Goes to the (Westminster) Dogs

ABC News, by Genevieve Shaw Brown

New York City is known for posh hotels. But one particular establishment is proud to go – at least for one weekend a year – to the dogs. "The Hotel Pennsylvania is the heart and soul of the Westminster Dog Show," said dog breeder Judy Davis as we stood in the hotel´s Green Room Dog Spa, an area in the basement Davis created. "Everyone knows they can congregate here and be welcome." The Hotel Pennsylvania, located right across the street from Madison Square Garden, where Tuesday´s Best in Show competition takes place, is the official host hotel of

On Monday, the Eliot Spitzer campaign announced it had hired Lis Smith, former Director of Rapid Response for Obama´s reelection, as a spokesperson. It is the second Obama campaign veteran Spitzer has hired for his political comeback race for NYC Comptroller. Sources have told Breitbart News the staffing up of PR specialists is due to growing rumors that Spitzer is engaged in an affair with a married woman. Spitzer was forced to resign as Governor of the Empire State after revelations surfaced that he was a frequent client of a high-end prostitution network. McAuliffe’s GreenTech company

Virginia candidate for governor Terry McAuliffe bypassed state law to acquire land for his “green car” factory in Mississippi and invited President Obama to attend an event for the company that subsequently bogged down in a wide-ranging scandal. Documents obtained by Cause of Action through a Freedom of Information Act request indicate Obama considered attending the rollout of GreenTech Automotive’s first electric car. McAuliffe was the chairman of the company, but quietly resigned in December 2012. GreenTech is currently embroiled in a scandal over the company’s EB-5 visas. Teamsters Ordered to Stop

A judge ordered one of Chicago’s most politically powerful labor unions to suspend picketing against 16 funeral homes last week after receiving reports that striking Teamsters had, among other things, disturbed a child’s funeral. SCI Illinois Services, Inc., one of the nation’s largest funeral home chains, asked a district court to intervene after striking funeral directors and drivers with Teamsters Local 727 allegedly harassed grieving families. “We are grateful that the court agreed to issue this temporary restraining order, and we are hopeful that it will help protect grieving families who are experiencing the most difficult times of their lives,”

Huma partly blamed herself over

Serial sexter Anthony Weiner’s wife partly blamed herself last year when her horndog husband confessed to her that he was at it again. Friends and family told People magazine that Huma Abedin was kicking herself at the time for bailing out of couples counseling and focusing more on their newborn baby boy. But, thanks to a new round of joint therapy that continues even now, the couple was able to put the relapse behind them. “They really became a unit, and she feels much closer to Anthony now,” a relative told the magazine. That’s a long way from how Abedin

Is Sharpton Blaming

Bill O’Reilly has been on a justified tear against the “grievance industry” and its CEO, Al Sharpton. Sharpton fired back on his low-rated MSNBC show Tuesday, and sounded like he was blaming Trayvon Martin’s parents and the Sanford police — anyone but himself and his own choice to get involved and make it a huge racial moment. If the justice system wasn’t so biased towards minorities, Sharpton argued, then maybe he wouldn’t have to express so many grievances. “If the police in Sanford had acted justly, maybe Trayvon Martin’s parents wouldn’t have had a grievance

Pew poll: GOP voters have a fee-vah

I think he’s going to end up not running, but if his favorables stay this high, maybe he has no choice. He’s technically “next in line” and he’d make a decent compromise candidate (as would fellow Wisconsinite Scott Walker) for righties who are leery of Christie, Paul, and Rubio for various reasons. Second look at Paul Ryan? Are Ryan’s numbers really that surprising? He’s been overlooked on blogs lately because we’ve all been busy shaking our fists at Rubio over immigration and gawking at the Rand Paul/Chris Christie brawl, but thanks to 2012, Ryan’s name recognition is sky high.

Sarah Palin´s PAC funds
consultants but few candidates
USA Today, by Fredreka Schouten    Original Article

WASHINGTON — Sarah Palin´s leadership PAC spent nearly $500,000 during the first six months of the year, and made just one donation to a political candidate, new campaign filings show. Much of Sarah PAC´s money went to operating expenses, including more than $217,000 paid to consultants and more than $124,000 on postage and mailings. More than $48,000 covered airfare and other travel expenses. Palin, the GOP´s 2008 vice presidential nominee and former Alaska governor, recently said she has "considered" mounting a Senate challenge next year to Alaska´s Democratic Sen. Mark Begich, one of his party´s most vulnerable incumbents.

The San Diego City Council voted unanimously Tuesday to file a lawsuit against Mayor Bob Filner to recover any money the city has to pay due to the sexual harassment lawsuit filed by a former top aide to the mayor. The suit will seek to recover any damages ordered by the court, or agreed to as part of a pretrial settlement, arising from the lawsuit filed against the city and Filner by the mayor´s former director of communications, Irene McCormack Jackson. The vote was taken in closed session. "This is part of due process," City Atty. Jan Goldsmith said.

The cruelly misunderstood Anthony Weiner has “no idea” if he’s about to be stabbed by another stiletto heel. “These are people who I thought were friends, people I trusted when I communicated with them,” he told Denis Hamill of The Daily News. “But who knows what they might do now?” Yes, who knows? Free-spirited young women having digital sex with a well-known politician who loves to expose himself and talk raunchy can be so damnably unpredictable and untrustworthy. The delusional Weiner, who has turned shamelessness into performance art, was expecting the sexual equivalent of honor among thieves.

Detroit Bankruptcy Could

The retirees that cities like Detroit are trying to push into Obamacare’s health insurance exchanges could drive up the premiums in the exchanges and swell costs to the federal government, experts say. Detroit, which has filed for bankruptcy, is trying to reduce its liabilities by pushing retirees who are too young for Medicare onto the federal healthcare exchange set up through the Affordable Care Act, the New York Times reported on Sunday. The retirees could then buy their own insurance with help from federal subsidies. Detroit’s move comes as part of its bankruptcy proceedings, but it is not the first city

Arizona Sen. John McCain was the Republican Party´s 2008 presidential nominee and he still wants the keys to the Oval Office. But he is beginning to sound more like a fan of likely 2016 Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton. "She´s a rock star," he said in a newly released interview. "She has, maybe not glamour, but certainly the aura of someone widely regarded throughout the world," he added in a reference to her work as secretary of State. Gotta figure her lead would be even bigger without Joe Miller in the field here. Her nomination for the taking? Alaska should be a top tier pick up opportunity for Senate Republicans next year…but their top choice of a candidate is Sarah Palin. 36% of GOP primary voters in the state say they’d like Palin to be their standard bearer against Mark Begich to 26% for Mead Treadwell, 15% for Dan Sullivan, and 12% for Joe Miller.

Embattled Internal Revenue Service official Lois Lerner and an attorney in the Federal Election Commission’s general counsel’s office appear to have twice colluded to influence the record before the FEC’s vote in the case of a conservative non-profit organization, according to e-mails unearthed by the House Ways and Means Committee and obtained exclusively by National Review Online. The correspondence suggests the discrimination of conservative groups extended beyond the IRS and into the FEC, where an attorney from the agency’s enforcement division in at least one case sought and received tax information about the status of a conservative group,

Sen. John McCain — a Democrat? There was confusion Wednesday after the Arizona Republican mistakenly strolled into President Obama’s meeting with Senate Democrats at the Capitol. The room full of Democrats — who happened to be meeting in the same room where the Senate GOP usually holds their weekly policy luncheons — erupted in applause and laughter as the former Republican presidential candidate made his entrance. As McCain, 76, walked out of the Dem-filled space, reporters pressed him as to why he stepped foot in the room.

If we learned anything about Barack Obama in his first term it is that when he starts repeating the same idea over and over, what´s on his mind is something else. The first term´s over-and-over subject was "the wealthiest 1%." Past some point, people wondered why he kept beating these half-dead horses. After the election, we knew. It was to propagandize the targeted voting base that would provide his 4% popular-vote margin of victory—very young voters and minorities. They believed. He won. The second-term over-and-over, elevated in his summer speech tour, is the shafting of the middle class. But
