| The mother of the 15-year-old honor student who was shot dead days after performing at President Obama´s inauguration spoke out for more gun control Monday after police arrested two gang members for her daughter´s death. ´My baby deserves a revolution and I pray that what happened her to her will have an impact,´ said Cleopatra Cowley, whose daughter, Hadiya Pendleton, was killed the Chicago home of President Obama by a stray bullet. Michael Ward, 18, and Kenneth Williams, 20, are now charged with one count of first-degree murder, two counts of attempted murder and aggravated battery with a firearm,

These were probably unregistered guns which would never be registered. Criminals don´t register guns.
So her desire wouldn´t do diddly.
All the gun control advocates don´t realize the quantity of guns which would be left in criminals possession after law abiding citizens were relieved of their guns.

This has nothing to do with nothing, but I saw a picture of her and I believe she was either wearing a mink coat or a very good looking faux mink coat. Where´s Peta?
Who would she like to be in her daughter´s revolution? Blacks on blacks? Blacks on whites? I don´t think whites have anything to do with the killing in her town except for her white mayor who is either unwilling or unable to make it stop.

WGN had an exclusive last night with the father and his instant reaction to an arrest, poisoning the jury pool. Any defense attorney (Southern Poverty Law Center) would instantly demand a change of venue and 24 hour protection for his clients. In a week, this will be off the news as a plea arrangement is quietly made. No gun charges will be filed.

Gun control is only to hurt honest men and women. It helps the criminal and the dictators. Easy to attack the NRA when the problem is within the black community itself. No one is causing girls to have children. No one is causing the culture to glorify gangsta rap. No one but the entertainment field is to blame for promoting degrading of females and violence. Obama cares nothing about anyone. If he loved his ´people´ he would help them take responsibility. But the Evil One is only interested in power. I have a scorn for those who seek personal power..no matter what label they put after their name.

She is wrong. It takes more than a revolution. It takes repentance & a turning back to God. These young lives are being lost because many prefer lawlessness to godliness. No number of human laws are going to fix gangs until the black community recognizes its responsibility in allowing black marriages to die.

But if you want money for people with minds that hate All I can tell you is brother you have to wait
You say you´ll change the Constitution Well you know We all want to change your head
You tell me it´s the institution Well you know You better free your mind instead
But if you go carrying pictures of Chairman Mao You ain´t going to make it with anyone anyhow
What the Left needs is a revolution of thought, but they seek a revolution of violence that they purport to abhor.

The revolution that Cleoptra is calling for has to be in stopping the liberal view that blacks are perpetual children, or worse, inferior to the white race. Viewing American born blacks as a group that can´t be expected to accept our mores and cultural values provides liberals (Democrats) endless excuses to blame America for the crime, the astounding illegitimacy rates and the endless dehumanizing behavior,
While liberals will bristle at the charge, the obvious failure of so many blacks to accept the norms of Western society is overlooked. Instead, Dutch slavers in 1690 are at fault, not the people born here 300 years later.

#18, I will have to file that line away for future use.
OP, "sic" is only used to mock people at churches and Tea Party rallies who dare to misspeak.
That having been said, what that child deserved was to be raised in a decent neighborhood without feral animals roaming the streets. My parents had to move a lot because of my father´s job, and they often would select a modest house in the town with safe streets and great schools, instead of living in a much larger place in a bad neighborhood. When parents make sacrifices for their kids, those sacrifices pay off. The decesased young lady´s mother does not look like one to make sacrifices for anyone. Now she can join the Gabby Giffords-Mark Kelly Express and make a buck off of her misfortune.

It is a shame when someone is killed and someone is promising as this young lady was. But, you need to start cleaning up your neighborhoods, maybe you should have moved if it was so dangerous, maybe you should have spoken up and demanded gang violence be stopped, maybe you could have worked with the police to identify gang members. Start in the inner city neighborhoods and that is where the revolution you desire against guns should start.

The city failed to keep a public park it knew was near a school safe for the community. It allowed a gang to take over the space. That is what set the stage for Hadiya´s murder. I would be delighted to see zero tolerance for gangs. They are criminal enterprises, and there´s not a doubt in my mind that Hadiya´s killers have rap sheets showing one slap on the wrist after another, rather than serious punishment.

My sympathies on the loss of your bright and lovely daughter, Ms. Cowley. I know nothing could be more difficult. But the "revolution" that could save lives is not gun control, it´s a cultural revolution that needs to happen in the inner cities. Stop protecting the gangster rappers and film makers. Stop protecting those who elevate thugs.

#39, we "should care" whether the inner-city mother wears fur and has a smart phone because it shows they may have had the financial resources to live elsewhere, but chose to stay in a troubled area. That illustrates they do have control over their destiny. I also noticed the *diamond* studs in her ears, and purple eyeshadow. Who goes into full fashion/make-up mode to attend their child´s funeral?
PS: Also noted the mother and daughter had different last names.

Last month, the Supreme Court decided to allow the importation and resale of foreign editions of American works, which are often cheaper than domestic editions. Until now, courts have forbidden such activity as a violation of copyright. Not only does this ruling open the gates to a surge in cheap imports, but since they will be sold in a secondary market, authors won’t get royalties. The nation’s employers increased their payrolls by 88,000 last month, compared with 268,000 in February, according to a Labor Department report released Friday. The unemployment rate, which comes from a different survey, ticked down to 7.6 percent from 7.7 percent. Tokyo—The Bank of Japan [8301.JA +4.83%] is pulling out all the stops to get the economy out of deflation, its new governor said, after the central bank rolled out aggressive easing measures that surprised markets, pushing bond yields to an all-time low and boosting share prices. At his inaugural policy board meeting Thursday, Haruhiko Kuroda convinced the nine-member panel to agree to a major expansion of government bond purchases, including buying longer-term debt, which is designed to drive down longer-term rates. The BOJ also broke free from some self-imposed limits that the previous leadership under Masaaki Shirakawa adhered to.

Istanbul--The blue-glass skyscrapers of Moscow City — fragments of Russia’s boom-time dream — are visible from the Kremlin walls, within which there was once hope that those towers could supplant the West’s financial centers. When the sun sets behind them, you can see that many of the offices lie empty. In fact, the real hubs for Russian banking are in other countries. Moscow’s billionaires squirrel their fortunes abroad, and many businessmen register their companies as British, Dutch, Swiss or Cypriot — anything but Russian. Nicosia, Cyprus--When European finance chiefs explained their harsh terms for rescuing Cyprus this week, many blamed the tiny Mediterranean nation’s wayward banking practices for bringing ruin on itself. But the path that led to Cyprus’s current crisis — big banks bereft of money, a government in disarray and citizens filled with angry despair — leads back, at least in part, to a fateful decision made 17 months ago by the same guardians of financial discipline that now demand that Cyprus shape up.

The Cypriot parliament is now scheduled to meet Tuesday at 1600 GMT, house speaker Yannakis Omirou told reporters. The parliament had been due to meet Monday at 1400 GMT as the government sought to push the levy through parliament before banks reopened Tuesday after a three-day bank holiday. Recent research indicates that the number of people who do not consider themselves a part of an organized religion is steadily on the rise. Interestingly enough, though the number of those religiously unaffiliated is increasing, there is little to no trend in the number of those who express atheist or agnostic beliefs. People aren’t saying they don’t believe in God. They’re saying they don’t believe in religion. They are not rejecting Christ. They are rejecting the church. This begs the question, “Why are we losing our religion?”

They´re tired of $100-plus monthly bills. A growing number of them have stopped paying for cable and satellite TV service, and don´t even use an antenna to get free signals over the air. (Snip) Last month, the Nielsen Co. started labeling people in this group "Zero TV" households, because they fall outside the traditional definition of a TV home. There are 5 million of these residences in the U.S., up from

Annette Funicello, the dark-haired darling of TV´s “The Mickey Mouse Club” in the 1950s who further cemented her status as a pop-culture icon in the ´60s by teaming with Frankie Avalon in a popular series of “beach” movies, died Monday. She was 70. Funicello, who was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 1987 and became a spokeswoman for treatment of the chronic, often-debilitating disease of the central nervous system, died at Mercy Southwest Hospital in Bakersfield, Walt Disney Co. spokesman Howard Green said. Beginning a week of high pressure on gun control, the White House on Monday accused some Republican senators of cowardice for planning to filibuster gun legislation without allowing the full Senate to vote on President Obama’s initiatives. “If they oppose this legislation, have the courage to say so on the floor and vote no,” said White House press secretary Jay Carney. “Don’t block it. Don’t hide behind a procedural action to prevent a vote. That’s the wrong thing to do, and that’s how the president clearly feels.”

Chelsea Clinton has raised her profile in the last few days, which sparked the inevitable question about the former first daughter´s future: Will she ever be like Mom and Dad and run for office? Clinton, 33, essentially said "maybe" in an interview that aired Monday on NBC´s Today show. "Right now I´m grateful to live in a city, a state and a country where I strongly support my mayor, my governor, my president and my senators and my representative," said Clinton, whose father, Bill, was president from 1993-2001 and her mother, Hillary

More than 700 Special Operations veterans are urging members of Congress to back a select committee to investigate last year’s Benghazi terrorist attack, according to a letter first obtained by Fox News. The letter from the group, “Special Operations Speaks,” supports the appointment of a special committee tasked with the single mission of investigating the attack that left Ambassador Christopher Stevens and three other Americans dead, and shut down the CIA operation in an annex of the Benghazi consulate, in the Sept. 11, 2012 attack. “Congress must show some leadership and provide answers to the public

President Barack Obama is bringing 11 relatives of those killed in the shooting at Connecticut´s Sandy Hook Elementary School to Washington on Air Force One on Monday so they can personally encourage senators to back gun legislation that faces tough opposition. A nonprofit organization that works with the families, Sandy Hook Promise, said that after Obama´s speech on gun control in Hartford, he is flying with relatives of seven children and one staffer killed during December´s massacre at the school. The White House says Obama is going to argue that lawmakers have an

There was growing buzz over the weekend that a bipartisan agreement on gun control — a deal that would expand background checks — could hit the floor as early as this week. However, any deal could be derailed by the looming threat of a Republican filibuster involving Texas Sen. Ted Cruz. With Cruz standing proudly in the way of any gun legislation, Democrats are trying to make him pay a political price — and even a couple of high-profile Republicans are questioning his tactics.

Amid all of the very real threats of war and stuff from North Korea, you´d think American intelligence officers want as much video footage of the enemy as possible. Well, here is one video featuring North Korean exercises and Kim Jong-Un holding a gun, and we´ll say this: they certainly get points for presentation. Remember the clap-happy report from Dennis Rodman´s diplomatic basketball vacation? This video comes courtesy of the same Youtube channel that gave us that Rodman video. It appears to be the same state news channel.(Snip for video)This latest dispatch from North Korea´s state television
