Top Democrat warns against
using term ´illegal immigrants´

Washington Times, by Stephen Dinan

Original Article

Posted By:KarenJ1, 2/5/2013 11:44:42 AM

Opening the first immigration hearing of the new Congress, the top Democrat on the Judiciary Committee warned his colleagues not to use the term "illegal immigrant" as the debate goes on. "I hope no one uses the term illegal immigrants here today. Our citizens are not — the people in this country are not illegal. They are are out of status. They are new Americans that are immigrants," said Rep. John Conyers Jr., Michigan Democrat. As Congress begins the immigration debate, both sides are preparing for an emotionally charged fight, and language will be one of the battlegrounds.

Comments:
This is even worse than the other article I posted. The people in this country are not illegal?? This is why dealing with Democrats is fruitless. They are so delusional they have no credibility whatsoever and have no desire to uphold the rule of law.

Puts me in mind of my liberal acquaintances who correct me when I refer to them as "pro-abortion." Oh, no no, it´s "pro-choice." Uh-huh.

This kind of semantic pussy-footing is depressing and demoralizing, particularly so coming from an elected official and member of the government. I´m not going to take the low road and do what a liberal would do and question his intelligence, but...

They are aliens who have entered this country in violayion of our laws Mr Conyers. Why shouldn´t we call them what, in fact, they are?

It´s amazing how many of the people we elect to govern this country can be so obtuse!

You are here legally, or not.

Do Democrats care if people are entering the country legally?

And he wants to simply say "they´re out of status"?

Isn´t that saying "they don´t have legal status to be in this country"?

They are illegal aliens. And there´s no excuse for them to be here 20 days after a deportation order, much less 20 years plus like Uncle On-drunk-o.

All: I cannot urge you more strongly to read closely George Orwell´s superb essay, "Politics and the English Language," and his "Appendix" to "1984."

They are illegal aliens!!! I had a green card--I was a legal alien. Call them "out of status"? How about calling me "out of patience"? Will I be referred to as "in status" now I´m a citizen? What a stupid meaningless, bureacratic term! I´m going to call myself what I am--formerly a legal alien, now a US Citizen who followed all the rules, jumped through all the hoops and paid a significant amount of money to become a citizen. As for "out of statusers," how about "OOSers" for short? Yeah, I like that!

Oh, this makes me so angry I have steam coming out my ears, just like the alleged smoke from alleged Obama´s alleged rifle. A pox on all of ´em!

Conyers, whose wife marcia may still be incarcerated at a federal prison, by the way, is using Orwellian language modification.
If we no longer call an illegal immigrant illegal, but a ´citizen´ as he seem to do, then there is no reason for border protection or citizenship procedures.

English is a complicated language. Many words can confuse and actually have opposite meanings. Progressive is also often confused with progress. Progress and Congress should never be used in the same sentence. Democrat and Democracy also confuse those who think Democrats want Democracy. I guess now if you are standing inside the borders of America you are considered an American by royal decree.

“He who controls the language controls the masses”. – Saul Alinsky in Rules for Radicals.
Conyers is saying this to control the language or the terminology. He knows that they are here illegally. We on the right should learn how to control the language or at least continue to use the non-pc language.

The words "alien" and "immigrant" are defined words in the immigration laws. Generally the word "alien" is defined as any person who is not a citizen or national of the USA, and the word "immigrant" is generally defined as any alien, other then an alien here on a temporary visa, who is allowed to live and work here in accordance with the immigration laws.

It is clear that any alien who is here outside the immigration laws is here illegally, and cannot meet the lawful definition of being an immigrant. That´s why they have commonly been referred to as illegal aliens.

By using other and "nicer" terms to refer to illegal aliens, the Democrats are usually trying to fool most people who know little or nothing about the immigration laws, especially by lumping the legal immigrant population together with illegal aliens by referring to the all as being immigrants.

In the case of especially Mexicans who are living and working in the USA illegally, most are not immigrants, but are actually migrants who come here for economic purposes. Those Mexicans are happy and proud to be Mexicans, and wish to be able to live and work here with dignity, and be able to come and go from the USA as they choose. They could care less about the US immigration laws, the borderline, and US sovereignty issues related to them being here.

If those Mexicans were allowed to simply stay here, work, and travel back and forth to Mexico most would be very happy. The only entities who want to make all those millions of Mexicans US citizens are the Democrats, and their political allies, the many very liberal ethnic and immigrant rights groups who look at every illegal alien as being a potential new Democrat voter.

I never say illegal immigrant. Immigration to the US is a legal process with rules and responsibilities. I just say illegal alien. Or illegals.

Illegal entry involves ongoing and deliberate deception, lying, cheating, false identities, identity theft, and job stealing, none of which are benign and all of which are harmful to our national interest.

Criminal alien invaders.

There is already a simple, straight-forward "path to citizenship" and has been for decades.

It begins in the country of their birth with an application for a visa.

Anything else is a crime--even if one considers it a "code violation," like a parking ticket--and should not be rewarded with amnesty ahead of those following the rules.

How many legs does a dog have, if you call the tail a leg...he still has four, and aliens who do not follow the rules are still illegals, criminal alien invaders!

The White House continued to downplay public statements Iranian officials have made in recent weeks that appear to undermine the nuclear agreement Tehran has made with the U.S. and other world powers. The news came on an icy, snow-drifted Tuesday as Christie took his oath of office for a second term as New Jersey´s governor. Walter Timpone, a Christie-linked attorney whom Kelly retained after her public firing, received the subpoena served on her Friday by a New Jersey Assembly special investigative committee. But he is stepping aside because he has a conflict of interest.

Are you dazed and confused by Barack Obama, the nominal Democrat, whose conduct as president since 2009 has seen him sink from nearly 70 percent to 40 percent or less in the national polling, from which he has seemed to learn nothing, but still marches on? Fear not, the doctor is in: Fred Siegel of the Manhattan Institute, whose latest book, The Revolt Against The Masses: How Liberalism Has Undermined the Middle Class, explains all you wanted to know about Obama, and much else. It explains why he never became the new Franklin D. Roosevelt, John F. Kennedy or Lyndon B.

The Pentagon on Wednesday is expected to announce widespread changes to rules governing religious items and religion-based physical attributes that service members can maintain while in uniform — including beards, some religious tattoos, and turbans. NBC News obtained an early draft of the new Department of Defense instruction which states that the military will make every effort to accommodate “individual expressions of sincerely held beliefs” (conscience, moral principles, or religious beliefs) of service members. It goes on to say that unless doing so could have an adverse impact on military readiness, unit cohesion, good order and discipline, health and safety,

What’s so great about Zulu? To answer that question properly, you need to pass this test first. 1) Do you know Men of Harlech off by heart? 2) Can you name at least half of the 11 Victoria Cross winners in the film (by their nicknames where possible) without resorting to Google? 3) Have you ever found yourself stirred to ridiculous feelings of patriotism by John Barry’s magnificent film score on the morning commute? I really hope someone else answers “yes” to all three, otherwise you can chalk me up as a lone madman. Zulu--released 50 years ago this week--is

The bare-bones Wendy Davis story — the one without embellishment — is sufficiently inspiring as a matrix for defying expectations. The daughter of a teenage mother and a teenage mother herself, Davis managed to beat the odds by getting a college education and Ivy League law degree, then launching a political career that’s brought her national adulation. But since Davis’ Democratic gubernatorial ambitions caught fire last year, “facts have been blurred” in the retelling of her life’s story, as reported Sunday by this newspaper’s senior political writer, Wayne Slater.

In the January 27 issue of People Magazine, First Lady Michelle Obama cites Jane Fonda as a role model. "[And] there´s Jane Fonda, a beautiful, engaged, politically savvy, sharp woman," Michelle Obama responded after being asked by People who she would someday want to look and live like. PEOPLE: And there are other role models you look at and think, "When I´m 70 or 80, I want to look and live like her´? MRS. OBAMA: Oh, yes. Every event I go to, every rope line, women are looking better with every passing year. I run into women all the time who will

The House Oversight and Government Reform Committee has released a transcript of former senior EPA official John Beale’s testimony. The Committee deposed Beale in connection with his recent fraud conviction. (Snip) “And then phase 3 would have been coming up with specific proposals that could be – could have been proposed either legislatively or things which could have been done administratively to kind of modify the DNA of the capitalist system…” That testimony comes on page 21 of Beale’s deposition. He testified to his belief that while environmental regulations in the United States have been successfull, “we’re reaching the limits

It really is a tale of two cities — this time with the tony Upper East Side getting the shaft! Huge swaths of the city’s wealthiest neighborhood had been not been plowed by early Tuesday evening, leaving 1-percenters out in the cold, according to the city’s own map of snow-plower activity. “He is trying to get us back. He is very divisive and political,” said writer and life-long Upper East Side mom Molly Jong Fast of Mayor de Blasio. “By not plowing the Upper East Side, he is saying, ‘I’m not one of them.’ But we have everyone in this

President Obama’s latest claims about marijuana are contradicted by research and official positions of the Office of National Drug Control Policy, which is part of the White House. And Mr. Obama’s words have anti-drug leaders worried about negative repercussions among youth.Mr. Obama claimed to The New Yorker magazine that marijuana is no worse than cigarettes or alcohol and he promoted state efforts by Colorado and Washington to legalize marijuana, which remains illegal under federal law.The National Drug Control Policy’s official stance, posted on the whitehouse.gov website, says the opposite of Mr. Obama on all counts. For example, as documented in agency

TOPEKA — A man who provided sperm to a lesbian couple in response to an online ad is the father of a child born to one of the women and must pay child support, a Kansas judge ruled Wednesday. Topeka resident William Marotta had argued that he had waived his parental rights and didn’t intend to be a father. Shawnee County District Judge Mary Mattivi rejected that claim, saying the parties didn’t involve a licensed physician in the artificial insemination process and thus Marotta didn’t qualify as a sperm donor, The Topeka Capital-Journal reported.

Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., on Tuesday decided to add a little more oomph to his running criticism of how President Obama has handled the ongoing turmoil in Syria. “I have never seen anything like this in my life,” McCain told Phoenix radio station KFYI-AM while discussing the president’s policy on Syria. “I thought Jimmy Carter was bad, but he pales in comparison to this president, in my opinion.” Comparisons to the unpopular Carter administration were rampant during the 2012 presidential campaign season. Republican nominee Mitt Romney and his running mate, Rep. Paul Ryan, R-Wis., tried continuously to point to anti-American unrest in
