| I have some very disappointing news for some of the more-virulent foes of sane gun-control legislation. If you’re what the National Rifle Association loves to call a “law-abiding American citizen,” no one is going to take away your guns. Not the federal government. Not the state government. Not the local government. Not the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines or Coast Guard. Not the United Nations. Not the zombies. Well, OK, I can’t absolutely guarantee what zombies might do, but they move so slowly, you shouldn’t have much trouble keeping them from your firearms.

Comments: Saul Alinski tactics by a local newspaper editor. As a rural community we are subject to the frustration of having one leftist newspaper for daily information.

A prophet has arisen among us, one who is able to peer into the mists of the future and to behold what will and will not happen in time to come. Thus saith the prophet: Fear not! No one is coming to take your guns!
This is good to know. Now we can relax. The prophet has seen the future. There is nothing to worry about.

#8 is right. EVERY time a government has imposed registration it has been followed up - sometimes a decade or more later - with confiscation.
What follows confiscation is very often mass-murder: government murdering its own people.
Nearly 200 million people were killed in the 20th century by their own governments.

Everyone knows that no one is coming to confiscate guns tomorrow. But we are aware of the left´s tactic of taking power incrementally. Example : the homosexual agenda. Example: public education. Example: entertainment. Example: the media.
Now we see you emboldened by your Marxist leader. And we know you leftists will start small taking as big of bites as you can. And we know how you exploit what you contrive as crises in order to plow thru legislation you want that is against the will of the citizens.
So pardon us if we put you on notice that gun control, as YOU see it will not be obeyed. Pass all the legislation you want. But you´ll have to send someone knocking at my door with a search warrant. We will nullify your legislation like the OJ Simpson jury. And you had better be ready for the second civil war.

This guy is lying or is ignorant. There are proposals in several states to make possession of some legally owned guns illegal. They´ll have the option of surrendering them, moving them out of the state, or becoming criminals.
And if they do come for the guns, this guy will cheer them on. Libs are famous for that. They say something won´t happen, but when it does they support it and it´s like they never said otherwise.

The author is correct. There are plenty of tin-foil hat folks out there.
The issue is violence and senseless murder. How do we as a society keep weapons away from those most likely to commit violence and senseless murder? And just when is the NRA going to show any interest at all in even coming to the table to address this question?
I agree with the author that there was a time the NRA focused on things like gun safety education instead of tin-foil hat conspiracy theories. The NRA was a better organization back then.

And to #22: NRA is very much focused on gun safety education, as you would know if you were an active member.
“...How do we as a society keep weapons away from those most likely to commit violence and senseless murder? …”
That doesn’t fall under the auspices of NRA.
‘Society’ has no power to ‘keep anything away.’ There is really no way to identify all ‘those likely to commit violence and senseless murder,’ but if a person believes he/she has knowledge of such a person, ‘notifying proper authorities’ would probably be good advise.
NRA isn’t the ‘proper authority.’
They have no policing powers.

Sam Pollock lives in an ivory tower. Never the victim of a face to face crime. Thinks he´s above the common man problems, doesn´t acknowledge there are common man problems. He erroneously believes that they won´t come for him - he´s more dangerous than any conservative with a gun.
Hitler, Pol Pot, Stalin came to power because they LIED to the public. Told them what they want to hear. The MSM praised Clinton for his lying ability (people didn´t need to be hurt by the truth). Now we have the epitome of a liar in office.

They´re starting to grow out, get a little irritating.´ Still, she hasn´t let her hairdo woes get her down. ´It´s okay,´ she said after her initial complaint. ´We´ll be good.´ The first indication that her hairstyle was becoming a burden came about last weekend, when Malia, 14, was spotted adjusting her mother´s hair during the White House Easter Egg Roll.

President Obama´s biggest gaffe yesterday when speaking of California Attorney General Kamala Harris was not in flirtatiously complimenting her as "the best-looking attorney general," but in introducing an observation from the system of beauty into a forum that was about the system of power. What´s that, you say? Irin Carmon does a great job in Salon in laying out the bounds of propriety for when it´s appropriate to talk about a woman´s looks as a general matter. In the chilling interview, a distraught Ms. Smith, in tears, pleaded for answers and spoke of the efforts to silence her. Ms. Smith first relayed how her son, prior to the attack, requested additional security in advance and warned the State Department: He did tell them, ahead of time, he typed it into his little typewriter over there,

Recent research indicates that the number of people who do not consider themselves a part of an organized religion is steadily on the rise. Interestingly enough, though the number of those religiously unaffiliated is increasing, there is little to no trend in the number of those who express atheist or agnostic beliefs. People aren’t saying they don’t believe in God. They’re saying they don’t believe in religion. They are not rejecting Christ. They are rejecting the church. This begs the question, “Why are we losing our religion?”

No one is more preoccupied these days with Hillary Clinton´s 2016 plans than the Beltway political class—not even the former presidential candidate herself. To hear some tell it, her decision will be dispositive for all other Democrats thinking of entering the race. And pundits and reporters aren´t the only ones positing the "The Hillary Factor": No less than the House Democratic whip, Steny Hoyer, told BuzzFeed, “I don´t know that anybody would run against Hillary…. If she runs, she clears the field.” It´s an understandable conclusion, given Clinton´s stature in the Democratic Party and her 70 percent

Put out an all-points bulletin: Millions of Americans have gone missing from the workforce. Every month that those would-be workers are gone raises the odds that they might never come back, dimming the prospects for future economic growth. The vanishing trend is more than a decade old, but it accelerated during the Great Recession. Throughout 2012, economists held out hope that it had stopped. But then came Friday’s jobs report, and hopes were dashed. The Labor Department reported that the U.S. labor force — everyone who has a job or is looking for one — shrank
