Black Hornet: British Army unveil latest
weapon against the Taliban

Telegraph [UK], by Staff

Original Article

Posted By:Attercliffe, 2/14/2013 7:32:10 AM

Sergeant Carl James Boyd of the 1st Royal Regiment of Fusiliers demonstrates how the Norwegian-designed Black Hornet Nano will be used by troops on the front line in Afghanistan. The tiny handheld surveillance helicopters contains a camera that beams back video and still images to a handheld control terminal, allowing soldiers to see past obstacles to identify potential hidden dangers. The remote-controlled drone measures about 4in by 1in and weighs 0.6oz Sergeant Boyd described the piece of kit as a "lifesaver".

Comments:
That´s the entire article--except, of course, you can watch the video to see how the Black Hornet works.

Please. These guys are such dorks.

This is the latest weapon against the Tallywhackers? Go for it, limeys. The Taliban will swat those away like dog-(censored) gnats and shoot you dead with a 50-year-old rifle.

Every mall in the U.S. has a kiosk where you can buy all types of nifty little "black hornets."

1. This is the wettest winter since records began. No it´s not. As Paul Homewood reveals at his website Not A Lot Of People Know That, it was considerably wetter between November 1929 and January 1930. Yes, this January was wet, but it still only ranks as the sixteenth wettest month since records began in 1766. 2. The Environment Agency has been doing a great job with inadequate resources. No it hasn´t. With a staff of 11,200 and an annual budget of £1.2 billion, this bloated quango is grotesquely overmanned and overfunded, bigger almost than the size of the Canadian,

I fear the front-page story in The Telegraph--revealing that the worst of the flood damage could have been prevented--didn’t tell the half of it.[Snip] Devastating evidence has now come to light not just that the floods covering 65 square miles of the Somerset Levels could have been prevented, but that they were deliberately engineered by Labour ministers in 2009, regardless of the property and human rights of the thousands of people whose homes and livelihoods would be affected. Furthermore, that wildly misleading Met Office forecast in November led the Environment Agency to take a step that has made the flooding

Afghanistan could become a future terrorist haven when the U.S. withdraws unless a larger and more expensive Afghan security force is planned, a study has warned. The report sketched a scenario in which the Taliban would seek to capitalize on the absence of foreign combat forces and press its campaign to regain political power in Kabul. ´History suggests that the Taliban will use sanctuaries in Pakistan to regenerate their capabilities as military pressure on the movement declines,´ the report said. As a first step, in 2015-16, the Taliban may put additional pressure on Afghan security forces in rural areas, expand

Unremarked, the EU is about to hold its first federal elections. The European Parliament has been quietly sucking in more power for decades, but has so far lacked the supreme attribute of a federal legislature, namely the right to appoint a federal government. During the 2008 financial crisis, the US Federal Reserve struggled to grasp the scope of the problem and how to adequately respond, transcripts reveal. After a five-year wait, the central bank released the records of a total of 14 meetings from 2008. The transcripts offer the clearest insights yet into the central bank´s thinking during the crisis. "Frankly, I am decidedly confused and very muddled" said former chair Ben Bernanke during a September meeting. Overall, the documents paint a picture of the Fed that shows that it worried perhaps more than it should about inflation risks, and failed to grasp

The Royal College of Surgeons wrote to healthcare inspectors last year warning of “grave concerns” that too many people were dying in the south of the country because of long waits for heart surgery. The letter, seen by The Daily Telegraph, calls for swift action to tackle “unacceptably high mortality” levels and highlights more than 150 cases in which patients died waiting for life-saving treatment. The country is often said to be split between east and west, between Russian- and Ukrainian-speakers, between those nostalgic for Soviet certainties and those who want a Western-style future. Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, may be the brightest light to adorn the Republican Party in many years. He knows how to make the case for conservative ideas, pointing, for example, to the contrasting fates of Detroit and Houston to illustrate the superiority of conservative policies. So it´s particularly galling to see that rather than train his fire at President Barack Obama and the liberal machine that cocoons him, Cruz has become a one-man wrecking ball against Republicans. His most recent foray into sabotaging his colleagues concerned the debt limit increase. Because Speaker John Boehner sent over a "clean" debt limit bill,

The U.S. Bureau of Reclamation announced Friday it will continue to monitor rain and snowfall, but at this point there´s not enough water in the Central Valley Project to give water to farmers. Last year, Central Valley farmers received 20 percent of their normal allowance, and that figure is now set at zero percent. This marks the third dry year for the state, and Gov. Listening to pundits talk about the potential 2016 Republican field, you’d be forgiven for forgetting about Rick Santorum. The former senator’s strong second-place showing in 2012 shocked—even scared—the GOP’s kingmakers, who saw in him an abortion-hating firebrand with no chance of beating Barack Obama. So it’s no surprise that today, the party’s mainstreamers are acting like he’s old news, again dismissing a Santorum presidential candidacy. Not that he cares. He’s too busy plotting another possible run at the White House. In recent months, Santorum has gathered his inner circle of longtime advisers to sketch out a presidential campaign. President Obama’s stimulus may have boosted the economy when it passed in 2009, but it’s now beginning to take a toll and will soon begin to leave the economy worse off than if it had never passed, according to a new report Friday by the Congressional Budget Office. Mr. Obama signed the stimulus into law five years ago this week, vowing it would help rescue the economy from its post-Wall Street collapse tailspin, and saying it would save millions of jobs. The CBO said it’s been successful at that, helping sustain between 700,000 and 3.6 million jobs at its peak
