U.S. Attorney testifying for
gun control: I don’t know
what causes gun violence

Washington Examiner, by Joel Gehrke

Original Article

Posted By:KarenJ1, 2/12/2013 11:26:15 AM

Timothy Heaphy, a U.S. Attorney testifying in favor of tightening gun control laws, admitted that he couldn’t explain why some places with tight gun laws have high crime while others have low crime. “I can’t say that I know what causes gun violence,” Heaphy told the Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on the Constitution, Civil Rights and Human Rights as he called for lawmakers to find the “sweet spot” between Second Amendment rights and the need for public safety. “It’s very difficult to isolate one cause and tie it very specifically to our crime rate,” he said.

How surprising. He can´t back his assertions with any facts. s/o

Hmmm . . . could it be that "tight" gun laws have taken guns from legal gun owners? Criminals, gang-bangers, druggies, don´t care about any "tight" gun laws and just do what they do? Do we have smart government employees (U.S. Attorneys) or not? jes´ sayin´

Black and hispanic (and in california, asian) gangs fighting over drug sales turf represent a major cause of gun violence.
I am astonished that a U.S. attorney is unable to see that.

I fear for the USA when these morons have been promoted beyond their capacity and are in charge of making decisions I have to live (or die) with.

Timothy needs to be demoted back to law clerk or paralegal to get the experience necessary to make decisions - voting Present doesn´t cut it...

FTA: "Heaphy was responding to Sen. Mazie Hirono, D-Hawaii, who asked him if there are any studies about whether violence goes down when there a looser gun laws. Hirono also mentioned that Chicago and Washington, D.C., have strict gun laws but high crime, whereas Hawaii has strict gun laws and low crime."

Low crime rate in Hawaii? Just because the local PD does not take a report, or follow up does not infer a low crime rate.

Just ask a "Haole" about how ´safe´ Hawaii is.......

It´s so simple, Democrats can´t see it. Some cultures have no crime and others do. Does any of them get that truth? Do they ever look at different cultures to see why or try to find what makes them different? No! Why?
Because our culture of death, driven by lying politicians and a media that wants to sell their products and ideologies has coarsened and demeaned and violated everything that´s remotely sacred; is why. They are at fault so they REFUSE TO SEE IT. Literally, everything that was once held sacred has been mocked, ridiculed and violated... including life.
It´s our society STUPID! We´ve removed God and replaced Him with secularism and the immorality that comes with it. Government protects the right to destroy the lives we don’t want, ignores the Constitution, taxes churches and make criminals out of law abiding citizens; while putting their protective hand around the lazy, the violent and the criminal. Marketing destroys our children’s minds, selling sex and violence for a profit, turning our girls into wannabe prostitutes and our boys into irresponsible punks.

Er, ´scuse me #6, don´t knock the law clerks and paralegals. They´re often the folks who burn the midnight oil on hard research work in a law office and often know more than the lawyers and judges. And they know that gun violence is caused in part by laws that are loosely or not enforced. They also know that the desire to misuse a gun does not usually stem from a strong family with respect for guns--and people.

Another thing they know: 90 percent of the crime comes from 10 percent of the addresses. Not sure of the current exact statistic but used to be for years that 80 percent of the crime is committed by 13 percent of the population and 80% of that 80% is black on black. That demographic just happens to have the highest unmarried mother rate--72 percent with some saying it´s as high as 90 percent in the big cities.

Enabling those households with generous handouts, and little or no serious requirement for the mothers to work even part-time, with all the baggage of the welfare machine, only exacerbates the crime problem.

The US Attorney knows damn well what causes gun crime, just as we at Lucianne have known for years, it just doesn´t fit what ODL wants it to be. I.e., racism, classism, or any other ism he can hang on it.

1. Stupidity is inherited, but I´m still hoping it´s not communicable.

2. Timmy either slept through his Constitution course[s], or had really incompetent [and/or agenda-driven -- hmm, where´s the difference?] lecturers/TAs/Profs. There are no "Constitutional rights" in or under the 2nd Amendment. But there are inalienable rights that the 2nd recognizes. Inconveniently for this latest generation of domestic tyrants, inalienable rights precede the Constitution and are by definition beyond its reach, as they are inseparable from individual sovereignty and liberty.

3. If he´s s-o-o-o stoopit he "can´t say what causes gun violence" [and posters catch him out in that "claim"], let´s all be glad he didn´t get into med school.

Obama’s Blood-Soaked ‘Reset’ with Russia

The abject naiveté with which President Barack Obama’s administration approached America’s relationship with Russia after coming to power was timidly underscored by its campaign-like slogan: “Reset.” In theory, this “reset” was to be an abandonment of the confrontational, “cowboy” diplomacy of the Bush years, but in practice it amounted to excess deference to Moscow and the creation of space designed to allow the Kremlin to pursue what it regards as its national interests. The abandonment of American interests in an effort to provide Moscow with reparations for the perceived offenses of the previous eight years has evolved from puerile and

In the weeks since the so-called “Hillary Papers” hit media outlets, many on the left have been complaining that discussion of Bill Clinton’s affairs is sexist. Those recently published papers included documents and personal diaries from Hillary Clinton’s late-friend Diane Blair. Tonight on The Kelly File, Megyn Kelly spoke to a former President Clinton aide who claims he sexually harassed her. Her name came up in the Hillary Papers, when a then-little known journalist, Matt Drudge, wrote a report about Kathleen Willey. Willey believes President Clinton’s misconduct is relevant to Hillary’s potential presidential run. “Hillary Clinton is the war on women, and I

The award honors those who have shown leadership and commitment to ”challenging and eliminating racism” and “empowering others to seek social justice,” said the e-mail obtained by The Daily Caller. The award was created in 2012 to honor the 17-year-old African American who was shot by George Zimmerman, a neighborhood watch volunteer, in Florida. Though Zimmerman was widely accused of racial profiling, the jury ultimately found him not guilty of murder.

There´s a debate going on about Hillary Clinton´s past. If she runs for president in 2016, should Republicans reach back to the scandals of her years as First Lady? Or should they focus on more recent times, especially her tenure as Secretary of State, to build a case against her? The GOP doesn´t have to choose. Of course Clinton´s recent experiences are relevant to a presidential run. But so are her actions in the 90s, the 80s and even the 70s. It´s not ancient history; it reveals something about who Clinton was and still is. And re-examining her past is entirely consistent with practices in recent campaigns. In the 2012 presidential race,
