The Menendez Mess, Continued
New York Times, by Dorothy Samuels

Original Article

Posted By:StormCnter, 2/12/2013 4:48:31 AM

In the time-honored tradition of ballooning Washington money scandals, details keep emerging about the symbiotic relationship between Senator Robert Menendez and a Florida eye-surgeon and big donor named Dr. Salomon Melgen. The evidence that the New Jersey Democrat improperly used his office to help Dr. Melgen was already compelling on Saturday. That’s when we called in an editorial for Mr. Menendez to step aside as chairman of the Senate Foreign Committee, at least temporarily, pending a credible review by the Senate Ethics Committee of the various accusations of misconduct against him.

I wonder if the New York Times could tell us in advance what offense by Menendez could rise to the level of expulsion from the Senate? I bet the Slimes can´t name it.

"ballooning Washington money scandals"

There should be no such thing as a ballooning scandal in the Capital. A scandal, malfeasance, unethical behavior, criminal activity, etc. should be enough for a politician to be in prison. Period. These dirty, rotten, rat-faced, law breaking, pond-scum sucking, worthless, lying, federal teat sucking, SOBs from both sides of the aisle have done nothing but line their own pockets and protect their comrades at cost to tax payers and citizens. Someone needs to call Roto-Rooter, stat! They can begin in Congress and continue on through the media houses.

Eric Holder’s liberal chickens are coming home to roost in Arizona. And in a West Hollywood gay bar. The Los Angeles Times is helping. While a Harvard student demands an end to academic freedom. All of this in the name of the religion of liberalism. Let’s start with the attorney general of the United States, who has made it abundantly clear that a state attorney general who doesn’t like his or her state’s gay marriage law doesn’t have to enforce it. Fox News reported Holder’s decision this way: Attorney General Eric Holder has given the nod to his state counterparts that they do

Against my better judgment I took a look at the recent update of the despicable Southern Poverty Law Center’s “hate map.” One of the groups I hadn’t noticed before, listed as “anti-LGBT,” was the Catholic Family and Human Rights Institute (C-FAM). I was unfamiliar with it so I looked it up; maybe it was a kook outfit like the Westboro “Baptist” “Church.” After all, just because the SPLC calls something a “hate group” doesn’t mean it’s not. You won’t be surprised to learn that C-FAM is a mainstream conservative group, devoted to keeping an eye on the antics of the U.N.

Earlier this week, inside a ballroom at the luxury Mandarin Oriental hotel in D.C., President Obama met with Organizing for America. OFA, as it’s called for short, raised $26 million last year, much of it from an assortment of heirs, heiresses, hedge funders, and Hollywood executives. OFA is the president’s advocacy group, charged with rounding up support for his gun control, immigration, minimum wage, and climate change initiatives. It has not been having much success. The headline from this week’s summit was the president’s remark that OFA volunteers are doing “God’s work.” Nothing, though, on who was in the audience during

Many Republicans—and a handful of independent commentators like George Washington University professor Jonathan Turley—have been highly critical of President Obama’s executive branch overreach. The president has arbitrarily delayed, deferred, or ignored provisions of numerous laws, none more so than his signature Obamacare legislation. There is indeed much to criticize; no other president in recent times has usurped congressional lawmaking powers to the extent Barack Obama has. Administration spokesmen have defended these actions by pointing out that other presidents have also issued executive orders. But President Obama’s actions are less like executive orders in the usual sense of the term than

The federal government spent more on broken state-run exchanges than it did on its own troubled system. Of the 14 states, plus the District of Columbia, that established their own health insurance coverage under Obamacare, seven remain dysfunctional, disabled, or severely underperforming. Development of those exchanges was funded heavily by the federal government through a series of grants that totaled more than $1.2 billion—almost double the $677 million cost of development for the federal exchange. Here´s a rundown of the troubled state exchanges and the federal grants they qualified for. Oregon No exchange failed more fully or more spectacularly than Cover Oregon.

For months, the key question about the upcoming midterm congressional elections has been whether Republicans can overcome their six-seat deficit to become the majority party in the US Senate. Now the question has changed somewhat — to whether the surprising strength of Republican candidates in states once considered long shots for the GOP portends disaster for Democrats hobbled by ObamaCare and the president’s weak approval ratings. No one doubted the GOP would come close or better than close to a Senate takeover in November. But every day, the map looks more favorable for the Republicans. Harry Reid has chosen to defame those who speak out about their giant, life-threatening problems with Obamacare, but what of the thousand daily headaches the law is causing due to bad design, unintended but entirely predictable consequences, and the error cascade that followed the exchanges’ disastrous launch? Sen. Harry Reid would call these mere trifles since he’s willing to dismiss women with cancer losing their coverage. But I don’t think it’s politically wise to argue that that the people living this stuff every day are not really living
