Michelle Obama looks chic in Jason Wu... AGAIN! First Lady chooses sparkling crimson cocktail dress by trusted designer for President Obama´s State of the Union speech Daily Mail (UK), by Deborah Arthurs
They don´t call her the First Lady of Fashion for nothing. And last night, As Michelle Obama played host to honoured guests at her husband´s State of the Union address, she proved that she can do glamorous power dressing with the best of them. Wearing a shimmering crimson and black cocktail dress by Jason Wu, she looked every inch the perfect politician´s consort. Wu of course is one of Michelle´s most trusted designers. He not only designed the white gown she wore for her debut as First Lady at the President´s inaugural ball back in 2009,
I used to think she looked liked James Brown in a drag queen dress. However after seeing her with the wig on several times she now reminds me of an out cast from the Huli tribe from Papua New Guinea known for their ´wig hats´. Google ´Huli tribe´ for more info.
I feel sorry for the woman, I really do. Wookie face, basketball player arms, no decolletage to speak of, and her hips...well, bless her heart.
But its obvious the trailer park sensibility has never left this woman. I cant decide if the fashion designers are scared to tell her that her choices just. don´t. work. Or if they are incapable of finding a style that fits her...or if they are merely incompetent. Its a hard call.
As for myself, I´m taking a Downton Abbey perspective...
I always wonder who writes this stuff. Michelle has no sense of fashion whatsoever. That wig is hideous and out of place; her cocktail dress was inappropriate at the state of the union, and bare arms are horrid and shows she has no class at all. I am so embarrassed to say she is our first lady. Michelle has no class and no common sense.
Mooch looked like Geraldine last night. The dress was out of place. A business suit or conservative dress would be more appropriate. After all, the sotu isn´t about her. Poor taste IS about her. Actually I thought she looked silly. This wasn´t the prom Moochie girl, it was the sotu!!!!!!
isnt time for Mitch to tell us where she is going on the next vacation that she deserves...now that she and "hubby" will be installed as our pResident for life...it should be a biggie vacation destination..
It is obvious that Mrs. O has no sense of decorum. A cocktail dress is inappropriate attire for the SOTU. What next, a ball gown? I am sure that no one tells this woman anything negative including her husband. She is more in the vein of The Queen of Hearts than she is the First Lady. Off with their heads!
Mrs Obama with her bare arms is either ahead of all the other ladies present in the room fashion wise, or was out of place fashion wise. We will have wait until the gay fashion designers weigh in to find out.
It may have been the camera angle, but it sure looked like her wig was a little out of calibration with the front of her head. Then again maybe that´s the way it was designed to be.
Does all that really matter compared to what President Obama said he wants to do to America?
Let me be clear: are we paying for all of the stuff that makes her "stunning?" I am also stunned, but not in a polite and adoring way. I do not want to be told that she is keeping all of those ugly outfits, and the accessories , and jewelry, and shoes...and is more concerned with those things than just sitting down somewhere and being quietly seen from a distance. She is making a mockery of "First Lady" at least as I see that honor.
I´d wager her "stylist" fried her hair or skin and that´s why the banged wig. But those hair relaxer products are like crack. Addictive & dangerous. Her clothing style seems immature and misguided. Her facial expressions are very telling but no doubt she is still in grooming classes from Hollywood syncophants.
She´s a chic? Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha to the nth power. This middle line backer looked like an orangutan in a dress. We should all be thankful that she wasn´t sitting in a place where we had to look big oiled llegs she´s so fond of crossing any chance she gets. The woman is trailer trash and has the manners of a hog. But, I do thank her Just seeing her standing there with that lower lip pulled up enough to cover her six inch teeth gave me the last reason I needed to switch to watching Westminster and dogs one can enjoy watching.
Her dresses are like tents--small at the top (because she is flat-chested) to make it look like she is thin and flared out at the bottom to cover her hips and thighs. All we see are her sinewy arms and the bottom part of her legs. It is really a remarkable feat of camouflage.
Those who could not read the article: please do. The Mail is notorious for its tongue-in-cheek coverage of Michelle´s fashion "sense."
Putting on the glitz: The otherwise simple tweed dress was shot through with sparkling thread
The key to the TIC is the emphatic "otherwise." A "simple tweed dress" (with at least three-quarter sleeves, preferably a jacket) would have been entirely appropriate for the occasion. A woman with class would immediately wrinkle her nose and gasp, "Ruining a good tweed with sparkling thread??? Ugh! Woman´s only taste is when she´s stuffing her face."
"First Lady of Fashion" ??? Bwaaa haaa haaa haa haa LMAO!
The Media Toadies who swab her rump and sit in her lap are just as disgusting and hideous as her and Barry. GOD help us out of this UGLY mess we´re in with these two at the helm and the ass-press at their feet!!!Chewbacca the ugly mooch is an embarassment to this nation and everyone knows it! Wise up ass-press toadies!
My idea of class and elegance runs more to Downton Abbey too. After all, I find the increasingly tighter, shorter cocktail party attire on the FOX NEWS anchorettes ridiculous too. Mooch looked like she always does - hopelessly out of place.
"I´m running for Senate for the same reasons that I ran for Congress," says Rep. Tom Cotton (R-AR), "and for the same reasons that I joined the Army: to serve my country and expand freedom." He´s calling me from his car, minutes after launching his campaign against two-term incumbent Democrat Mark Pryor, vulnerable in the polls despite the fact that he and his family have been an Arkansas political institution for decades. While only a freshman Representative, Cotton has made a strong impression already. His resumé--Harvard, Iraq, Afghanistan, Congress--speaks for itself.
ATLANTA — The most expensive public high school ever built in Georgia opens Wednesday in an old I.B.M. office building. With 11 stories, a 900-car parking deck and views fit for a corporate executive, the school, North Atlanta High, looks very much like the fancy office buildings and glittery shopping strips that populate its Buckhead community. The school cost about $147 million. That is small change compared with the Robert F. Kennedy high school complex in Los Angeles, built in 2010 for $578 million — a figure critics liked to point out was more expensive than
“NBC interviewer-in-chief” Jay Leno joined Lawrence O’Donnell on Tuesday night to preview his sitdown with President Obama, and was remarkably candid about his own political views. Leno reminisced on his long history of interviewing politicians and presidents on his show, and told O’Donnell he likes Obama, admired his remarks on Trayvon Martin, and that personally, he’s a fiscal conservative and a social liberal. Leno said Obama was very “eloquent” talking about Martin and his own racial experiences, praising him for “speaking from the heart.” (Snip) Leno reminisced about his past political interviews, told O’Donnell Rick Perry was “just too narrow-minded
First lady Michelle Obama’s next healthy eating campaign seeks to motivate kids to eat their vegetables with a little help from her friends in hip hop. Her Let’s Move! program has partnered with big names like Dr. Oz, Jordin Sparks, and Doug E. Fresh on 19 songs directed at children and teens at risk for obesity. The group also plans to produce ten music videos from its album Songs for a Healthier America--which have titles like U R What You Eat and Veggie Luv. The album is due out September 2013.
The decision to close a broad swath of American embassies and diplomatic posts across the Middle East in response to a terror threat was not an overreaction, President Barack Obama said Tuesday in his first remarks on the new security precautions. The U.S. security posture throughout the Middle East, and especially in Yemen, was heightened after officials intercepted a message from al Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahiri to a top ally in Yemen telling him to "do something." A worldwide travel alert was issued, along with the slate of embassy and consulate closings. Americans can still plan vacations, Obama said Tuesday,
NEW YORK— There was a time when the neighborhood hospital was a cornerstone of New York City life. But for a growing number of city residents, the trip to have an appendix taken out or get treatment for a broken leg is increasingly being measured in miles rather than blocks. Since 2000, 19 hospitals across the city have closed due to financial pressures, and nos. 20 and 21 are underway. It´s part of a long-simmering trend in health care, experts say: Small, independent hospitals, especially those that serve the poor, are finding it hard to pay the bills.
Jake Tapper peeked recently into that dark room wherein the Obama Administration and its allies in the MSM have consigned the Benghazigate Scandal. Tapper´s was the first and only major report to appear in the MSM, and CNN will air a special on Benghazigate tonight at 10:00 PM EDT. It should be a "must watch" for anyone interested in understanding the event, its genesis, and its consequences. The MSM (except in a blog here) has not touched Tapper´s report, and the special may serve as a second prod to get its members off their collective duffs.
Bubba doesn’t want to touch the NYC mayoral race with a 100-foot poll. Bill Clinton says he and Hillary don´t intend to get within "a hundred miles" of the New York City mayor´s race, using the excuse that they have too many friends who are candidates. “We are a hundred miles from that race and everyone understands that we are not going to be involved as long as our personal friends and people whom we feel obligations are involved,” Clinton told CNN while in Rwanda for the Clinton family foundation.. “Not because it’s a political campaign,
HIROSHIMA, Japan- Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe pledged his best to bring about a nuclear-free world and offered better support for atomic bomb survivors Tuesday. "We Japanese are the only people to have experienced the horror of nuclear devastation in war. As such a people, we bear a responsibility to bring about ´a world without nuclear weapons´ without fail," Abe said in Hiroshima during a ceremony marking the 68th anniversary of the U.S. atomic bombing of the city. In his speech at the ceremony at the Peace Memorial Park, Abe pledged Japan would maintain its three principles of
The big scare seems real enough, but only the terminally unobservant would not notice that the timing of it is awfully convenient for the White House and the fans of the security state. Who would put a leash on the National Security Agency now, with all the static, chatter and high anticipation about what mayhem might (or might not) come down on the Middle East? There’s no evident link between the chatter picked up by the NSA about the big scare, and the cellphone conversations of blue-haired Lutheran grannies in Minnesota, teenage prom queens chattering about their boyfriends
Former President George W. Bush was recovering Tuesday from heart surgery after doctors found a blockage in his artery, a spokesman for the family said. In a written statement, the spokesman said: A “blockage was discovered in an artery in his heart” during his annual physical exam. And another statement from his office said this, Fox News reported: “The procedure was performed successfully this morning, without complication, at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital. President Bush is in high spirits, eager to return home tomorrow and resume his normal schedule on Thursday.”
On Tuesday, CBS This Morning pounced on a new study by the Center for Media and Public Affairs (CMPA) showing that President Obama is now the butt of more jokes on late night TV than any other politician. "Since his re-election, late-night comedians have aimed 300 jokes at the President," CBS´s Jeff Pegues announced. "That´s only 100 fewer than all of those directed at Republican politicians combined." But the real news is how, in two presidential campaigns and in his first term as President, Obama has largely evaded the harsh barbs of TV´s comics.
In 2008 and then again in 2012, after retired four-star General Colin Powell endorsed and then voted for Barack Obama, the former Secretary of State´s sanity was already in question. At least now, after having his email account hacked by high-level security-breacher Guccifer, Colin Powell´s besmirching of the Republican Party´s "shift to the right" and "identity crisis" finally makes sense. It seems that for years the mannerly and always professional Colin Powell has been cyber-comporting with a 46-year-old Romanian European Parliament member, Social Democrat, and past spokesperson for Romanian president Ion Iliescu named Corina Cretu
He thought he was a woman trapped in a man’s body — but it turns out he’s “just another boring straight guy.” ABC News editor Don Ennis strolled into the newsroom in May wearing a little black dress and an auburn wig and announced he was transgender and splitting from his wife. He wanted to be called Dawn. But now he says he suffered from a two-day bout of amnesia that has made him realize he wants to live his life again as Don. “I accused my wife of playing some kind of cruel joke, dressing
WASHINGTON — Former Massachusetts lawmaker Barney Frank revealed that he doesn’t believe in God. During Friday’s appearance on HBO’s “Real Time With Bill Maher,” Frank, who championed the decriminalization of pot while serving in the House of Representatives, admitted to smoking marijuana and being an atheist. “You were in a fairly safe district. You were not one of those congress people who would have to worry about every little thing,” Maher said to Frank. “You could come on this show and sit next to a pot-smoking atheist and it wouldn’t bother you.”
The truth about Benghazi, the Associated Press/James Rosen monitoring, the IRS corruption, the NSA octopus, and Fast and Furious is still not exactly known. Almost a year after the attacks on our Benghazi facilities, we are only now learning details of CIA gun-running, military stand-down orders, aliases of those involved who are still hard to locate, massaged talking points, and the weird jailing of Nakoula Basseley Nakoula. We still do not quite know why Eric Holder’s Justice Department went after the Associated Press or Fox News’s James Rosen — given that members of the administration were themselves illegally leaking
Washington--As hundreds of commuters emerged from Amtrak and commuter trains at Union Station on a recent morning, an armed squad of men and women dressed in bulletproof vests made their way through the crowds. The squad was not with the Washington police department or Amtrak’s police force, but was one of the Transportation Security Administration’s Visible Intermodal Prevention and Response squads — VIPR teams for short — assigned to perform random security sweeps to prevent terrorist attacks at transportation hubs across the United States.(Snip)With little fanfare, the agency best known for airport screenings has vastly expanded its reach
A poll released Friday by Public Policy Polling found that Alaska voters would pick former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton over the state´s former Republican governor, Sarah Palin, if the two women were to face off in the 2016 presidential election. Clinton led with 49 percent in the hypothetical match-up, with Palin at 40 percent, a nine-point gap. As of July 3, Republicans comprised 27 percent of the state´s registered voters and Democrats made up just 14 percent. The last time Alaskans opted for the Democrats´ presidential candidate was in 1964. Clinton trails five other hypothetical GOP candidates –
In an interview for The Guardian Weekend magazine, actor Matt Damon recently weighed in with his thoughts on how President Barack Obama has handled the scandals that have engulfed his administration since the spring. Damon, a vocal supporter of the president since his 2008 campaign for national office, said that Obama is overcompensating for his lack of military background with his tough response to controversies like how the government is responding to National Security Agency leaker Edward Snowden. The actor said that Obama is allowing himself to “get bullied” and is acting as though is “manhood”
Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus threatened to pull the group’s partnership with NBC and CNN for 2016 GOP presidential primary debates if the networks moved ahead with plans to air films on Hillary Clinton. “If they have not agreed to pull this programming prior to the start of the RNC’s Summer Meeting on August 14, I will seek a binding vote stating that the RNC will neither partner with these networks in 2016 primary debates nor sanction primary debates they sponsor,” Preibus said in a statement. In individual letters to CNN President Jeff Zucker and NBC Chairman Robert Greenblatt,
The Pentagon has placed its elite cadre of special operations teams on full alert to launch preemptive attacks against suspected al Qaeda targets across the globe, according to reports. The American special forces teams have spent the past week waiting for U.S. military and intelligence officials to confirm the whereabouts of the terror cell plotting to attack U.S. diplomatic outposts in the Mideast and North Africa. Unnamed sources told CNN on Monday that the teams were poised to carry out the preemptive strikes, but declined to comment on where the U.S. forces were located or which potential
Oprah Winfrey on Monday said the killings of Trayvon Martin and Emmett Till are the "same thing." This transpired during an interview with The Grio that aired on NBC´s Today show. OPRAH WINFREY: It´s so easy during this time: Trayvon Martin, Trayvon Martin parallel to Emmett Till, let me just tell you. In my mind, same thing. But you can, you can get stuck in that and not allow yourself to move forward and to see how far we´ve come. Really? Martin and Till are the same thing?
In an exclusive interview for The Grio, NBCUniversal’s African-American news and opinion website, Oprah Winfrey weighed in with her unvarnished thoughts on the killing of Trayvon Martin and the acquittal of George Zimmerman. Winfrey said that, in her mind, Martin’s murder and that of Emmett Till in 1955 – whose killers were also acquitted – were the “same thing.” However, she added that it is important to keep in mind how much race relations in America have progressed over the last half-century. In a clip of the interview which aired on NBC’s Today, Oprah told The Grio’s Chris
Two Republican senators said Tuesday that they´ve personally urged the Egyptian government to release Muslim Brotherhood prisoners, after hosting meetings with top officials in Cairo as part of an Obama administration-sanctioned visit. Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., who is in Cairo along with Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-.S.C., made clear that the two U.S. lawmakers are representing the views of Congress and "do not speak for the White House." Still, they are among the most prominent U.S. representatives in the country this week, as a wave of international mediators tries to nudge the country´s military-backed government to resolve the standoff
