Most high school kids spend very little time learning anything. Catch the bus for school at 7 am and start school at 8 am. Seven passing periods between 8 classes means kids spend 35 minutes a day in the halls. Lunch and home room announcements another hour. Taking classes´ attendances at least 40 minutes a day. Who knows how much time wasted by disruptive students in classes? Another hour getting home on the bus. Out of a nine hour day, less than half spent leaning. And what were they being taught?

So many parents have no idea what their children are being taught in govenment schools. The liberal takeover began in the 1960´s. As a result, today we have adults without knowledge of history, civics or economics and lacking the ability to think. Never mind that they cannot spell, read or comprehend beyond a 6 grade level.

In the early days of our country, the purpose of setting up government schools was to educate people just enough to perform jobs in factories and shops. Workers were needed who could read and follow instructions. The level of knowledge was to be kept low enough that people could function at a job, but not be a threat to government politicians. Public schools are not to educate children well enough that they grow up and challenge those who want control. It is working.

We adopted two kids from Ethiopia. They arrived home with little English, but no racist attitudes. We spent a year teaching them English, and sent one off to public school, followed a year later by the other.

The school taught them racism - in the name of teaching tolerance. They spend a month reading out of a book about how horribly a black is treated by whites, and suddenly, for one hour at the end of the book, the racist attitudes of the antagonists gives what to understanding and harmony. Then, on to the next book, where they repeat the cycle.
I pointed it out to one teacher, who was amazed when she examined it, that it was indeed what was going on. So now my kids think racism is what white people do.
And this is one goal, I truly believe, of the "teaching tolerance" curriculum. It grinds every kids face into a sad section of history and some fictionalized events, and paints every white as a racist, every black as a victim, and every other stereotype´s foundation is laid.

And let´s not get started on how they DON´T teach reading, or math, or anything remotely accurate on American history...

Excellent article. I could not agree more. Any republican who foolishly continues to publicly support public education is part of the problem. Besides, public education is nothing more than a money laundering scheme for the Democrat Party. Plus it gives the Democrat party a tax funded army of supporters in all fifty states to the point of being the primary employer in most small communities. Cheers

#3, In honor of black history month my son is reading Joel Chandler Harris´ Complete Tales of Uncle Remus. He will also read biographies on George Washington Carver, Frederick Douglass, Booker T. Washington and I´m considering whether he´s ready for Harriet Beecher Stowe.

The amazing thing is that during black history month, all of these books are available at my public library.

Do everything you can to get your children, and your grandchildren, out of the public schools.

There is no hope left for public schools, none. Don´t deceive yourselves that there are still "good" public schools in some of the leafy suburbs.

While those "good" public schools in leafy suburbs may not be quite as hellish as public schools in urban areas, they´re still infested with legions of lost souls who are taking drugs, engaging in "edgy" sex, and enticing your child to do the same.

They´re also infested with Leftist teachers who teach your children to reject you -- and all that is precious and sacred to you.

Even the few remaining decent public school teachers are stuck with Leftist curricula. They must either teach it, or retire. Most good teachers have retired already.

The "public schools" are actually the "government-run" schools. A private option is superior.

Don´t think a private school is necessarily better than a public school. Most of the teachers were educated the same way as public school teachers. The administrators want to be respected in the education "community." You have to find a school that is deliberately counter culture and still watch carefully what it is doing.

When we sent our daughter to school after eight years of homeschooling, we didn´t have much choice of private schools in our area. We decided on a small Christian school which turned out pretty good educationally -- no liberal nonsense, no touchy-feely stuff, no perverted sex education -- but their religious beliefs were not ours and I thought them toxic. For one example: They had a bonfire night at which the students threw "bad" books like Harry Potter into the fire. After two years we put her in the local Catholic prep school. That had some good points, like classes in theology and philosophy, but the quality of the teachers wasn´t spectacular and they were not too different from public school teachers. I would have preferred to keep home schooling her, but she was too social and an only child, and it wasn´t working once she entered her teens.
