Conservative Fury at Rove Erupts
American Spectator, by Jeffrey Lord

Original Article

Posted By:KarenJ1, 2/7/2013 8:01:22 AM

Yow. Talk about a political disaster. The other day I closed a piece on Karl Rove by saying that in launching what he called the “Conservative Victory Project” Mr. Rove had made a big mistake. A really big mistake. The group, described here in the New York Times as “intended to counter other organizations that have helped defeat establishment Republican candidates over the last two election cycles,” has had a horrific reception among conservatives Now? Yesterday the big mistake became bigger. Much bigger. A thunderstorm became Katrina. Yesterday, American Crossroads

The article appears to be very, very long but a lot of it is because the list of signatures contained in a letter. It is well worth the read.

Joe Walsh has launched an alternative to Karl Rove´s group, so the anti-Roves have a place to put their money. In the meantime, I´m welcoming anyone who is putting forth time, money and effort to get Republicans elected. The more the merrier. Maybe the enthusiasm will help offset the rampant negativity against any GOPers who aren´t fitting the preferred mold.

Sorry #1, but I am through voting for Republicans that talk like, and vote with, Democrats.

Karl Rove was the mastermind behind 8 years of an administration that thought it could defeat Democrats by outspending them. I guess we all now know that is not possible.

Your definition of conservative might not match mine, #1. I´m looking for small government candidates. I have zero interest in their stand on abortion. We get killed at the polls when they begin taking crazy positions on abortion and contraception.

Carl Rove is all about Carl Rove making money and acquiring power. He could care less if someone was as intelligent as Ted Cruz, or as ignorant as Barbara Boxer. If it helped him make money or acquire power, he is all for it.

Why would conservatives take advice from establishment GOP operatives #1? The sudden appearance of Walsh is most likely an attempt at damage control.

Mr. Lord may be right about not focusing as much on Rove as the enemy but rather focusing our blood and sweat against the Republican establishment that Rove represents. Rove and his associates are now pariahs. Speaking for myself, I abhor the conduct of elites, consultants and operatives who view us as unthinking masses that can be influenced by platitudinal diarrhea.

"But one thing is certain.
It is very safe to say the leaders of today’s conservative movement, Brent Bozell included, will be damned if they are going to hand over the rich and deep heritage of that movement to Mr. Rove’s wildly misnamed “Conservative Victory Project.”

Take the country back to its Founding Charter.
Respect for Life
Liberty balanced by individual accountability
Limited government that governs least, Tolerance for differences without sacrificing the ´melting pot´ nature of America for a socialist mosaic Uncompromising defense of sovereignty and universal values.

I am not a Republican, never have been. I am a former Democrat who voted for Perot instead of Clinton and then registered "no party". I am waiting for a party of Constitutional conservatives to come along. In the mean time I vote and support issues and candidates based on their Constitutional and moral positions, as best I can. Karl Rove is pure Repub at any cost. I´m sorry he has so much power and sway. Most of the time doing the right thing means you have to suffer to some degree. It usually makes you stronger.

Rove represents the Rockefeller wing of the Republican Party. i.e. the Republicans with the bucks. They are the ones who make money when they´re in power. It´s been an uneasy alliance from the beginning with the grassroots. All we get when we win is the satisfaction of doing the right thing.

I had my eyes opened to Mr. Rove a few years ago. He is a liar. He is better at lying, perhaps, than Mr. Clinton because he fools conservatives as well as liberals.

The interview with Hannity was a work of art. By the end, if I didn´t know better, I would have sworn that Mr. Rove was at the forefront of true conservative politics. We have to look at what Mr. Rove does, not at what he says. And what he does is perpetuate the rule of the Ruling Class, both Democrat and Democrat-lite. His political treatment of Sharron Angle, Christine O´Donnell and Richard Mourdock gives testimony to the true beliefs of Mr. Karl Rove.

#18, you could always join the Constitution Party (www.constitutionparty.com). It´s been around for years, although not under that name till 1996 or so, and has branches in all fifty states.

Back in 1992, the party ran Howard Phillips for president. It was he who first said the Republicans would go the way of the Whigs.

I´m always surprised and amused by people who say they´re waiting for a Constitution Party and don´t realize there already is one. It´s a very easy Google.

what the establishment has figured out is that Tea Party/conservatives are not voting for whomever the repugs decide should be president or senator.

conservatives are no longer playing the game of voting AGAINST a democratic; they are starting to only vote FOR a candidate or not vote at all. Run another Dole, McCain, Bush or Romney and the repugs know they will lose.

This is where Rush and Hannity get it all wrong. they need to stop carrying the water for the repugs every election.

Anyone (including Ldotters) who think a "Constitution or 3rd Party" could win over our degenerate brainwashed nation is dreaming big time! Republicans need a person who can talk straight to people & explain how our Republic was designed or maybe give a history lesson to brain dead "give me" people. He must have the type of personality people can associate with & not go into deep economic problems like Paul Ryan who I deeply respect. Even Americans with impressive educational papers will not keep their attention on long boring economic speeches. DeMint,Rubio,Palin,Bachmann,West,Barbour,Star Parker,Sowell,Crowley,Levin,Bolton,North,Liz Chaney,Hannity come to mind plus even Hume & Kraughtheimer are beginning to wake up. Herman Cain spoke so that people could understand & even Santorum began to build a platform speaking about FREEDOM & LIBERTY. Elites get buried in details. We need the Tea Party & patrioic speeches & II Chronicles 7:14!!!!!

XXIV, at its core, you have identified the real unifiying truth of the antisocial republicans, i.e the not our kind, dear republicanism that in succession endorsed Rockefeller over Goldwater, Romney over Reagan in 68, Ford over Reagan in 76, Bush over Reagan in 1980, Bush over the Reagan legacy and Kemp in 1988....culminating in Romney this year. At least in this thread they have exposed themselves for the single issue voters they are so quick to blame. Abortion and making it available at every opportunity at government expense is now in some Orwellian way both limited government and conservative. Presumably gay marriage receives the same quiet, tacit approval.

This of course would leave practicing Catholics, Hispanics and Church going African Americans one more reason not to.

But they brag about their big tent.

If Betsey McCaughey is correct (and I bet she is, because she has not only read the entire ObamaCare bill, she has written a book about it), Supreme Court Justice Elena Kagan publicly humiliated herself during the oral arguments on the Hobby Lobby case, revealing that she either did not read the law, or failed to comprehend it if she did so. Writing in the New York Sun, McCaughey lays out what is wrong with the Justice’s declaration about Obamacare: she asserted that the statute itself mandates provision of birth control. Not one word in the Affordable Care Act guarantees health plans will cover birth control products.

Ronan Farrow’s MSNBC talk show is facing cancellation amid poor ratings, sources exclusively tell Confidenti@l.Farrow, 28 — the opinionated, blue-eyed son of actress Mia Farrow and either Woody Allen or Frank Sinatra (even Farrow’s not sure which) — has been a disaster for MSNBC. The channel took the frequent cable-show guest and handed him his own program, “Ronan Farrow Daily,” which premiered in late February. The theory was that Farrow, a Rhodes scholar who graduated college when he was 15 and went on to score degrees from Yale and Oxford, would bring his 245,000 Twitter followers with him to television

Former U.S. Senator Bob Kerrey thinks President Barack Obama, a fellow Democrat, was re-elected in 2012 because he ´sucked less´ than former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney. The Nebraskan straight-talker told MailOnline in an exclusive interview that Obama isn´t up to the job of bringing liberals and conservatives to the table to rescue America´s slowly choking entitlement programs. And Obama, he said Wednesday in his Manhattan office, knew full well he was lying when he promised that the Affordable Care Act would allow Americans to keep insurance plans they liked. ´He had to know he was misleading the audience,´ Kerrey said

YOKOHAMA, Japan — Climate change is already having sweeping effects on every continent and throughout the world’s oceans, scientists reported Monday, and they warned that the problem is likely to grow substantially worse unless greenhouse emissions are brought under control. The report by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, a United Nations group that periodically summarizes climate science, concluded that ice caps are melting, sea ice in the Arctic is collapsing, water supplies are coming under stress, heat waves and heavy rains are intensifying, coral reefs are dying, and fish and many other creatures are migrating toward the poles or

A National Labor Relations Board official has given the green light to Northwestern University football players to form a union. The March 26 decision by the NLRB´s Chicago regional director, Peter Sung Ohr, held that scholarship football players are "employees" for purposes of federal labor law. Ohr rejected the longstanding view of Northwestern and the National Collegiate Athletic Association that players are "student-athletes" rather than employees. While Ohr´s decision is hardly the final word on this issue, it does accelerate the legal and political battle against the NCAA and its century-old amateurism rules. Is Football Academic? Washington — The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration on Monday finalized long-delayed rules that will require automakers to install back-up cameras in all vehicles by May 2018. The new rules set rear visibility standards that automakers will initially be able to meet only by installing cameras. At the same time, major automakers said Monday they are petitioning the Obama administration to let them end the use of side view mirrors if they install cameras that could perform the same task — a move that could improve fuel efficiency. President Obama’s Department of Homeland Security caught then released 68,000 aliens who had previously been convicted of a crime, a new report from the Center for Immigration Studies shows. The report, provided to Breitbart News ahead of its late Sunday evening release, reviews internal Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) metrics to conclude that the Obama administration released 35 percent—or 68,000—convicted criminal aliens back into the U.S. general population when they could have been deported. Drinking Earl Grey tea could help guard against heart disease, it has emerged, after a study found that bergamot extract--a key ingredient in the hot drink--is just as effective as statins at controlling cholesterol. Scientists believe bergamot, a fragrant Mediterranean citrus fruit which gives Earl Grey tea its distinctive flavour, can significantly lower cholesterol. They say it contains enzymes known as HMGF (hydroxy methyl glutaryl flavonones) which can attack proteins in the body known to cause heart disease. The study found bergamot could even be as effective as statins, used to control cholesterol but which can have side effects in
