The idea is that more is about to come out about that night and about the Benghazi operation as a whole, and when it does it will be so harmful to the administration that Obama would rather claim ignorance (by not being present and, therefore, unaware of what his underlings had been up to) than be exposed as being a part of the operation. In other words, his underlings will be the fall guys for all the gun-running and whatever else was going on because Obama himself was "unaware" and it was done without his approval.
