Cranks, Haters, Bigots No
Longer Welcome in the GOP

Atlantic Wire, by Elspeth Reeve

Fox News and the Republican Party, while still technically distinct entities, are moving to purge figures who are so controversial they´re damaging the conservative brand, Politico´s Jim VandeHei and Mike Allen report. An anonymous GOP strategist told Politico there is a deliberate effort to "marginalize the cranks, haters and bigots — there’s a lot of underbrush that has to be cleaned out." The strategist requested anonymity because the crank marginalization is not yet complete and he or she doesn´t want to inflame the cranks. New York´s Jonathan

What an outrageous headline. That would make you assume that "cranks, haters and bigots" were previously welcomed in the GOP. These were all promoted and manipulated to look that way by the corrupt media. I look forward to the day when they write an article about all the haters we hear from every single day in the Democrat party. s/o

There is a recognizable handful on this board who would agree with that headline, all the while bragging about their big tent approach and commitment to limited government.

The top down, one size fits all, as sized by entrenched career republican and democrat third tier political hacks is what Rove and his supporters are promoting. Pretty steep learning curve with his followers.

Rockfeller wingers are the new paleorepublicans.

What a ridiculous article. "...marginalize the cranks, haters and bigots..." Is this language a Conservative would use? Of course not. It´s liberal-speak.

So we´ve got the Atlantic quoting Politico who is quoting an anonymous source. Give me a break. This is a liberal slime attack on Brent Bozell and the unnamed Rush Limbaugh and Sarah Palin.

The last I checked, every crank, hater and bigot I am familiar with are in the Demon-RAT Party.

Michael Moore, Helen Thomas, Robert KKK Byrd, Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, etc, etc, etc. The list could go on all day.

Of course "cranks, haters and bigots" were never welcome in the GOP, as opposed to the Dems where they are abundant and revered. It´s risky to let The Atlantic tell us who we are.

What bothers me most about this headline is the opposition has appointed themselves to decide what is cranky, hateful, and bigoted. As if one has never heard of a self righteous liberal bigot.

To call Brent Bozell a ´hater´ just shows how silly the use of this word has become. I can´t think of a conservative that I respect more than him. I guess to disagree is to ´hate´ when it comes to liberal logic.

Liberals seem to regard all disagreement with their politics as "hate speech." The more one disagrees with them, the more one is a "hater" or a crank or a bigot. No decent, rational, moral person could possibly disagree in substance with liberal ideology.

Of course, to come right out and say and admit this, even to themselves, is not possible. It sounds too. . . well, intolerant, dogmatic, even bigoted. But deep or not so deep down, I think this is really what most serious liberals actually believe: there is no justifiable reason for anyone not to agree with them about politics.

I have no idea who these alleged "haters" and cranks and bigots who are to be "marginalized" may be. Something tells me it may be those who express the most disagreement with the liberal brand of politics. Liberals would like to have a Republican party that is much more. . . liberal. Of course they would. But perhaps they have lost sight of the big picture, i.e. the two party system. Or maybe, like Obama, they are just chafing at what they regard as the unnecessary and immoral delay such a system causes them in implementing their programs which, as everyone but the "haters" knows very well, are only aimed at creating a better, fairer, safer world.

I have been a Republican since Goldwater and have been to three tea party group meetings in my lifetime. I have never met a crank, hater or bigot in any of the above venues. In fact, I´ve known Democrats who have made racist remarks, since most of my acquaintances are liberal Democrats.

I find that the people who are generally labeled cranks, haters, and bigots are not those things. While the ones accusing them generally are.

Is there a worse hater than Al Sharpton? Or Jesse Jackson? Antisemites both. And Joe Biden certainly falls into the bigot/crank category over and over again with his highly insensitive yuk-ing it up with reporters comments that just keep coming even after the criticism of the Indian mini market escapade. And Obama with his disparaging "cling to guns and religion" comment certainly qualifies him as a bigot.

Two days after a shocking defeat, liberals are still grousing about the Senate spiking the nomination of former NAACP Legal Fund Director Debo Adegbile to be head of the Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division. What really burns them up is not just that Republicans successfully filibustered one of President Obama’s choices for a government post but that six Democrats joined with them. But rather than take responsibility for putting forward a controversial figure who was sure to provoke bitter opposition from both sides of the aisle, liberals are reverting to form by blaming their defeat on conservative demagoguery and racism. WASHINGTON — In late December, President Barack Obama´s new legislative affairs team sent him more than a dozen recommendations for ways to improve his strained relations with Capitol Hill. The president responded with a few ideas of his own, including a request for more social events with lawmakers at the White House. Via Matt Lewis, here’s Maverick once again demonstrating that “cordial relationship” in politico-speak means “two people who can’t publicly admit to hating each other but obviously do.” And it’s a cheap shot. Cruz’s point yesterday at CPAC was that Dole, McCain, and Romney lost because they weren’t conservative enough. That’s not because they’re gutless — he said specifically that they were “good” and “decent” men — but because they’re not committed, full-throated ideologues, even less so when they’re fighting for purple states in a national election. We can debate whether that’s true but there’s nothing offensive in raising the subject.

Hers, however, is an eloquent silence. The most intrusive and potentially most punitive federal agency has been politicized; the IRS has become an appendage of Barack Obama’s party. Furthermore, congruent with exhortations from some congressional Democrats, it is intensifying its efforts to suffocate groups critical of progressives, by delaying what once was the swift, routine granting of tax-exempt status. One of the most seismic changes in American politics over the last decade has been the emergence of a sharp generational split among the electorate. The Democratic Party owes its success in the last two presidential elections almost entirely to overwhelming support among the very young, which has overcome continued conservatism among older voters. The Pew Research Institute has dominated the field of exploring the ideological cleavages among different generations. And its latest survey shows again how the liberalism of the youngest voting cohort, millennials, remains firm, and likely to continue to recast the electorate. A few charts from the survey
