They might want to raise money for victims of child abuse as well. Not only for Sandusky´s victims, but for foster and child protective agencies that rescue children from inhumane environments.

What happened at Penn State was repugnant, but can we be fair to the students and faculty there that were not involved in the sordid affair? They should not have to be punished for the sins of others.

Their fundraising effort is commendable.

So proud of all involved, this takes a year to raise the amazing 12 million...It´s the largest collegiate philanthropic fundraiser in the world. The kids work so so hard on this all year, all over the state.

Be happy for a change eh? They´ve been doing this for many years and each year their numbers go up...look it up, THON.... and see the wing of the Hershey Hospital THEY´VE BUILT.

Negativity here is unbelievable!

My cousin´s baby was born with Down´s Syndrome and needed open heart surgery and then chemo for leukemia (both common in conjunction with Down´s, as you know). She was treated at Hershey and is doing wonderfully. Many years later. My cousin is a neo-natal nurse and knows her stuff -- and credits THON every year for the amazing impact their fundraising has made for children. $12million is an AMAZING amount of money - and more than $100million lifetime is truly incredible. Congratulations to all involved and thank you for helping save the life of my cousin´s beautiful daughter.

No advances in cancer research? Try the local little girl who was dying from cancer and just went through a new trial treatment for the childhood cancer that kills most of these Thon clients. She was at the Thon free of cancer this weekend. See today´s www.centredaily.com. Plus these Thon people finance the treatment and family insurance needs of their clients and become personal support for families. I just adore the sour grapes of people who post here. One year the student house next to me was occupied by Thon organizers and they often worked until 2 a.m. By a proud resident of State College not connected to the college. You should be so lucky.

The regents of the University of Michigan (UM) granted a hefty tuition discount to students who are in the country illegally. The vote to establish in-state tuition rates for illegal immigrants took place on Thursday, following months of discussion over the issue. The two Republican members of the Board of Regents voted against the measure. Under the old tuition policy, illegal immigrants living in the state of Michigan were automatically considered out-of-state students. Now all residents of Michigan, regardless of whether they lawfully entered the U.S., will enjoy in-state tuition rates. The difference between in-state

In January, Rush Limbaugh warned that there was “an effort under way to normalize pedophilia,” and was ridiculed by liberals (including CNN’s Soledad O’Brien) for saying so. WASHINGTON — While momentum has been building inside the House Republican conference for a special congressional committee to investigate last year’s terrorist attacks in Benghazi, the GOP leadership is making it clear they still have no enthusiasm for establishing such a committee. How does the Republican Party establishment choose its presidential candidate? Typically, constitutionalists accuse their establishment rivals of being moderate, risk-averse, stubborn old fools who lack faith in conservative principles. This is a soothing interpretation, as it begins from the hypothesis that the contest between conservatives and the GOP elite is a family feud. But there is another hypothesis -- less soothing, but, at least from an outsider´s bird´s-eye view, more reconcilable with the facts. This hypothesis is that America has reached a stage of progressive soft despotism in which the only important family feud in national politics is between the fundamentally

A caveat right off the bat: RAND’s estimate only runs through March 28 whereas the actual deadline for signing up was March 31st. Given the crush of traffic on Healthcare.gov in late March, many more people could have signed up over those last three days than were captured by these numbers. On the other hand, the White House was claiming six million sign-ups as of March 27. There’s no way to reconcile that with RAND’s data. One of them is wrong. Maybe both, in fact.
