Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) just announced that he’ll be placing a hold on the nomination of John Brennan for CIA director until he receives answers to his questions about the administration’s use of drones. “I have asked Mr. Brennan if he believed that the President has the power to authorize lethal force, such as a drone strike, against a U.S. citizen on U.S. soil, and my question remains unanswered. I will not allow a vote on this nomination until Mr. Brennan openly responds to the questions and concerns my colleagues and I share,” Paul said. “These issues must be

This will really send the Democrats into a frenzy. Where are the rest of the Republicans?? Miss Lindsey? McPain? Will he ask him about his conversion to Islam? Oh, that´s right. That´s off limits.

I thought Reid said he wasn´t going to recognize any holds. If they work, why in heaven was Hagel and Kerry not held?

Why weren´t Hagel and Kerry "held? It is because THEY are both in the Senate "club." Republicans mustn´t do anything so nasty to a former "colleague" - who cares about the country?

HAZARD, Ky.—Mitch McConnell, the top Republican in the U.S. Senate, is building his re-election campaign around a concept that hasn´t been heard much recently: Vote for me—I´m powerful. In a February swing through southeastern Kentucky, Mr. McConnell touted his central role in inserting a pilot program for hemp growers into a recent farm bill and in fighting with the Obama administration over proposed rules on coal-fired power plants. In Kentucky, he has benefited from his grip on the state GOP, whose headquarters is named for him. Of the 68 Republicans in the Kentucky statehouse, 64 have endorsed him over his

The political community is abuzz about the growing possibility that Republicans might win control of the Senate this November. But little attention has been paid to a larger and more significant trend. Like former Presidents Bill Clinton and George W. Bush, President Obama saw his party lose control of Congress during his time in the White House. Never before in American history have three presidents in a row received such a rebuke from the voters. This is a fundamental rejection of both political parties. To understand this frustration, consider a lesson from one of America´s most beloved movies, "The Wizard

A war over online gambling is about to spill out in Congress as opponents move to restore a long-standing Internet gambling ban and block Uncle Sam from creating a sprawling new federal department to police the web. Rep. Jason Chaffetz, R-Utah, and Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., plan to introduce legislation next week to challenge two bills introduced earlier this session that would either create an “Office of Internet Poker Oversight” in the Commerce Department or a broader “Office of Internet Gambling Oversight” in Treasury. Those bills, also sponsored by Republicans, were inspired by states eager to cash in on gambling and the

WASHINGTON — Want your city, university or nonprofit group to be chosen to host President Barack Obama´s presidential library? Now´s the time to get started. The foundation that will develop and choose the site for Obama´s future library asked interested parties Thursday to submit their initial proposals. The "request for qualifications" offers the most detailed look to date at what the president and first lady Michelle Obama are seeking for what will be the permanent monument to their White House legacy. President Barack Obama will return for another Martha´s Vineyard vacation, sources said Wednesday. The first family is expected to vacation Aug. 9-23, according to a source who asked to be anonymous because he doesn´t want to anger the White House security staff, which does not like to release vacation information for the president. President Obama; his wife, Michelle; and daughters Sasha and Malia spent nine days last summer on the Vineyard, his fourth presidential holiday there since he was elected in 2008 and re-elected in 2012. The Obamas skipped the Vineyard in 2012 because of the election. The president makes

Obamacare architect Zeke Emanuel claims in his new book that the health care reform law will result in “the end of employer-sponsored insurance.” Despite President Barack Obama’s claim that “if you like your plan, you can keep it” — a talking point developed in his first 100 days in office by a tiny but influential left-wing messaging group called the Herndon Alliance — his administration has long planned to disassemble the current U.S. insurance industry as well as alter health care reform. The Daily Caller reported last June that the Obama administration was making moves to squash self-funded insurance plans,

She said when Democrats held both chambers under President George W. Bush in 2007-2008 she and her troops were

The words came out of my mouth before I could stop them. “I feel sorry for Obama,” I said. As my wife looked at me in disbelief, I quickly added a correction. “Well, almost.” Beset by failures at home and abroad, the president cuts a lonely and sad figure these days. His aura of grief reflects his profound loss. His worldview crashed headlong into reality, and reality won. Obamaism is dead, may it rest in peace. That’s sad for him, but hold the tears — his loss is mankind’s hope. If Obama wakes from his utopian visions and faces the

The two men have campaigned for each other, with Patrick acting as a surrogate for Obama nationally during the 2012 presidential race. Patrick has said clearly that he intends to return to the private sector when his second term as governor is up at the end of the year and will not run for president in 2016. Health industry officials say ObamaCare-related premiums will double in some parts of the country, countering claims recently made by the administration. The expected rate hikes will be announced in the coming months amid an intense election year, when control of the Senate is up for grabs. The sticker shock would likely bolster the GOP’s prospects in November and hamper ObamaCare insurance enrollment efforts in 2015. The industry complaints come less than a week after Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Kathleen Sebelius sought to downplay concerns about rising premiums in the healthcare sector. She told lawmakers rates would increase in 2015 but
