for college can be with you from the United States Capitol.

President Obama gave another speech Tuesday night. It was the 93rd time a president has personally delivered a State of the Union address to a joint session of Congress. And it sounded like it. Obama has looked as if he´s mailing it in recently. Not Tuesday night. He seemed genuinely involved and invested in his 7,000 words. Unfortunately for him and anyone who chose to listen to the whole 65 minutes, there wasn´t anything new or even much to invest any thought in. Ear candy for Obama lovers.

A survey arrived from the Obama crowd Monday. It asked what we most wanted to hear from the recovering smoker´s State of the Union address. That´s a trick, of course, to collect more emails and donations. The speech has been in the works for weeks with policies vetted by departments and key phrases poll-tested. It won´t surprise you after tonight that "income inequality" tested well. Our answer to what we most want to hear tonight is: “Thank you very much and may God bless America.” [Snip] This is all thanks to Woodrow Wilson.

It is one of the most common - albeit, ineptly used - elements of the English language. Now, an American academic has suggested that the comma could be abolished as a punctuation mark. Professor John McWhorter claims removing commas from most modern U.S. texts would cause ´little loss of clarity´ - meaning they may now be in a state of obsolescence. He adds that internet users are becoming increasingly carefree in their use of the punctuation mark - with some professional writers following suit, according to The Times. ´[You] could take them out of a great deal of modern American

TWENTY-ONE years ago, when I first heard Mia Farrow had accused me of child molestation, I found the idea so ludicrous I didn’t give it a second thought. We were involved in a terribly acrimonious breakup, with great enmity between us and a custody battle slowly gathering energy. The self-serving transparency of her malevolence seemed so obvious I didn’t even hire a lawyer to defend myself. It was my show business attorney who told me she was bringing the accusation to the police and I would need a criminal lawyer. I naïvely thought the accusation would be dismissed out of hand because of course, I hadn’t molested Dylan

Appearing on MSNBC, former Secretary of State Colin Powell savaged the Republican Party of which he says he is still a member for catering to “elements” that are overtly hostile to people of other races or nationalities. Powell told MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell that there are groups within the GOP who “demonize people who don’t look like the way they’d like them to look.” He added that, for this reason, he believes the GOP needs him more than the Democratic Party needs him. Speaking with Mitchell about the need for immigration reform, Powell said that reforming the system was critical. “We are

A private girls´ school in Northern California wanted to incorporate Black History Month into lunch time, so it decided to serve fried chicken, watermelon, and cornbread. Geraldo Rivera took on Bill O’Reilly Friday night over whether O’Reilly was disrespectful to President Obama in their big Super Bowl interview. Rivera gave O’Reilly some benefit of the doubt, but other than that thought O’Reilly was a bit too confrontational and didn’t give Obama the kind of respect a president normally deserves. Rivera argued it was less like an interview and more like a meeting of the minds with the “President of Most of the White Guys of America” (O’Reilly) against the president of the rest of the country, and told O’Reilly that it was out of line for him

But I guess I´m kind of curious: Is there much of a case to be made for anyone other than Paul Ryan? On the substantive side, Ryan sure seems like he´s setting himself up for a run. There´s his steady series of "unheralded" anti-poverty outreach trips that always manage to be just heralded enough to get sympathetic press coverage.
