| Pope Benedict´s resignation shouldn´t have surprised us as much as it did. As an institutionalist who believes in the Roman Catholic Church as the carrier of truth in a sinful world, he would worry a great deal about the impact of his own infirmities on the institution´s capacity to thrive. He is a traditionalist who was nonetheless much affected by modernity. He would therefore not be troubled that he had to reach far back to find a precedent for papal resignation.

The fact Dionne of the Bloody Hands is so enthusiastic tells you all you need to know. The pro-abortion wing of the Church is salivating at the opportunity to exert more pressure on future popes by quoting the Benedict example, and also if possible to take it over right now. Note Mr. Dionne: if Benedict dies of a broken heart for what his successor does, this precedent will not have credibility to future popes. Bear it in mind. And don´t bother trying to clarify that you are privately pro-life. It doesn´t matter at all.

That was my first thought also #3.
It´s beyond a sickening feeling that we could wind up with a pro abortion,pro gay new pope.My guess is a lot of people would leave the church if that happened and that would make the left deliriously happy.

Catholics do not believe the Holy Spirit inspires the selection of a pope. We believe the Holy Spirit protects the pope from teaching error ex cathedra. When the pope makes a formal statement ex cathedra, from the seat of Peter the Holy Spirit protects him from teaching error. There may have been three occasions in history that this has happened. The pundits are babbling nonsense as usual. There has not been a single intelligent thing said or written about the resignation.

Lightning strikes St Peters. What a sign. I lookup to the Catholic Church and it´s stand for religious freedom in the U.S. The protesant movement in the US is almost dead. Not one of the Protesant Churches are standing with the Catholic Church. Need I say anymore. Do you stand for life or do you march to the drum of the devil. Hopefully, the new Pope will be a leader for a rebirth of religion in the World. This is my prayer.

It is such a comfort to know that the selection of the next Pope will in no way be determined by opinion columns, biased reporting, ABCCBSNBCCNN, skewed opinion polls, or twitter bombs. We don´t need to call fax email or post anything to facebook.
I´ll be praying for the Cardinals and of course Pope Benedict.

Liberal ´Catholic´ politicians are afraid that they will be denied Communion for voting for laws that violate Biblical teachings and Church Law .......... and then they can continue to mislead Catholic voters ............. like Pa Sen Casey head of ´Catholics for Obama´.
I still can´t hardly believe that over 50% of self identified ´Catholics´ voter for Great Leader.

The daughter of Ariel Castro, the main suspect in the kidnapping and decade-long imprisonment of three Cleveland women, is serving 25 years in jail for slashing her baby daughter´s throat. Emily Castro, who suffered from mental illness, was convicted in Indiana in February 2008 of trying to kill her 11-month-old daughter Janyla, according to an Indiana newspaper and court reports. Castro, then 19, slashed the little girl´s neck four times and then sliced herself in the neck and wrists during a grisly attack at her Fort Wayne home in April 2007, a court document said.

Charlotte Mayor Anthony Foxx, who President Barack Obama tapped Tuesday to be the next transportation secretary, just declared Thursday "A Day of Reason" in his home city, and asked Charlotte´s citizens to observe the day. May 2 is traditionally the National Day of Prayer, a government-designated religious event designed to encourage people to "turn to God in prayer and meditation. But Foxx argued in his proclamation May 2 was better served as A Day of Reason because "the application of reason, more than any other means, has proven to offer hope for human survival on Earth."

WHEW! That is the word of the day for many surrounding the ball drop controversy involving Tiger Woods at The Masters. Though Mr. Woods will be assessed an additional 2-shot penalty for improperly (and apparently unknowingly) dropping his ball after an unfortunate break on the par-5 15th during Friday’s round, it still only leaves him just 5 shots behind current leader Jason Day…well within striking distance with 36 holes to play. But the bigger winners here clearly are CBS and principal broadcast advertiser IBM.

Amen, a longtime office manager of Gulf to Bay Realty, a Boca Grande business, is now facing embezzlement charges after a surprise birthday party for her boss backfired into a paper trail of fraudulent transactions, according to a news release from the Lee County Sheriff´s Office. The 46-year-old Boca Grande woman was reportedly solely responsible for handling the company´s finances such as billing and payroll. It was Amen´s decision to pay for a surprise birthday bash for one of her bosses -- without permission -- that brought the fraudulent transactions to light.

It includes an attachment or link promising more feline photos. Those who click get a surprise: stern warnings from their tech departments. The Dr. Zaius email is a simulated cyberattack. It is among the ploys companies are using to dupe employees into committing unsafe computing as a way to train them not to be so easily fooled.

When Benedict XVI was pope, the New York Times ran a scurrilous, distortion-infested campaign intended to link the former Joseph Ratzinger with the awful abuse scandals that have so harmed the Catholic Church. Former Gov. Mark Sanford completed the trail to political redemption Tuesday with a win over Democrat Elizabeth Colbert Busch to reclaim his old seat in Congress. Sanford defeated Colbert Busch 54 percent to 45 percent, according to full unofficial results. British physicist Stephen Hawking has dropped plans to attend a major international conference in Israel in June, citing his belief that he should respect a Palestinian call to boycott contacts with Israeli academics. The University of Cambridge released a statement Wednesday indicating that Hawking had told the Israelis last week that he would not be attending "based on advice from Palestinian academics that he should respect the boycott." University officials said they had "previously understood" that Hawking´s decision was based solely on health concerns — he is 71 and has severe disabilities — but had now been told otherwise by Hawking´s office.

Fans of Glenn Beck are complaining about what I wrote yesterday about his speech at the National Rifle Association convention, where he used a giant image of Michael Bloomberg photoshopped into what appeared to be an image of Hitler with his arm raised in a Nazi salute and wearing an armband. The Beck crowd now tells me that it wasn’t Hitler’s picture into which the New York mayor was transposed but that of Communist leader Vladimir Lenin. They say that means I owe Beck an apology along with the Anti-Defamation League and others who were also outraged by it.

Mark Sanford has won the South Carolina special election in a competitive race for what in normal circumstances is a safe Republican seat. The former governor beat Democrat Elizabeth Colbert Busch, the sister of comedian Stephen Colbert Busch, for the state’s 1st congressional district. The AP called the race for Sanford early in the evening, with the Republican leading Colbert Busch 54 percent 46 percent.
