Pope´s Unselfish Choice Gives
Church Chance For New Voices

Investor´s Business Daily, by E.. J. Dionne

Original Article

Posted By:Emerson, 2/11/2013 10:56:16 PM

Pope Benedict´s resignation shouldn´t have surprised us as much as it did. As an institutionalist who believes in the Roman Catholic Church as the carrier of truth in a sinful world, he would worry a great deal about the impact of his own infirmities on the institution´s capacity to thrive. He is a traditionalist who was nonetheless much affected by modernity. He would therefore not be troubled that he had to reach far back to find a precedent for papal resignation.

The fact Dionne of the Bloody Hands is so enthusiastic tells you all you need to know. The pro-abortion wing of the Church is salivating at the opportunity to exert more pressure on future popes by quoting the Benedict example, and also if possible to take it over right now. Note Mr. Dionne: if Benedict dies of a broken heart for what his successor does, this precedent will not have credibility to future popes. Bear it in mind. And don´t bother trying to clarify that you are privately pro-life. It doesn´t matter at all.

It´s beyond a sickening feeling that we could wind up with a pro abortion, pro gay new pope.My guess is a lot of people would leave the church if that happened and that would make the left deliriously happy.

Catholics do not believe the Holy Spirit inspires the selection of a pope. We believe the Holy Spirit protects the pope from teaching error ex cathedra. When the pope makes a formal statement ex cathedra, from the seat of Peter the Holy Spirit protects him from teaching error. There may have been three occasions in history that this has happened. The pundits are babbling nonsense as usual. There has not been a single intelligent thing said or written about the resignation.

Lightning strikes St Peters. What a sign. I lookup to the Catholic Church and it´s stand for religious freedom in the U.S. The protesant movement in the US is almost dead. Not one of the Protesant Churches are standing with the Catholic Church. Need I say anymore. Do you stand for life or do you march to the drum of the devil. Hopefully, the new Pope will be a leader for a rebirth of religion in the World. This is my prayer.

It is such a comfort to know that the selection of the next Pope will in no way be determined by opinion columns, biased reporting, ABCCBSNBCCNN, skewed opinion polls, or twitter bombs. We don´t need to call fax email or post anything to facebook.

I´ll be praying for the Cardinals and of course Pope Benedict.

Former Rep. Mel Reynolds is expected to be freed and deported from Zimbabwe as early as Tuesday after pornography charges were dropped Friday and he pleaded guilty to a visa violation. Reynolds´ lawyer, Arthur Gurira, said his client remained in jail in the southern African country but could be released Tuesday or Wednesday after immigration authorities complete deportation paperwork. “The papers are being processed,” Gurira said. “Once that´s done, he´ll be free.” Asked if Reynolds would be bound for Chicago, the lawyer said: “I wouldn´t know.”

SOCHI, Russia — The official mascots for the Winter Olympics are a polar bear, a hare and a leopard. But walk around the complexes that will stage the Games here, with the opening ceremony Friday, and what seem more apt are a hand drill, a backhoe and a shovel. Much of Sochi is a work in progress, and parts of it look at least a dozen all-nighters away from completion. There are unfinished hotels, half-finished stores and a mall where the only shop that is open and thriving is a Cinnabon. Wander the premises over the course of a day

Justin Bieber’s mansion reportedly was stuffed with drugs and paraphernalia when cops rolled up to serve an egging-related search warrant last week. Two large cookie jars loaded with marijuana sat in plain view of the dozen detectives from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, an unidentified source told TMZ.com. The notorious party palace also contained four or five empty codeine bottles along with empty Fanta bottles, TMZ said. The Fanta bottles appeared to be discolored by the codeine, a sign they were used to mix the narcotic drink Sizzurp, also called “lean.” Luckily for the Biebs, the deputies were raiding the house for surveillance

Jeff Ireland is out as the Miami Dolphins´ general manager. The team announced Tuesday it has mutually agreed to part ways with Ireland, who had been a controversial figure since being named GM in 2008. (Snip) The Dolphins haven´t been to the playoffs since 2008, finishing 7-9, 7-9, 6-10, 7-9 and 8-8 since. They needed to win one of their final two games to make the postseason this season but lost to the Buffalo Bills and New York Jets. That cost offensive coordinator Mike Sherman his job Monday and surely contributed to Ireland's ouster a day later.

ISTANBUL — A corruption investigation that has encircled the Turkish government moved an ominous step closer to Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Wednesday, as three top ministers whose sons have been implicated abruptly resigned — and one of them, on his way out the door, said Mr. Erdogan should step down as well. The resignations, coming only hours after the ministers welcomed Mr. Erdogan at the Ankara airport as he returned from Pakistan late on Tuesday, were enough to inspire new talk of a deepening crisis, which Mr. Erdogan has repeatedly denounced as a foreign plot. Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, may be the brightest light to adorn the Republican Party in many years. He knows how to make the case for conservative ideas, pointing, for example, to the contrasting fates of Detroit and Houston to illustrate the superiority of conservative policies. So it´s particularly galling to see that rather than train his fire at President Barack Obama and the liberal machine that cocoons him, Cruz has become a one-man wrecking ball against Republicans. His most recent foray into sabotaging his colleagues concerned the debt limit increase. Because Speaker John Boehner sent over a "clean" debt limit bill,
