A group of children from Newtown, Connecticut are going to sing live at the Grammy Awards on Sunday night. The 21 children, some of whom attend Sandy Hook Elementary School which was the scene of the tragic mass shooting nearly two months ago, recorded a version of ´Over the Rainbow´ and will be performing at the music awards show. American Idol host Ryan Seacrest will be flying a crew to Connecticut and plans to interview the children via satellite during the red-carpet segment of the broadcast, said Tim Hayes, who co-produced the recording.

Too bad the 200-odd children killed in collateral damage via Obama´s ´We have the authority to kill anyone anywhere´ drone strikes can´t get together for a sing-a-long...

What the heck - they probably didn´t sing in English anyway...

Maybe a ´Chicago Child Corpses of 2012´ choir?

Face it - there´s nothing in this country now that media and politicians won´t go vampire on for ratings...

This does not feel right. What do child psychologists have to say about this?

Using traumatized children as props....will they go on tour with survivors of other school shootings? "Our friends were killed...now we´re celebrities."

I lost a classmate as a kid when he was hit by a car...an accident. It still haunts me decades later as I think of what the rest of us experienced that was not to be for him. I remember the date and the weather and when I heard about him dying, his parents, his siblings.

I wasn´t there when it happened. I was in no danger myself. These kids need to be home. Private mourning and tributes.

I cannot see this as a good thing at all.

So why do you suppose they are doing this? What kind of feelings are they trying to induce or convey? I can tell you if I felt anything it would be a need to throw up at the sight of this kind of revolting spectacle put on display, compliments of pop culture at large.

But then we are speaking of vermin which reside in a diseased sewer pipe called hollywood. They cannot get enough of this kind of spectacle. They live in a world of make-believe where this kind of grotesque display sends them into euphoric orgasms.

And sadly the typical clueless American with no sense of self-worth, will tune in to take part in this delusional circus every time.

I am only too happy that I neither watch any of the spectacles churned out of hollywood, nor do I worship children.

Incidentally, roughly 20,000 children around the world die each day. You will note, Hollywood makes no effort to seek out their friends or relatives for the sake of putting them on parade before the television cameras. Of course the relative reason for this would be that Hollywood has no underlying political motive to do so.

If these kids are representing Sandy Hook Elementarty then the school officials need to have their heads examined. Some people just can´t resist the call of celebrity even when it comes at the expense of children. Let the kids deal with this as children, not as a group of manufactured celebrities. The kids are being used as pawns and the school officials and parents should know better than to allow it. I would fear that when these children look back on this tragedy they will remember the excitement of singing instead of the sadness of loss.

I thought to myself that this exploitation was making me sick. There was a suicide in my sister´s town and they left a chair for the gal at graduation. I said to my sister that I believe the attention given to these suicides and these other awful things only serves to encourage more of the same incidents. That had never occurred to her until I mentioned it. We are now a nation of victims. I can see that these children will be forced to make careers out of this event.

The Episcopal Church-run National Cathedral in Northwest Washington, D.C., has hosted many events in its storied history, from Martin Luther King’s final Sunday sermon before his assassination, to U.S. presidents’ state funerals. Last week, it was the site of “Seeing Deeper,” a five-day exploration of “expansiveness, immediacy and insight.” Before we get into that, here’s a brief history. In 1791, Pierre Charles L´Enfant, who laid out the capital city, included space for a “a great church for national purposes.” The original site now houses the National Portrait Gallery. A century later, on Jan. 6, 1893, Congress granted a charter signed

Under the motor-voter law, federal officials distribute voter-registration forms in all of the states. Arizona, Kansas and Georgia all asked that those forms request proof of citizenship, but the federal Election Assistance Commission rejected that in a 46-page ruling. The consensus: very few. That reality highlights one problem Republicans face as they seek to regain the White House after six years under President Obama. Lots of factors affect elections: the quality of the candidates, the state of the economy, the effectiveness of the campaigns. But in a country whose demographics continue to change, Republicans will begin this campaign with one significant disadvantage. Over the past three decades, the political leanings of
