New Malware Attacks Smartphone,
Computer to Eavesdrop

CNBC, by Cadie Thompson

Original Article

Posted By:Ribicon, 2/4/2013 9:37:19 PM

A recently discovered new form of Android malware called DroidCleaner can not only infect your smartphone, but also targets your PC to spy on you. Researchers at the security firm Kaspersky Labs have uncovered new malware which poses as a "cleaner" app -- or an app used to free memory on Google´s OS -- in the Google (GOOG) Play app store. Once an Android user downloads the app, the malware infects the user´s smartphone and can also be uploaded to the user´s PC if they plug the device into their Windows computer in the USB drive mode.

Comments:
Sophisticated hunk of malware.

What I do not like is many if not all apps phone home to tell the creator how their app is working. They also take the time to tell them about all your other apps and your contacts and photos.

Google is being sued over this. You may notice ads popping up on websites about products you may have viewed elsewhere.

With your phone they do the samething and tie in your web viewing. Couple that with tracking you thru stores and a big dossier will be created on you.

East Germany is right around the corner.

Light-Rail to Nowhere: Honolulu,
Hawaii´s Train Boondoggle

In 2011, officials in Honolulu, Hawaii began construction on a controversial 20-mile rail project partly because of almost $1.8 billion in federal subsidies to President Barack Obama´s home state. The project´s total cost estimate stands at $5.3 billion, but if other similar projects are any indication, the final price tag will increase dramatically before anyone even gets to buy a ticket. What´s playing out in the Aloha State is happening all over the country. “This rail project is our bridge to nowhere”, says University of Hawaii law professor Randall Roth. “We are convinced that it will be billions of dollars

House of Raeford officially closed its turkey slaughterhouse in Raeford on Thursday, putting 950 people out of work. The company first announced plans to shutter the facility in March. It’s also closing its turkey hatchery in Rose Hill and ending its relationship with about 140 turkey farmers in Eastern North Carolina. House of Raeford was by far the largest employer in Raeford, a city of fewer than 5,000 people just south of Fort Bragg. (Snip) House of Raeford said in March that elevated corn prices, as well as falling turkey prices and flat turkey consumption in recent years, have made

Amid the backlash against Hillsdale College President Larry Arnn for referring to minority students as “dark ones,” the Michigan Department of Education acknowledged Thursday that it sent inspectors to study the school, including its student diversity. The department reversed after earlier saying no such review had taken place. On Wednesday, Arnn told lawmakers during testimony against the state’s adoption of Common Core standards in reading, writing and math that his college had been approached by the Department of Education because it “didn’t have enough dark ones,” referring to minority students. While Arnn’s comments drew criticism from many lawmakers and alumni,

Philadelphia — New Jersey´s law requiring residents show a "justifiable need" to get a permit to carry a handgun in public was upheld by a federal appeals court. A mandate that residents demonstrate an "urgent necessity for self-protection" to get authorization to publicly carry a handgun doesn´t run afoul of U.S. constitutional protections of the right to bear firearms, a three-judge panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals in Philadelphia ruled Wednesday. "The justifiable need standard is a longstanding regulation that enjoys presumptive constitutionality," the panel wrote. The ruling comes more than four months after the U.S. Supreme Court rebuffed

Forced to march in a human chain and lined up with hands behind their heads, this is how to round up illegal immigrants Russian-style. Moscow police launched a no-nonsense crackdown on suspected illegals working on stalls in a market. Officers prodded suspects with batons and pinned them against police vans as searches were carried out. These men and women weren´t even a blip on the nation´s radar until former Navy SEAL Team 6 member Chris Beck revealed in a memoir released last month that he had become Kristin Beck, a woman. It´s unknown how many transgender troops are serving in the U.S. military, largely because they would get kicked out for coming out. About 700,000 Americans in a population of more than 300 million are transsexuals, according to a 2011 study by the Williams Institute at the UCLA School

In 2008 and then again in 2012, after retired four-star General Colin Powell endorsed and then voted for Barack Obama, the former Secretary of State´s sanity was already in question. At least now, after having his email account hacked by high-level security-breacher Guccifer, Colin Powell´s besmirching of the Republican Party´s "shift to the right" and "identity crisis" finally makes sense. It seems that for years the mannerly and always professional Colin Powell has been cyber-comporting with a 46-year-old Romanian European Parliament member, Social Democrat, and past spokesperson for Romanian president Ion Iliescu named Corina Cretu

Conservatives have for years attempted to put our finger upon precisely why Barack Obama strikes us as queer in precisely the way he does. There is an alienness about him, which in the fever swamps is expressed in all that ridiculous Kenyan-Muslim hokum, but his citizen-of-the-world shtick is strictly sophomore year — the great globalist does not even speak a foreign language. Obama has been called many things — radical, socialist — labels that may have him dead to rights at the phylum level but not down at his genus or species. His social circle includes

For nearly a year, we have had no answer to why the administration lied about Benghazi — why it told the world, not to mention the parents of our murdered SEALs at the funeral of their sons, that the cause of that fatal conflagration was an anti-Islamic video no one saw, when the various arms of our executive branch (White House, State and intelligence) already knew, or strongly suspected, it was a terror attack orchestrated by al-Qaeda affiliates. You only have to read the now infamous talking points to know that. That this lie was deeply immoral is obvious.

Today, across Africa, Araby and Asia, from Nouakchott to Dhaka, the diplomatic facilities of the United States are closed. There’s a Tsarnaev out there, somewhere – could be the Mahgreb, the Levant, the Horn of Africa, the Indian sub-continent – who knows? So, as Richard Fernandez writes, “Shelter in place, this time globally.” Maybe it will work. Maybe by the end of the day there will be, unlike Benghazi a year on, men in custody. But if not? Daniel Pipes: Don’t know about you, but I find this pre-emptive cringing unworthy of a great country, even humiliating.

Damon, a vocal supporter of the president since his 2008 campaign for national office, said that Obama is overcompensating for his lack of military background with his tough response to controversies like how the government is responding to National Security Agency leaker Edward Snowden. The actor said that Obama is allowing himself to “get bullied” and is acting as though is “manhood”
